Divided by the River Wye into Symonds Yat East (in Gloucestershire) and Symonds Yat West (in Herefordshire) – we have included it in our guides as it is only a few miles outside of Monmouthshire.
Both Yat’s are popular with tourists, you can hire canoe’s, take boat trips along the Wye, walk or cycle the old railway line along the river or visit the Jubliee Maze (one of Britain’s most famous) and the Wye Valley Butterfly Zoo.
A walk up to Symonds Yat Rock is also well worth the effort with fine views over the Wye Valley rewarding all that make the journey.
There are a couple of choices for lunch nearby Symonds Yat, Ye Old Ferrie Inn sits right on the Bank of the River Wye or to the north just off Ashes Lane you will find the Wye Knot Inn.
