Ysgubor Hir

We loved it here, the property, owners, location and facilities were fabulous

What a wonderful property.

Ysgubor Hir (Long Barn) is the perfect place to base yourself to explore South & West Wales, Dawn & Brian are wonderful hosts. Welcomed us on the day we arrived with a lovely goodies basket, checked in with us regularly to ensure we were happy with everything. Always happy to have a chat and really cared that we were comfortable. Thank you both for making our week at Ysgubor Hir so enjoyable. See you in 2027. Cymru am byth.

Thank you so much to Dawn and Brian for our most enjoyable and relaxing week at Ysgubor Hir.

A very well presented property in a great setting, with a personal warm welcome from Dawn soon after arrival, and a much appreciated welcome pack. So much to see and do in the area. Would thoroughly recommend.

Nicely located in the countryside, the property is extremely well equipped, warm and very comfortable.

We enjoyed countryside walks and visits to the local pubs and cafes. It is close to little friendly towns such as Llandeilo and Laugharne, very convenient when visiting our new granddaughter. We will definitely be returning.

The barn was beautiful.

Very clean. Plenty of space. Alot bigger than we thought. Peaceful and quiet location. Good directions. Lovely welcome basket, accommodation was always warm. Great parking. Amazing host, very helpful, nothing was too much trouble. Will definitely be back. Can't recommend enough.

Ysgubor Hir is a roomy, well-equipped cottage in the Carmarthenshire countryside.

The owners are very friendly and helpful if you need anything. We have stayed there twice now when visiting family in the area and I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a break in this part of Wales.

We stayed here at short notice over the New Year and had a wonderful few days.

Dawn was a great host and the welcome basket was a nice touch. The property was warm, cosy and very welcoming. It was very clean and had more than enough of everything we needed. The views are lovely. We would happily return.

We had a fantastic stay at this cottage and couldn’t have asked for more.

The owner went above and beyond, beautifully decorating the barn for the festive season and leaving some thoughtful treats that made our family feel truly welcome. It really was a home away from home and helped make our time in South Wales very special. The location is excellent, surrounded by stunning countryside with charming small towns nearby, lovely pubs, and several supermarkets all within a short 10-minute drive. The barn itself is incredibly comfortable, with excellent underfloor heating that was perfect for chilly winter days. The spacious kitchen is fully equipped with everything you could need, and the cosy living room is well stocked with family games, making it ideal for relaxing together. Parking is plentiful, and there are also some lovely outdoor areas to enjoy when the weather is warmer. We loved our stay here and wouldn’t hesitate to return. We very much hope to come back again in the near future.

Lovely, well appointed, tranquil cottage that was perfect for our multi-generational holiday.

Fantastic facilities, a real home from home. Dawn made us feel very welcome with a tasty welcome basket and pumpkins for the children to carve. The cottage is well situated for visiting Swansea and the surrounding area.

We spent a very pleasant week in this lovely property.

Everything we needed was provided and the location was peaceful and quiet, which was just what we wanted. Mr and Mrs Richards were the perfect hosts, friendly and welcoming. The welcome hamper was a delightful touch, with lots of nice goodies that we really appreciated. A great break with lots to do and see.

Book now, don't delay.

This property is breathtaking, beautifully decorated and well laid out. Ample room for all guests to enjoy, plenty of family spaces but always enough space to get lost in the property! The beautiful high ceilings added to the luxury feeling of this property, the bedrooms beautifully decorated and the kitchen was perfect to host the family. All mod cons for a longer stay too.

Beautifully situated, clean, very comfortable, convenient for shops and eating establishments.

Very adequate for us, four adults and two youngsters. Nice welcome pack. Friendly owners who very quickly remedied a small boiler problem. Thoroughly recommended.

Spent a week at this lovely cottage in August.

The cottage was amazing. Very comfortable, spacious and clean. The lovely welcome basket full of goodies was a big hit with the kids! The owner was lovely who came to check in on day 1 and the second to last day to ensure all was ok. She was very kind and helpful. Excellent location with so many things to do locally. We will definitely be returning to this cottage

Property is in a peaceful location and very convenient for exploring the local area.

