Set at the edge of the Snowdonia National Park, Bala Lake is four miles long and just over a mile and a half wide. The lake is very popular for fishing and there are two sailing clubs which offer Kayak, boat and yacht hire.
Around the lake is a beautiful walk offering splendid views over the body of water and the beautiful Snowdonia mountain ranges to the north and west and you might get a fright if you catch a glimpse of ‘Teggie‘ the local monster that lives in the depths of Bala Lake!
On the south eastern side of the lake you will find the Bala Lake Railway – one of the many ‘Great Little Trains of Wales’ and the 9 mile stretch of track along the edge of the lake is a lovely relaxing journey with beautiful views along most of its length.
To grab some lunch – try Plas y Dre – on Stryd Fawr.
