Dylan Thomas Boathouse

This iconic boathouse is where Dylan Thomas lived with his family, during the last four years of his life. Set on a clifftop overlooking the Tâf estuary, it’s easy to see where he got his inspiration from – it’s said that he wrote most of his major pieces while being here. Visitors can now take a walk through the house, before stopping for a cup of tea in the outside cafe next door. Aspiring poets won’t want to miss this attraction!

2. St Martin’s Church

St Martin’s Church is a grade II listed building set within the village. Around it, you’ll find a good choice of scenic walks – great for those stopping in dog-friendly cottages nearby!

3. The Dylan Thomas Birthday Walk

The Dylan Thomas Birthday Walk is a two-mile walking route that offers spectacular views of the estuary, the boathouse, and on clear days – glimpses of North Devon and Caldey Island. In 1944, Dylan Thomas wrote a poem about this particular walk which he enjoyed on his 30th birthday. Since then, visitors can enjoy complimentary gifts if they take a stroll along this route on their birthday – including free cakes and pizzas from the local pubs and cafes!

4. Laugharne Castle

Originally built in 1116, Laugharne Castle has gone through quite a few changes through the years. Once taken over as a Norman stronghold, it then became a Tudor manor house in the 16th century. Set within ornamental 19th-century gardens, it’s well worth a visit while you’re in the village.

5.