Cottage was clean, well maintained, comfortable and had all the amenities we needed. There was a welcome basket on arrival and owner answered any questions that we had. Lovely peaceful cottage to return to at end of a long exploring day.

We had a fantastic week at Ysgubor Hir in a beautiful part of Wales, helped with some fantastic summer weather.

The accommodation was lovely and spacious and immaculately clean, was lovely to meet Dawn who was very informative of the area and left a nice started pack, milk and flowers. Loads of places to visit in 20 mile radius from the Mumbles to the Royal botanic gardens of Wales. Would definitely recommend the accommodation and area. Many thanks Gary and Cherril.

The barn cottage was more than expected comfotable ensuite room spacious lounge and well equipped kitchen.

Good to have both bath and shower facilities. Hosts were informative and available if needed. Lovely flowers and welcome pack much appreciated. Overall an exceptional weeks break.

Everything was excellent.

Well equipped warm and welcoming and very clean. Thank you

A lovely cottage set in rural surroundings and yet within easy driving distance of so many places of interest and lovely walks.

We received a warm welcome from the owner. The cottage itself was well equipped. We very much enjoyed our stay and if we want to visit this area again we will certainly be happy to return to this property.

Fantastic holiday home for 6 of us including 2 small children.

Very homely and relaxing, Dawn was great in coming back on any questions we had and even during the week of our stay.

A spacious, warm and comfortable property.

The cottage is well laid out and beautifully decorated, reflecting the local area. It is in a pretty rural setting, but not too far from facilities. The kitchen was well stocked with equipment, and all the crockery and cutlery we could need. The owners were very friendly, helpful and available for any issues arising, although we did not experience any. There are several good places to eat out within a short drive, as well as a decent sized supermarket.

Highly recommend this property, I have mobility difficulties but the layout is suitable for all.

Very comfortable and hope to return in the future.

What a lovely holiday home.

It’s such a comfortable place to stay with plenty of space. Cooking was easy as the kitchen had everything needed to prepare and serve meals. We had beautiful weather so we were able to sit out on the patio and make the most of the evening sunshine. Whilst there was a feeling of rural remoteness, there was a convenient shop and two good pubs serving food in the nearby village, all within a five minute drive. One of the cleanest holiday homes we’ve stayed at with very friendly and relaxed owners close by. Thank you very much for the basket of treats and milk.

A superb property, perfect for a quiet, relaxing break, which is exactly what we wanted.

Lovely countryside round about and a small general store and The Bird in Hand pub just under an hour’s walk, or short drive away. We would definitely stay here again.

The cottage was wonderful.

So warm and welcoming. Felt like home . Everything you could ever need is in the cottage . Lovely welcome basket and fresh flowers too . Dawn and Brian are wonderful owners and will assist with anything if needed . We stayed in it to attend our daughter's wedding, the whole week was wonderful . We will definitely be back . The area is amazing. So many places to visit

Lovely accommodation.

Very welcoming and helpful host. Would recommend this cottage. Hope to come back again

Pics on internet just don’t capture the homely feel the cottage provides.

We were actually sad to leave. As for the hosts, whilst they left us at peace, they were only a minute away if needed. Friendly & accommodating. Highly recommend! ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️

The owners were very nice and accommodating.

Really nice facilities. Was set up lovely with Christmas decorations.

Lovely cottage.

Very comfortable and perfect for us with my disabled mother. Quiet location but still central for visiting numerous places within half an hour and further afield. Owners very helpful. Eventful stay this time with storm Daragh the day after we arrived. Looking forward to our next stay.

This is a home from home experience.

It's warm, comfortable, great space. Everything you could need has been supplied. The hosts are very welcoming and friendly. The area is a great base and watching the wildlife in the fields around us relaxing If we return to this area I would definitely come back.

Can't fault this place at all, we've had a lot of cottage,s over the year's and this is the best, very roomy, great location, only a few miles from end of M4,

Just spent an enjoyable week at Ysgubor Hir.

