January

Whitesands New Years Day Swim | 1st January 2024

Wash away the cobwebs from the night before and take a dip in the sea. The Whitesands New Years Day Swim takes place off the shores of Whitesands Beach on the rocky headland of St David’s Head.

The idyllic white sand beach is the perfect place to start the year! After the swim, all participants are invited to The Farmers Arms Pub, where you can enjoy a warming bowl of Cawl, live music and a quiz!

Registration is at 11am followed by the swim at 12pm. The event costs £5 with proceeds going to the Pothmawr Surf Live Sailing Club and various other charities.

Saundersfoot New Years Swim | 1st January 2024

Thousands flock to the popular village of Pembrokeshire every year on January 1st to take part in the Saundersfoot New Year’s Swim.

This year is the 37th event and swimmers can expect the usual delights! Be greeted by swim mascot Charlie Shivers, before warming up with a party time disco session. Courtesy of the Cast and Crew Performing Arts School.

As swimmers make their way towards the sea, there will be a firework launch to start proceedings off with a bang! Afterwards, each swimmer will receive a medal.

The event starts at 12pm and fancy dress is optional. The winner will receive a Finla paddleboard!

Hen Galan New Years Celebration | 13th January 2024

One of the most traditional Pembrokeshire events is the Hen Galan New Years celebration. Taking place almost two weeks after the rest of the world, according to the Julian calendar.

This charming event sees children singing door to door in exchange for sweets or money.

And what is New Years without a party? Residents make their way to the popular Dyffryn Arms (Bessies) share a tipple or two!

If the festive period passed by too quickly for you, head to Gwuan Valley to continue the celebrations!

March

Dragon Parade | 2nd March 2024

What better to immerse yourself in Welsh tradition than with the annual St David’s Dragon Parade?

Organised by the Oriel y Parc Gallery and Visitor Centre. The parade sees members of the community marching the streets.

The event beings at 11am and includes free workshops with a local artist to create a dragon!

Narbeth A Cappella Voice Fesitval | 2nd March 2024

The NAVF Festival is an uplifting weekend of singing and a celebration of voice in Narberth.

Well-known for its diverse line-up of performances and workshops. The Nartbeth A Capella Voice Festival brings the joy of a cappella to Pembrokeshire.

The Laugharne Weekend | 15th – 17th March 2024

A weekend of music, book reading and poetry. The Laugharne Weekend is a literary and arts festival, taking place every year in West Wales.

The small-scale festival is an intimate affair, using Laugharne’s churches, halls and tiny venues. Previous headline performers include Charlotte Church, Richard Osman, Harry Hill and Patti Smith.

Tour of Pembrokeshire | 27th April 2024

A weekend highlighting the beauty of the Pembrokeshire Coast. If you’re a keen cyclist, this is a must-do event in Pembrokeshire, attracting cyclists from all over the world.

Fishguard Folk Festival | 24th – 26th May 2024

The Fishguard Folk Festival is a traditional music festival, taking place over the May Bank Holiday Weekend.

With three days of songs, dancing and food, the popular festival brings the town to life every year.

Fishguard is a picturesque town in Pembrokeshire, home to stunning coastal scenery and a charming harbour.

Milfords The Big Beer Festival is a vibrant festival raising money for charitable causes. Taking place on the beautiful Milford Waterfront, you can expect live music, dancing, real ales and street food.

Renowned for its natural harbour, speckled with cafes, restaurants, shops and a bowling alley. Don’t miss out on a visit to Milford Haven when looking for Pembrokeshire events to attend!

The Big Retreat Festival | 24th – 27h May 2024

Find your feel good at The Big Retreat Festival in Lawrenny, Pembrokeshire. Ever left a festival feeling more relaxed than when you arrived? The Big Retreat promises just that.

Voted as one of the UK’s best wellbeing and adventure festivals by the Guardian, the family-friendly festival is a chance to relax and reflect. Events and workshops include yoga, fire walking, bushcraft, pilates, mindset talks and more.

St Davids Cathedral Festival | 24th – 29th May 2024

The next addition, and the longest, to our What’s on Pembrokeshire 2024 guide is St Davids Cathedral Festival.

The event is a hive of music, with contemporary and classical performances in the magnificent setting of St Davids Cathedral.

Past performers at this popular festival include the BBC National Orchestra of Wales.

Family events and workshops are available, including singing, music and theatre. So, there is something for everyone to enjoy!

June

Challenge Wales Triathlon | 9th June 2024

If you’re seeking a challenge, then the award-winning Challenge Wales Triathlon is for you!

Split into a 1.2-mile swim in Fishguard Bay, a 56-mile cycle and a 13.1-mile run. The course is suitable for both new and experienced athletes.

Along the routes, you will see the best of St Davids, Trefin, Mathry, The Parrog and the coast.

Why not reward yourself with a tasty meal at the Rose & Crown once you’ve finished!

Unearthed Festival | TBC

Located near St Davids in Pembrokeshire, Unearthed Festival is a three-day festival with a focus on sustainability, consciousness and community. Enjoy a range of reggae, world and folk music whilst surrounded by the stunning Pembrokeshire countryside.

Unearthed Festival is a festival that “celebrates the expansion of consciousness through music and arts, talks and workshops, vegetarian food and community spirit.”

July

Pembrokeshire Coast Triathlon – 6th July 2024

Surrounded by the stunning scenery of the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park, is this award-winning, sell-out event.

