“The cottage was gorgeous and well equipped with everything we needed for our stay.”

Very cozy and comfortable too. We thoroughly enjoyed our holiday and the helpful guide book left by our hosts was very handy plus we were given a lovely welcome basket with lots of treats. Thank you for a great holiday.

The property

Strumble Head 3.5 miles, Fishguard 5 miles, St Davids 13.5 miles.

Bwthyn Gynon is a wonderful, semi-detached cottage, located near the iconic Strumble Head Lighthouse, in a tranquil area within the Pembrokeshire countryside.

The home is ideal for families who like to explore the outdoors, with views of the countryside and Garn Fawr, as well as private parking for two cars.

When you arrive, head inside to find your delightful accommodation, which has original tile flooring throughout.

Continue to the lounge/diner, a room brimming with character, owing to the original chimney area, the 'Simne Fawr', which now houses the wooden dining table.

There's also a beautifully equipped, shaker-style galley kitchen with a lot of appliances available for the designated chef.

After a delicious meal, proceed to the sitting room, a lovely place with cushioned seating set in front of the TV, where you can unwind in front of the crackling, wood burning stove (a complementary starter pack for wood burning stove is provided from 1st November to 31st March and available to purchase at all other times) and pop on a DVD from the selection available.

As the day comes to an end, go upstairs to find two fantastic bedrooms, the first of which enjoys spacious interiors, whilst the other features a bed that is situated opposite the window, so you can enjoy those amazing views as you relax.

The bathroom offers an invigorating rinse beneath a rainfall shower or soak up in the p-shaped bath; you're spoilt for choice!

The cottage is complemented by two excellent outdoor areas, one of which is a front lawned space and the other is an enclosed back garden surrounded by mature shrubbery, which allows for a fantastic location for some alfresco meals.

Take in the stunning Pembrokeshire Coast Path, which is less than a mile's walk from the cottage or travel a short distance to Strumble Head for one of Pembrokeshire's picture-postcard sights, before taking in a cuppa at the cafe at Melin Tregwynt (working woollen mill with shop).

Then head down to the city of St Davids, home to a breath-taking cathedral, as well as nearby beaches, including the beautiful stretch of Whitesands Bay.

For more coastal fun, go coasteering at Abereiddi's Blue Lagoon before enjoying a sumptuous meal in Porthgain's Sloop Inn or The Shed bistro - take your pick!

Finally, head back to Fishguard, near the site of the last invasion of mainland Britain in 1797, with its incredible Last Invasion Tapestry in the Town Hall and the story of our indomitable Jemima Nicholas!

From the mythical Preseli Hills down to Marloes Sands, the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park has so much more to offer, which you can enjoy during a stay at Bwthyn Gynon.

Note: This property has a Good Housekeeping bond of £200.

About the location

GOODWICK

Fishguard 2 miles; Newport 9 miles; St. Davids 15 miles.

Goodwick is a picturesque coastal village overlooking the bay where the twice daily ferries run to Ireland. With a variety of shops, cafes, pubs and a small supermarket, it offers everything you need. The twin town of Fishguard is only two miles away, where you will find more unique shops, a delicatessen, pubs, restaurants and the Last Invasion Tapestry, which is based on the famous Welsh ladies' victory over the French and has been compared to the Bayeux Tapestry. Located in such a great coastal position, the Pembrokeshire and Cardiganshire section of the world-famous Welsh coastal path is right on your doorstep, so enjoy the scenic walks, outstandingly beautiful beaches, the opportunity to watch dolphins and seals and so much more! From lazy, warm summer days to wild and windy winter days, the scenery is ever-changing and always remarkable. Historic castles, theme parks, art galleries, kayaking, coasteering and boat trips to the islands are all nearby and St. Davids, the smallest city in the UK, with its magnificent cathedral is a short drive away, while the coastal town of Newport, with its fantastic beach, is closer still. A perfect location all year round.
