Known as ‘Book Town’, one visit to Hay will explain why! The Town is scattered with Book Shops, many selling specialist books. Hay sits on the bank of the River Wye in the Brecon Beacons National Park right on the border with England – infact if you walk a few hundred yards down Newport Street, you will be in England.
A large carpark off Oxford Road guarantee’s that there is ample parking space in the Town.
Castle Street which runs below the old Castle ruins is the main shopping Street, but don’t let that stop you exploring further afield – there are places and things of interest hidden away all over Hay. The Town boasts many good pubs and eateries and you can really make more than a day of it exploring all the shops, pubs and cafe’s in Hay.