The Pembrokeshire Coast Triathlon attracts thousands every year. Split into a 1500m swim, 43km bike ride, and 10.6 km run, you can experience all the elements of Pembrokeshire’s coast and countryside.

The Fishguard and West Wales International Music Festival | 18th – 31st July 2024

Taking place every summer, the Fishguard and West Wales International Music Festival brings in world-class musicians to venues across Pembrokeshire.

Showcasing the very best of orchestral, jazz, folk and world music, the festival has brought more than 50 years of world-class music to West Wales.

The Edge Festival | 26th – 28th July 2024

Overlooking the Pembrokeshire Coast Path, in the delightful village of Solva, The Edge Festival is a three-day music and arts extravaganza. As a celebration of Arts, Music, Food, Sport, Film and Literature, there is something for everyone at The Edge.

August

Milford Street Food Festival | 9th – 11th August 2024

Held over two days on the awe-inspiring Milford Waterfront, is the renowned Milford Street Food Festival.

Offering a wide variety of mouth-watering and freshly prepared food and drink, this event is sure to whet your appetite!

What could be better than tucking into an array of food options with a cold beer and waterfront views?

Cardigan River and Food Festival | 17th August 2024

Set along the River Teifi in the historic town of Cardigan, is the foodie favourite of Cardigan River and Food Festival.

Wander the variety of stalls, where food vendors will take your taste buds on a culinary journey! The stalls cater to vegans and vegetarians too.

This fun-filled day out features all-day entertainment, including singers, dancers, crafts and talks. As well as RNLI demonstrations and coracle rides for those wanting to get out on the water.

Pembrokeshire County Show | 14th – 15th August 2024

Wales’ largest country show involves three days of family fun. If you’re looking for a Pembrokeshire event to remember, then the Pembrokeshire Country Show is an absolute must.

Take a look at the cattle to see who will win ‘Best in Show’, witness some impressive show jumping and enjoy a ride on the fairground attractions.

The event attracts 100,000 visitors every year. So, whether you’re a local or visiting during the summer holidays, this is a great experience for the whole family.

September

Ironman Wales | 22nd September 2024

A sunrise swim, a rugged coastal bike ride and a run through the atmospheric town-centre of Tenby. Are you ready for the iconic Ironman, Wales?

With a 2.4-mile swim, 112-mile bike ride and 26.2-mile run (yep – that’s a full marathon!) to finish, this Pembrokeshire event is not for the faint-hearted.

However, Ironman Wales attracts thousands of enthusiastic supporters to the coastal town. Inspiring every competitor to the finish line.

Narberth Food Festival | 28th – 29th September 2024

With entertainment, guest chefs and over 50 stalls of scrumptious food, the Narberth Food Festival attracts foodies from all over the UK.

The festival, established in 1998 and run by volunteers, is hosted in the gorgeous little market town of Narberth.

October

Saundersfoot Big Bang Weekend | TBC

This family-friendly Pembrokeshire event combines both Halloween and Bonfire Night. Held over two days, you can expect spooktacular delights and bonfire magic!

Jam-packed with activities, including a Trick or Treat trail, a disco and a fancy dress competition for the little ones. As well as pumpkin carving with plenty of prizes up for grabs!

The whole village gets involved. With local businesses and owners dressing themselves up and their windows in a spooky theme!

Not forgetting the fantastic bonfire activities, a funfair and two firework displays over the water. It is magical!

Cwtch Festival is a three-day event that caters for all music tastes in the much-loved city of St Davids.

Over 50 acts playing across different venues. You can expect everything from rock and the blues to folk music.

November

Milford Waterfront Fireworks Night | TBC

The Milford Haven Round Table Fireworks extravaganza takes place every November. It is one of the most classic Pembrokeshire events.

This family-friendly evening is full of live music, entertainment, fairground rides and, of course, a grand firework display.

The spectacular display takes place on the water in front of the Mackeral Quay at Milford Waterfront.

Pembroke Castle Christmas Market | TBC

There’s nothing better than a Christmas market to get you in the festive spirit. Pembroke Castles‘ is no exception!

Browse an array of stalls with a mulled wine in hand. You’ll find everything from crafts and trinkets to bespoke gifts!

The little ones can even pay a visit to Santa in his grotto to tell him their Christmas wishes!

Saundersfoot Christmas Festival | TBC

With over 60 exhibitors, live music, Santa’s Grotto, fun fair and illuminations, the Saundersfoot Christmas Festival is a festive occasion like no other.

The Lantern Parade, led by Santa himself, is a highlight of the weekend and is sure to get you into the Christmas spirit.

Tenby Santa Run | TBC

Don your best beard and Santa suit as you join hundreds in the annual Tenby Santa Run!

The 3-5K route takes runners, joggers and walkers through the historic town of Tenby. Expect some fantastic sites!

Booking in advance in encouraged. Adult tickets are £10 and children are £5, Santa suits are included in the entry fee!

Tenby Boxing Day Swim | 26th December 2024

Named as one of the UK’s top ten winter dips, the Tenby Boxing Day Swim takes place from North Beach, Tenby. Organised by the Tenby Sea Swimming Association, hundreds of swimmers take the plunge every year to raise money for charity.

So the question is, are you brave enough to take a Boxing Day dip?

Fishguard’s New Year’s Eve Street Party | 31st December 2024

With a reputation of being one of the best New Years Eve street parties in Wales, Fishguard’s New Year’s Eve Street Party is centred around Fishguard Square.

Expect live music from the stage, plenty of dancing and stalls selling food and drink. At midnight an impressive firework display lights up the sky to see in the New Year.
