There is a pleasant lakeside walk, a cycle track (part of the SUSTRANS National Cycle Network) a planned sculpture trial and an abundance of swans, mallards and other wildlife. The lake was once one of the cooling lakes within the Duport Steelworks, one of the most advanced steelworks in the world! The area has since been updated, with the opening of the Millennium Coastal Park and regeneration of the coastal area of Llanelli.

 Sandy Water Park Walks

There is a pleasant family-friendly walk that you can take around the lake.  The walk is approximately 4.5km and will take 2-3 hours to complete. Park your car at the Sandy Water Park car
park and continue around the lake. For a longer walk, take a detour through the Mabinogion Woods and continue along the Millenium Coastal Path and then onto the local nature reserve at North Dock. keep your eyes peeled for swans and orchids!