Very comfortable and well equipped. We went out for our main meals (two local pubs provided excellent food) but the kitchen at the cottage had every facility for cooking. The hob was slightly on the slow side, but who is in a rush on holiday? The owners were very helpful and friendly and had left a lovely welcome basket of goodies. One of the smoke alarms started beeping whilst we were there but the owners came to fix it immediately when we reported it. Nothing was too much trouble. Highly recommended!

So pleased to have found Ysgubor Hir - it was a real treat to stay here!

Excellent location for exploring South Wales, quiet but well connected, spacious, warm and welcoming. A real home from home - only better! Many thanks for a relaxing and thoroughly enjoyable stay.

Thank you Dawn and Brian, we had a lovely week at Ysgubor Hir.

There was a delicious selection of treats to welcome us when we arrived. The weather wasn't amazing but there was still plenty to keep us entertained, indoors and out. Cottage was well stocked and maintained and we wanted for nothing. Lovely outdoor area for the kids to play and an excellent selection of books, games and Dvds for indoor time. Thanks again, we hope to come back!

The 4 of us thoroughly enjoyed our week’s stay at Ysgubor Hir.

The accommodation was tastefully furnished, decorated , incredibly comfortable, spotless and very well equipped . We enjoyed the location set in peaceful beautiful surroundings . Dawn and Brian were amazing hosts . They were so friendly , warm and helpful . Nothing was too much trouble . They even provided a welcome basket of tasty goodies on arrival that was so appreciated and enjoyed . Thank you both so much you were brilliant . We would highly recommend this property .

We stayed at the cottage as a family of 5 ( 2 adults and 3 children) and found everything exceeded our expectations.

We found a thoughtful welcome basket waiting for us on our arrival and milk in the fridge which was very helpful as we arrived in the evening plus the heating had been turned on in anticipation of our arrival so it was lovely and warm. The house has everything you might need, a fully equipped kitchen, books to read and games to play. It was exceptionally clean and comfortable. Outside the property are beautiful views. The host, Dawn was so lovely and friendly and welcoming and very helpful. I would highly recommend a stay here.

We had a lovely time at Ysgubor Hir.

Dawn is friendly and helpful, we felt very welcome. We found the beds very comfortable and warm and the kitchen well stocked with whatever you need for cooking. There is a large family bathroom and the large king size room has an en-suite. There is a nice double room next to the bathroom and a shower room off the utility room (through the kitchen). There are 11 steps leading up to the attic room where the twin beds are. Something to be aware of if you have mobility issues or young children (but we did notice a stair gate in the cupboard should you need it) this is a lovely light spacious room with a great view out of the Velux windows. There are sloping ceilings either side in this room though, so mind your head! Also no door so sound does carry. My husband and I slept in this room and we were very comfortable and slept really well. The lounge is spacious as is the well equipped kitchen. There is seating outside at the back for 6 which we made good use of. Lovely views across the fields, (11 young cows in the front field) and plenty of space for parking. Pontarddulais is a town (we were expecting a village) so pleasantly surprised to find a Tesco with petrol station, where we were able to get all we needed for the week. Chips shops, pubs, cafes etc are not too far away. We visited Tenby which has a lovely selection of shops but very busy especially during the lunch time period. Saundersfoot is lovely and quieter and 3 miles from Tenby, probably better for meals too. We visited the Mumbles and had a lovely meal at The Woodman. Clyne Park is well worth a visit and is free. We visited the tropical zoo and would have done the botanical gardens, but too much walking for two of our party. All in all we had a lovely peaceful relaxing week and would definitely recommend it. Thank you Dawn it was a pleasure meeting you.

The property has everything you could possibly need, it’s very comfortable with lots of space for 4 adults and 2 children.

We had a lovely weeks stay, one highlight for us all was watching the cows running in the field. There’s lots of outside space for kids to play, Grandsons played football in the field at the back. Dawn & Richard are great hosts, very friendly, it’s easy to see why the reviews are all so good. Recommend the Bird in Hand, delicious food. Hopefully we will be back.

The cottage was lovely and set in beautiful surroundings.

