Travel further afield to the old market town of Dolgellau, renowned as one of the most stunning places to explore within Eryri (Snowdonia); here you can have fantastic walks, enjoy the thrill of mountain biking and then choose from a plethora of eateries after an action-packed day.

Dolgellau 16 miles; Aberystwyth 18 miles.

The small market town of Machynlleth sits amid the rolling hills of Mid Wales. The streets of the town spread out from the 19th Century clock tower, and offer a good mix of specialist shops, pubs, and cafes, in addition to the regular street markets held every Wednesday. The town boasts two art galleries, and is home to the Museum of Modern Arts, Wales, which showcases the work of a variety of international artists, as well as staging concerts and lectures in its 400 seater auditorium. Just ten miles from the coast, Machynlleth is also ideally placed for taking advantage of superb walking, riding, fishing and rock climbing available in the area.
