Our favourite waterfalls in Wales<\/h2>\n

We all know that Wales is absolutely brimming with natural beauty spots, but did you know that it\u2019s also home to over 13 gorgeous waterfalls?<\/p>\n

You\u2019ll find waterfalls in Wales across the country, including the Snowdonia and Brecon Beacons National Parks. The highest waterfall in Wales is Pistyll Rhaeadr in Powys, and is considered to be one of the \u2018Seven Wonders of Wales\u2019. However, there\u2019s plenty more that are just as impressive and well worth a visit if you\u2019ll be stopping nearby.<\/p>\n

Aber Falls<\/h2>\n

Location:<\/strong> Abergwyngregyn, North Wales<\/p>\n

Aber Falls<\/a> is a beautiful waterfall, set outside the quaint village of Abergwyngregyn in North Wales. A popular visitor spot since the late 19th century, the waterfall tumbles down from the Carneddau mountain range before crashing into the river valley below. The route along to the falls is just as scenic, taking you through pretty meadows and woodlands.<\/p>\n

How to get there:<\/strong> There is a pay and display car park around two miles from the falls. Simply follow the well-waymarked path from the lower park to reach the waterfall – it should take no longer than an hour.<\/p>\n

Dolgoch Falls<\/h2>\n

Location:<\/strong> Tywyn, Mid Wales<\/p>\n

Set within an idyllic wooded ravine, the Dolgoch Falls<\/a> are series of waterfalls that feed into the River Fathew. A wonderful sight to see in any season, they are particularly beautiful after a night of heavy rainfall. Just four miles from the coast, it\u2019s easy to forget how close you are to the beach once you\u2019re in the midst of this gorgeous woodland.<\/p>\n

How to get there:<\/strong> There is a free car park at the Dolgoch Falls Hotel, although donations towards the maintenance of the trail are encouraged. From here, it\u2019s around half a mile to the waterfall.<\/p>\n

Swallow Falls<\/h2>\n

Location:<\/strong> Betws-y-Coed, North Wales<\/p>\n

A recognised Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB), Swallow Falls<\/a> attracts thousands of visitors each year. Formed by the River Llugwy, it is one of the most popular waterfalls in Wales. This stunning waterfall is absolutely beautiful during the autumn months when visitors can enjoy a vibrant backdrop of fiery beech and conifer trees.<\/p>\n

How to get there:<\/strong> There is a layby just outside the falls, offering free parking. However, it can fill up fast so it\u2019s worth getting there early to grab a space. From there, it\u2019s just a short stroll over to the waterfall.<\/p>\n

Rhiwargor Waterfall<\/h2>\n

Location:<\/strong> Bala, Mid Wales<\/p>\n

\"Rhiwargor<\/p>\n

Set at the northern end of Lake Vyrnwy, the Rhiwargor Waterfall<\/a> is a sight to behold. Considered to be somewhat of a hidden gem compared to many of the other popular waterfalls in Wales, this impressive waterfall flows down the scenic valley of Afon Eiddew. Carry on along the left of the falls, and you\u2019ll find a series of pools that don\u2019t get many visitors – a lovely walk for those with dogs.<\/p>\n

How to get there:<\/strong> Follow the signs up to the waterfall from the Rhiwargor Waterfall car park. The walk is mainly flat and shouldn\u2019t be too strenuous.<\/p>\n

Pistyll Rhaeadr<\/h2>\n

Location:<\/strong> Llanrhaeadr-ym-Mochnant, Mid Wales<\/p>\n

\"Pistyll<\/p>\n

Reaching up to 40 metres, it\u2019s no surprise that Pistyll Rhaeadr<\/a> is the tallest waterfall in Wales. Formed by the Afon Disgynfa as it crashes down a 240-foot cliff-face, it is definitely worth a visit if you\u2019ll be stopping in Mid Wales. The woodland surrounding the waterfall is lovely too, and has a real fairytale feel to it.<\/p>\n

How to get there: There is a pay and display car park just a short walk from the base of the waterfall. From here, go through the gate and across the iron bridge. A separate footpath takes you up to the top of the falls, which should take around 20 minutes.<\/p>\n

Devil\u2019s Bridge Falls<\/h2>\n

Location:<\/strong> Aberystwyth, West Wales<\/p>\n

A world-renowned attraction close to the town of Aberystwyth, the Devil\u2019s Bridge Falls<\/a> can be found in the heart of the Cambrian Mountains. Crashing down into a deep gorge, these impressive falls have attracted visitors for centuries – including the famed poet, William Wordsworth.<\/p>\n

How to get there: There is a decent-sized car park at the entrance of the falls. From here, you can follow the waymarked Waterfalls Nature Trail walk. This is quite a steep circular trail but should take no longer than 45 minutes to one hour to complete.<\/p>\n

Henrhyd Falls<\/h2>\n

Location:<\/strong> Coelbren, South Wales<\/p>\n

Set within the scenic Brecon Beacons National Park, Henrhyd Falls<\/a> is one of the tallest waterfalls in South Wales. Cascading 27 metres into an enchanting wooded gorge, you\u2019ll find plenty of lovely walking routes in the surrounding Graig Llech Woods. A haven for wildlife, there\u2019s a good chance you\u2019ll hear woodpeckers and wagtails hard at work, as well as spotting trout splashing up from the lower falls. How to get there:<\/strong> There are many routes that take you towards the falls, but the easiest is from the National Trust car park near Coelbren. From here, you can follow the well-maintained path over to the waterfall.<\/p>\n

Cenarth Falls<\/h2>\n

Location:<\/strong> Cenarth, West Wales<\/p>\n

Set on the border of Carmarthenshire<\/a>, Ceredigion<\/a>, and Pembrokeshire<\/a>, the village of Cenarth is a lovely place to visit. At its heart is the river, which is fed by a series of waterfalls known as the Cenarth Falls<\/a>. Take a walk around, and you\u2019ll find pretty pools alongside the river – it\u2019s not uncommon to see salmon leaping up from the river here. In fact, it\u2019s become quite the tourist attraction!<\/p>\n

How to get there:<\/strong> You can park in the village and stroll over to the falls and river in no time at all. It\u2019s ideal for those who don\u2019t fancy a big trek.<\/p>\n