Dawn and Brian the owners were really nice and helpful. There was a basket of goodies in the kitchen when we arrived and milk in the fridge which was a nice touch. There was more than enough pans and kitchen utensils and good quality crockery. The rooms were large and nicely decorated and furnished. The outside was was pretty both front and back and the cattle came to the fence to say hello. it was an ideal spot for visiting the Botanic Gardens of Wales, The Mumbles, Gower peninsular, Garreg Cennin Castle and Aberafon beach. The Ocean Blue fish and chips in Ty Croes are the best ever.

Ysgubor Hir is a lovely spacious comfortable barn conversion style holiday home.

Plenty of space outside for parking, plus very comfortable patio furniture & seating to make the most of any good weather. Ample room for children to play, quiet countryside location. Very welcoming owners& a generous welcome basket. Ysgubor Hir is in great location for visiting South& South West Wales. We look forward to returning. Gill & Mike May 24

High-spec, roomy cottage set in pretty countryside.

We had a lovely week there with our two very young children. The owners are friendly and helpful. I'd definitely recommend it!

Everything was lovely.

The cottage is well equipped and comfortable with plenty of space. It is situated in a quiet location yet is convenient for the coast or for inland trips. My only comment is that the lighting in the kitchen isn't quite bright enough for those of us who are elderly and/or with slightly less than perfect vision.

The property was absolutely lovely, it had everything you could possibly want, very well equipped, and lots of little extras, eg, salt, pepper, oil, excellent array of cooking utensils and crockery.

It was very cosy and lovely and warm on an evening after a hard days walking in the countryside. We had a brilliant time, so peaceful and stunning countryside. Thank you.

We spent a weekend at Ysgubur Hir and had a wonderful time.

The cottage is surrounded by fields, there is ample parking and it's incredibly easy to find. There is a local and shop and pubs within easy reach. The bird in the hand was particularly good and has a courtesy bus should you want to make an evening of it! Inside the cottage was beautiful. A large farmhouse kitchen with ample crockery and utensils. Dawn had left a welcome hamper which was a nice treat. The lounge was also spacious with plenty of sofa space, a mock word burner, overhead beams, loads of windows front and back letting in loads of light. There was a attic twin bedroom and two downstairs bedrooms, one double the other king-size. Three bathrooms, one with a bath. There is one step down to the bedrooms for those with mobility issues to be mindful of. I highly recommend this place.

We had a great break at this wonderful cottage.

Dawn was the perfect hostess and made us feel very welcome and the welcome basket was a lovely surprise after a long drive. The cottage itself is clean, spacious, comfortable and has everything we could ask for. Even when the weather turned particularly stormy forcing us to stay in, there was plenty to keep us busy and entertained. The location is another big bonus, quiet and immersed in nature but easy to reach, close to the M4 and from there a quick drive to plenty of interesting places. We'd recommend the Botanical Gardens of Wales, Penllergaer Forest Valley , Worms Head (Rhossili) on the Gower, and the Royal Mint as places worth a visit. For food, a standout was Pen Y Waun Farmshop, literally 2 minutes up the road: Gavin's dedication came across and both the meat and the jam were superb. We had a wonderful time and are already looking forward to an opportunity to come back to this gem of a cottage.

Lovely, cozy, well equipped cottage in a beautiful location.

Really lovely property.

We had a great week. We hope to stay again in the near future.

A most comfortable and homely property.

The added xmas decorations were lovely and a wonderful surprise. Also the hamper which was left. Muchn appreciated. Web will be back

A lovely cottage much larger than looks in photos.

Lovely and warm with comfy furniture. Dawn was very helpful and welcoming and left a lovely welcome package for us all. Everything you could wish for. Highly recommend.

We can thoroughly recommend Ysgubor Hir, very warm welcome from Dawn the owner, very clean and well maintained, comfortable and warm throughout, good quality furniture and furnishings, everything you could need in the kitchen for cooking a meal, nothing had been missed.

The welcome basket with milk in the fridge were very well received after our journey and even fresh flowers to welcome us. Thank you Dawn for a lovely stay we hope to visit again as there is so much to see in the area.

Very pleasant, accommodating and welcoming owner.

Excellent provision of facilities in kitchen and comfortable and spacious throughout.

Fantastic cottage in a lovely, quiet location.

