Part of the much larger Ffestiniog & Welsh Highland Railways, the Festiniog Railway runs for some 13.5 miles from Porthmadog to Blaenau Ffestiniog taking in some beautiful Welsh landscapes en-route.
Today the railway carries many tourists relishing in the past gone steam era, many re-living their childhood memories of ‘Ivor the Engine‘ and his driver ‘Jones the Steam‘. The line is a narrow gauge one foot 11.5 inch wide track which originally passed through 10 stations.
It takes some 1hr and 15 minutes from end to end, so allow a good morning or afternoon for the round trip.
