Situated between Mold and Corwen on the A494, Ruthin boasts some of the best late medieval timber framed buildings found in Wales. The Town is well worth the visit just to see these buildings alone.
There is plenty more to Ruthin than just these buildings, look a little deeper and you will discover gems such as the Ruthin Craft Centre – where you can browse all manor of crafts, join in with a craft workshop or just enjoy a bite to eat and a drink in the cafe. If you prefer being a bit more energetic, try The Centre Ruthin – a community centre with tennis, mini golf, football and a bowling green.
For those of you that really are enjoying the local architecture, take a visit to Nant Clwyd y Dre Museum, which is housed in a quite remarkable building on Castle Street. There is also Ruthin Goal to explore. Beware though – they both close during the winter.