Is probably one of the best equipped cottages we have stayed in which made it feel like a home from home. The owner is incredibly friendly and helpful and left us a lovely basket of goodies to enjoy that was very much appreciated. We hope to return one day!

Had a fantastic stay.

Cottage is exceptionally comfortable, homely and stunning surroundings. Owner Dawn was really lovely and left a thoughtful welcome basket full of Welsh treats, fresh flowers were a lovely touch. Nice restaurants locally and everyone was really friendly. Would highly recommend Ysgubor Hir and can't wait to go back.

Great 'cottage'.

Comfortable and well equipped. Friendly and helpful owner. Lots of beautiful countryside and places o visit within easy reach.

A wonderful converted barn, everything you could possibly need for a holiday break.

Can't praise this property highly enough, everything you could possibly ask for and more. Beautiful area and owners very friendly and helpful, we will be back.

Friendly and welcoming hosts.

We found the accommodation comfortable, spacious, characterful and homely. Very well equipped kitchen, excellent quality furniture and furnishings. Comfortable patio furniture provided. Beautiful countryside around, peaceful surroundings but not far from the nearest towns. We thoroughly recommend Ysgubor Hir- we couldn't have found a better place. Thank you Dawn & Brian for an enjoyable stay.

very enjoyable stay.

We stayed here for my husband’s 30th birthday - the place was so homely with such serene views.

Everything was provided for; from all cooking equipment down to bath bombs in the main bathroom. We unfortunately had some car trouble throughout the duration of the stay and had to leave our car in the garage to get repaired. Dawn was so kind enough to go out her way to help us find a garage whilst also allowing us to remain in the cottage past the check-out time until the car had been fixed. We are grateful to them for being so understanding and kind and I would recommend this place to anyone. What a lovely bank holiday weekend we had!

Great holiday home in a nice quiet location.

We really appreciated the well-equipped kitchen and spacious, well-furnished rooms.

Very tastefully converted barn, lovely kitchen and living room.

Great location for many different activities for family with young kids. All attractions are within 1h drive which is brilliant. We`d definitely come back again, I can recommend this barn 100%.

A wonderful retreat tucked away in a quiet setting .

..perfect for recharging the batteries in such a relaxing environment and well placed for visiting many places of interest

A really lovely cottage, with very high spec on all facilities and equipment, nice location and very easy to get to.

Would certainly recommend as place to stay

The stable conversion was a lovely place to stay, the under floor heating was brilliant for my elderly mother and also having bedrooms and bathrooms downstairs.

The kitchen was brilliant, large, and with loads of equipment. The accommodation is situated in a rural area but close enough to visit Pontarddulais also Gower coast. There is a pub about 1 mile away, the food was excellent. Would have liked to sat on patio but with it being February there was no chance, but I can imagine in the summer it would be beautiful. I loved the space and the comfort. Will definitely be coming back. Dawn the owner is very accommodating and friendly, providing a nice welcome basket for us.

A lovely cottage, beautifully furnished, clean and well supplied with little extras to make for a comfortable stay .

Very well organised and maintained and a very helpful owner. Beds were extremely comfortable and a good shower unit. Just a bit remote for me, but I realise some people would value that.

This property is a hidden gem!

A perfect location, hidden away but close enough to be able to visit plenty of sights within the area. The property was huge with ample parking space and plenty of room to accommodate 5 in comfort. The facilities were well appointed, with a well-stocked range of kitchen implements and utensils, the washing machine was very welcome, and the underfloor heating kept us toasty warm. The welcome from the owner was warm, with a nice welcome pack. Bedding and linen was clean, comfortable - special mention to the lovely sheets used throughout. I can thoroughly recommend Ysgubor Hir to anyone visiting the area and wishing to either relax away from it all, or to use the property as a base with which to explore further. The only thing I would have liked to have seen added would be a hot tub, although I appreciate that isn’t for everyone, and please don’t let a lack of one make you miss out on what is essentially a fabulous property in a great location.

Really great welcome from Dawn.

The accommodation was excellent and had everything we needed.

Can only reiterate what others have said.

