Aberglasney Gardens - Gardeners Cottage 5 Stars   -   Sleeps 4   -   No Pets   -   Ref: 698

Aberglasney Gardens - Gardeners Cottage Spectacularly set in the beautiful Tywi Valley of Carmarthenshire, Aberglasney Gardens have been an inspiration for poetry since 1477. The story of Aberglasney spans many centuries, but the house's origins are still shrouded in mystery. The property and gardens, following their ownership by various notables, fell into a desperate state of neglect and disrepair, parts of it even being offered for auction in a London sale house. This was the turning point and the law stopped the destruction of the listed building. Public awareness was raised and the 1990's saw the formation of a Trust for the restoration of Aberglasney. In 1999 they were formally opened, a walk around the gardens will show you just how spectacularly successful the project has been. Amongst the gardens at Aberglasney you will find a magnificent Yew Tree Tunnel, Cloister Garden, Pool Garden, Stream & Pigeon House Wood, Kitchen Garden, Upper Walled Garden, Bishop Rudd's Walk and the award winning Ninfarium in the ruinous courtyard of the mansion. The gardens are now considered as being one of the very finest in the land. The facade of Aberglasney house has been completed but careful renovation and restoration of the interior is on-going.

Some of our pictures of Aberglasney Gardens

Coast & Country Holidays are delighted to be able to offer the unique opportunity of letting both of the restored cottages on the edge of Aberglasney's grounds. Guests of the superbly appointed cottages will be given free access to the gardens during opening hours for the duration of their holiday (winner of the Welcome Host visitor attraction award 2002). Aberglasney would make an ideal holiday destination offering the peace and tranquillity that eludes so many of us for so much of the time.

Great attention to detail has been used whilst renovating the cottages; the quality, comfort and workmanship of the cottage and furnishings should please the most discerning visitor. Lunches and Teas can be purchased in the grounds and eaten overlooking the Pond Garden. Truly, we feel that we are able to offer a unique opportunity for a cottage holiday with a difference.
