“The cottage was comfortable and in a delightful setting; private yet close to amenities and to the beach.”

It had everything we needed. The location was ideal for easy access to Newport, Cardigan, Fishguard and St. David's and there were plenty of places to keep us occupied. I would definitely recommend Ffynnon Wen!

“It’s been a while since we spent our holiday in Wales but we were so glad we found Ffynnon Wen, a lovely cottage in a great little village.”

It was comfortable, (especially the big cosy bed), spotlessly clean throughout, nicely decorated with lovely wistful ornamental additions here and there. And the owners had taken a great deal of trouble to ensure that everything needed was at our fingertips. Brilliant cooking facilities from a excellent range and the fridge freezer was quite a size. At the front of the property the parking was a real bonus and the surroundings very peaceful and private. The little rear patio area was a wonderful sun trap which, being sheltered on all four sides, completely blocked any wind. Just a couple of things we would change. A summer quilt on the bed would be great and if the cut out for the front door mat was not quite so deep it would avoid the constant “Oops! Done it again’. But they are very minor ‘cons’, as opposed to the many ‘pros’. Many thanks to the owners for taking the trouble for making our stay so enjoyable and for the Welsh cakes and milk which was much appreciated upon our arrival. We hope to return in the future and if holidaying in Pembrokeshire we would not consider going elsewhere. (Dudley the cockapoo says thanks for having me. Loved the garden

The property

This lovely mid-terrace cottage of Ffynnon Wen is situated in Dinas Cross, Pembrokeshire.

It's ideal for a family of four, as it's close to the shore, so you can enjoy neighbouring beaches before returning to the peace and tranquillity of this rural location.

The property has access to a shared driveway with space for up to two cars, allowing you to park and unload your bags as soon as you arrive.

Make yourself at home in the delightful living/dining room, where exposed masonry and a feature cast fire add character to the space; take a seat on the sumptuous sofa and watch a movie with your loved ones after a busy day.

When you're feeling peckish, head to the farmhouse-style kitchen, which is well-equipped, with a huge range stove and a convenient dishwasher.

When the group's aspiring chef has prepared a scrumptious lunch, enjoy it at the adjacent dining table while catching up on the day's events; alternatively, take it outside to the charming, gravelled garden for a tranquil, alfresco dinner!

As the day comes to an end, proceed upstairs to find two inviting bedrooms, one a twin room with access to a contemporary shower room, and the other a double with the quirky elements of a vaulted ceiling with exposed beams, as well as access to a lovely en-suite bathroom.

As well as the private rear garden, there is a shared garden down some steep steps at the front of the home which allows you to enjoy the evening sun or to take a leisurely stroll into woodland down to the stream which borders the property.

Being at Dinas Cross means you're only a stone's throw away from The Ship Aground and the Masons Arms and a well-stocked convenience shop providing all you require for a self-catering holiday.

If you want to spend some time at the beach, the shores of Abberfforest, Cwm yr Eglwys, and Pwllgwaelod are only a short walk away and make for perfect family outings!

Travel to the neighbouring town of Newport to view the stunning River Nevern Wildfowl Conservation Area and Newport Beach, then travel further inland to the iconic 5,500-year-old Neolithic Pentre Ifan Burial Chamber.

Visit Fishguard, a picturesque seaside town with the gorgeous Lower Town, the setting for Richard Burton and Elizabeth Taylor's 'Under Milk Wood' and visit the Town Hall to view the wonderful 'Last Invasion Tapestry' which tells the story of the last invasion of mainland Britain in 1797.

There's plenty more to see, so why not follow the Pembrokeshire Coastal Path to Cardigan or catch a boat from Fishguard to Rosslare or visit the UKs smallest city with a trip to view St Davids stunning cathedral?

Ffynnon Wen is wonderful base for any coastal getaway, where you will create everlasting memories with those who mean most.

The scattered village of Dinas Cross has a well stocked mini market store and a pub, and nestles between the Preseli Mountains and the wonderful Pembrokeshire Coast Path. Pwll Gwaelod and Cwm-Yr-Eglwys beaches are both minutes away, both with breathtaking scenery offering the opportunity for tranquil days in perfect settings, and are almost unnoticed by the general public unless they leave the main route through the village, with there being a petrol station, two pubs a fish and chip shop, as well as a restaurant down at Pwll Gwaelod beach. Nearby Newport is a quirky seaside town steeped in history, with various shops, tea rooms and pubs and is also a great place to go boating. With castles, mills, craft centres and golf courses galore scattered all over this beautiful Welsh county, this is the perfect base for a break all year round.
