However, some beaches have dog restrictions during certain times of the year which can be a bit of a nuisance for those holidaying with their beloved pooches. That\u2019s why we\u2019ve put together a handy guide of all the best dog-friendly beaches in Pembrokeshire.<\/p>\n

Marloes Sands<\/h2>\n

A haven for wildlife, Marloes Sands<\/a> is always full of interesting inhabitants. From the noisy gulls and super-cute puffins to the seals and porpoises who can be seen swimming past its shores, there\u2019s something new to discover on every visit. This delightful stretch of coastline stretches across 1.5 kilometres, just outside the village of Marloes. An excellent spot to sit and watch the world go by.<\/p>\n

Are there any restrictions?<\/strong> The beach is dog-friendly all year round, so your pooch can enjoy sandy paws even in the height of summer!<\/p>\n

Monkstone Beach<\/h2>\n

\"Monkstone<\/p>\n

Nestled between Saundersfoot and Tenby, Monkstone Beach<\/a> is a little slice of private paradise in between these two bustling resort towns. You won\u2019t find a commercial car park along its sands – the easiest way to access it is through a steep, yet well-maintained footpath through the nearby Trevayne Farm. Or, if you don\u2019t mind a good walk, you can reach it from Saundersfoot when the tide is low (but be sure to check this before setting out!).<\/p>\n

Are there any restrictions?<\/strong> No dog restrictions here either, so run wild!<\/p>\n

Newport Sands<\/h2>\n

Set at the mouth of the River Nevern, Newport Sands<\/a> offers plenty of space for dogs to splash about and let off some steam. A popular spot for watersports, you\u2019ll likely see canoes and windsurfers sailing by as you enjoy the fresh sea air. At low tide, bring your wellies and you can wade all the way over to Newport Parrog – another lovely beach in the area.<\/p>\n

Are there any restrictions?<\/strong> No dog restrictions here at all.<\/p>\n

Barafundle Bay<\/h2>\n

This popular Pembrokeshire beach<\/a> is regularly recognised as one of the best beaches in the world, and once you\u2019ve stepped foot on it, it\u2019s incredibly easy to see why! With its powdery sands and turquoise shores, Barafundle Bay<\/a> is often compared to those on idyllic Caribbean islands, which can make it quite a hotspot during the peak summer months.<\/p>\n

The beach is around a half a mile walk from the Stackpole Quay car park, so it\u2019s not ideal for those with elderly dogs who might struggle down the steep steps. Looking for more things to do in the area? Bosherston Lily Ponds<\/a> are just a short drive away and provide a relaxing spot to soak up the local wildlife.<\/p>\n

Are there any restrictions?<\/strong> The bay is dog-friendly throughout the year, with no restrictions at all!<\/p>\n

Freshwater West<\/h2>\n

A beautiful beach with golden sands and emerald waters, Freshwater West<\/a> is a popular surfing beach in Pembrokeshire<\/a> – boasting some of the best waves in the county. Of course, there\u2019s no need to don your wetsuit and hit the surf to make the most of your lovely surroundings, there are plenty of lovely walks to be enjoyed in the area. It\u2019s so picturesque, in fact, that it\u2019s actually been featured as the backdrop to Dobby\u2019s Shell Cottage<\/a> in the Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows film.<\/p>\n

Are there any restrictions?<\/strong> Dogs are allowed throughout the year, no seasonal restrictions apply.<\/p>\n

Manorbier Bay<\/h2>\n

\"Manorbier<\/p>\n

Widely regarded as one of the most beautiful beaches in Wales, Manorbier Bay<\/a> is backed by lush hillsides, the medieval Manorbier Castle, and even a Neolithic tomb. Whether you\u2019re there for the history or to simply enjoy the sea views, there\u2019s something to keep everyone entertained. After a good walk, you can head into the village and enjoy a refreshing drink in one of its cafes or restaurants.<\/p>\n

Are there any restrictions?<\/strong> Nope, yet another Pembrokeshire beach that allows dogs year-round without restrictions.<\/p>\n

Tenby South Beach<\/h2>\n

\"Tenby<\/p>\n

Stretching over a mile and a half, Tenby South Beach<\/a> offers so much room for families and dog-walkers to enjoy the coast without it ever feeling too crowded.<\/p>\n

If you ever grow tired of those stunning sea views, you\u2019ll find a whole host of woodland walks nearby – ideal for tiring your four-legged friend out before heading back to your cottage. For those who enjoy having a good paddle, there are lifeguards who patrol the beach from the end of May until the start of September.<\/p>\n

Are there any restrictions?<\/strong> Dog restrictions apply to a small section of the beach below the cliffs, although they only apply during the summer months.<\/p>\n

Lydstep Haven Beach<\/h2>\n

\"Lydstep<\/p>\n

A mix of sand and shingle, Lydstep Haven Beach<\/a> boasts spectacular views across Caldey Island and is one of the best beaches in West Wales<\/a>. Much like Tenby South Beach, it\u2019s backed by wooded cliffs that provide a great selection of scenic walking routes.<\/p>\n

The beach itself is popular for a number of watersports, including swimming, fishing, and sailing. At low tide, it\u2019s worth checking out the nearby Lydstep Caverns.<\/p>\n

Are there any restrictions?<\/strong> Most of the beach is dog-friendly, however, there are dog restrictions on the eastern end between May and September.<\/p>\n

Newgale Beach<\/h2>\n

With two miles of golden sand and impressive surf, Newgale Beach<\/a> is incredibly popular with surfers and kayakers throughout the year. This excellent Blue Flag beach is perfect for taking the dogs out for a scenic walk, and you\u2019ll have access to a number of handy facilities including toilets, cafes, and beach shops along the seafront. Thinking about having a quick paddle or swim? Lifeguards patrol the beach during the peak summer months making it one of the most popular family-friendly beaches in Pembrokeshire<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Are there any restrictions?<\/strong> Between May and September, dog restrictions apply to the middle third of the beach – although the rest is dog-friendly.<\/p>\n
