cwmtydu beach

Cwmtydu is a small village and beach, hidden in a beautiful valley on the Ceredigion coast.

Cwmtydu has seen human activity for thousands of years and just along the coast path to the north of Cwmtydu beach you can find the remains of and Iron Age farmstead – now mostly washed away by the sea, a raised earthen bank is all that is still visible.

Curious to find out more about this scenic corner of Wales? Here’s our guide to exploring Cwntydu Beach…

Cwmtydu Beach

cwmtydu

Surrounded by idyllic valleys, Cwmtydu is a hidden gem set along the Cardigan Bay coast. Cwmtydu Beach is one of West Wales’s most beautiful beaches and a popular tourist destination for friends and family alike.

A popular spot for seal watching, in certain times of the year you’ll often see cute seal pups lounging along the rocks. If you are lucky enough to spot seals, be sure to keep your dogs on a lead. Behind the beach is a very well-preserved lime kiln which would have supplied the valley and surrounds with lime for fields and buildings during the last century or two.

If you’re up for a good walk, a section of the Wales Coast Path runs through Cwmtydu. This scenic trail offers some serious climbs and incredible coastal views, making it well worth the effort if even if you just want a short yet rewarding stroll.

Cwmtydu Beach Facilities

The village is very popular during the summer months and with limited parking, it is advisable to set off early if you wish to park. In the village is a small cafe, a takeaway that also sells ice creams and not much else.

Can dogs visit Cwmtydu Beach?

Unfortunately, there are dog restrictions on certain sections of the beach between the start of May and the end of September. However, dogs are free to roam during off-peak seasons (but do keep an eye out for baby seal pups!).