Beautifully appointed barn, with home comforts, warm, comfy, cozy, spacious, and clean with every utensil in the kitchen you could need, very well stocked. Beautiful location, quiet. We did a few nice days out to Gower and Laugharne. Dawn our host was lovely and welcoming.

amazing cottage a real home from home.

. 100% going back in few weeks . x

Ysgubor Hir is spacious, well-equipped and comfortable - perfect for a relaxing holiday for our family group of five adults.

We found lots of places to visit in the Swansea and Llanelli areas.

We have just had a great week in this fabulous cottage.

Great amenities, beautifully clean. Very well located to explore the surrounding area. Dawn, the owner, left us a well equipped welcome box and was at the end of the phone if we needed her, luckily we didn't as everything was perfect. Would highly recommend.

Comfortable, well presented cottage.

Excellent facilities and very clean. Lovely and peaceful. Dawn very friendly but not in an excessive way. Thank you Dawn for a lovely stay.

Lovely location and a really great cottage

Beautiful, well equipped, quiet cottage that we would definitely recommend to friends and family.

We will return without a doubt.

Ysgubor hir is a very lovely property in a great and quite location.

The property was very clean and welcoming and very well equipped. Dawn and Brian the owners are very friendly and have thought of everything. I would highly recommend a stay at this property.

A hidden gem!

Beautiful property in a beautiful location with all the amenities you need. Would happily return. Thank you.

Lovely property, very comfortable, delightful owners, lots to do in the area, would thoroughly recommend.

We had a warm cosy stay at Ysgbor Hir barn in February.

We were delighted with the property from the moment we opened the door! The underfloor heating was amazing! The bed was very comfortable! And the barn had everything needed to make our stay enjoyable! Dawn the owner was very welcoming and left a thoughtful welcome box! The barn is in a great location for visiting the local towns and coast.

Fantastic hosts and an amazing property to stay in.

The place is so comfy, warm and cosy we all really felt at home. Dawn was very welcoming and very helpful with questions and was very attentive during our stay and paid a keen interest in us as a family/group and our children. The facilities are fantastic, we really could not fault our stay. Thank You! Thanks ever so much, we look forward to staying with you in the future.

I can't count how many times I've stayed at Ysgubor Hir.

But I can honestly say as long as its available I wouldn't stay anywhere else. The owners Dawn and Brian are absolutely amazing and like my extended Welsh family. The property has amazing views always clean with everything you could possibly wish or hope for. I would definitely recommend and will always give it a 5 star rating. Close enough to the M4 which takes you to a wide range of other amazing adventures in Wales but still far enough to feel like your in the middle of the countryside. I could write so much about Ysgubor Hir... so go check it out for yourselves you certainly won't be disappointed.

This was our fifth vist to this lovely cosy cottage and we enjoyed it just like the first time .

The Host is so helpful and friendly and left a lovely food hamper for us and put beautiful Christmas decorations up for us. Would highly recommended this cottage.

Dawn was a very friendly and helpful host, and we really appreciated her accommodating us at short notice.

The converted barn has been sumptuously furnished and decorated, and is a warm, comfortable and peaceful place to stay.

Great stay in warm, well equipped cottage.

Hosts were friendly and quick to arrive when we couldn't get the heating to work. Good location for exploring Swansea and further afield. Welcome pack a nice touch.

We had an amazing time staying at this beautiful accommodation.

Set in picturesque surroundings and situated so that everything was easy to drive to. The house had everything that you would want/need. The owners are only a short drive away and are on hand if needed. We arrived to a very thoughtful welcome basket which was greatly appreciated. There were no negatives to this accommodation and we wouldn’t hesitate to stay again.

Great home, friendly host and lovely area.

Our second visit. Again, we thoroughly enjoyed our comfy and well equipped holiday in Ysgubor Hir. The 'little extras' from the host Dawn was nice. The weather was warm so we were able to sit in the garden and watch the cows. The property is very convenient for the M4 and a good location for exploring the coast, countryside and gardens. A great week, thank you. Sally October 2021

We have taken self catering holiday for over 40 years and Ysgubor Hir is one of the best.

It is very spacious, very clean and well equiped. The hosts were very welcoming and helpful. We would certainly recommend this property to others who wish to visit this part of Wales.

Spacious property both inside and out, surrounded by lovely countryside.

Great as a base to explore the lovely Gower beaches, Brecon Beacons and a little further afield,Tenby. The basket of treats Dawn left was a welcome surprise. We thoroughly enjoyed our holiday, would hope to stay in the future and would certainly highly recommend.

The cottage was amazing, very spacious and really well equipped.

Dawn was the perfect host and gave us lots of great information about the local area. We could not have asked for anything more in the cottage. It was really well located for so many activities and sites locally. There is also plentiful car parking for several cars. We were not overlooked and it was a really quiet special place to visit. We will be back.

Very comfortable spacious accommodation.

KIds really appreciated the level grassy area for games of football. We found this a great base for exploring the surrounding area (Botanic Garden of Wales not far away), but also convenient for trips into Swansea and the Gower Beaches (40 minutes to Oxwich Bay) Thoroughly enjoyed our visit and would hope to stay again some time.

A lovely property in an ideal location.

Everything in the cottage was as we expected and the basket of treats totally unexpected. Dawn was very helpful with local information. We would highly recommend.

Lovely accommodation which overlooks green fields

Very comfortable accommodation with lots of space.

Great location for exploring beaches and mountains.

Plenty of room, quiet, good facilities, as clean as you could get.

Will go again

What a great place to stay.

We rented to place to do a road trip. So much room to park the cars and the whole place is quite secluded. Great location to get to anywhere in South Wales. The house is very large and could accommodate quite a few people. The house is well equipped inside and out. The owner was very friendly and hospitable. All in all a great place to set up a base for your Wales adventures and if you're a petrol head then it's close to the Black Mountain Pass. It's a short drive to the Mumbles and Gower and the local distillery tour is a must. There is also caves and waterfalls a pleasant drive away.

Excellent accommodation, situated in open countryside, within easy access of local attractions.

The property owner was very friendly and helpful and would recommend the property and Sykes to everyone.

Over the years we have used a good few cottages from Sykes and another company - and this one has to be one of the very best.

There is loads of space and every possible little touch has been thought of - it really was like walking into a home from home. Dawn, the owner, made us very welcome and popped by midweek (socially distanced!) to check everything was OK. We really couldn't fault it in any way. It's also very convenient for the M4 and getting to other places in south Wales while being very quiet in the property itself.

Nice cottage - very well equipped (more so than anywhere else we’ve stayed), but in need of some updating and thorough cleaning.

The kitchen set up is not ideal for cleanliness as all pots and pans etc are out on display rather than in cupboards - everything we needed to use had to be pre-washed as was covered in grimey dust. I think the beds had been made a while ago and the property vacant for a while as they seemed a bit dusty too, which wasn’t great. Also worth noting that the upstairs bedroom is gallery style (has no door on it), which really should have been stated in the listing - important to know if you’re traveling with another family. Great little stream outside and country views all around which was lovely - as was the food gift basket. Utility room with washing mashing and clothes dryer was very useful too as we got very wet and muddy on walks. Just needs a bit of decluttering and thorough cleaning.

Very comfortable and relaxing place to stay and a good location from which to explore both coast and countryside

Lovely barn conversion, large and very well equipped.

Excellent under floor heating felt very homely for a winter visit. Location very convenient for exploring the Brecon Beacons or coast, located down a short tarmac drive off a quiet secondary road only 20 minutes from M4 yet feels very rural. Car essential.

Everything that people have previously mentioned on reviews was totally accurate.

Welcome basket, flowers, tea, coffee, milk essentials all provided. The cottage was homely and warm for our arrival( the underfloor heating was delightful) and it was great to meet Dawn personally. We had a fantastic get-together at Ysgubor Hir and loved waking up to views of green fields and sheep in the morning. We are considering another stay before too long. Cafon ni amser arbennig yn eich bwthyn-diolch!

I visit Ysgubor Hir a few times a year and it never fails to amaze me.

The cottage is just

Ysgubor Hir is a lovely spacious holiday cottage, with so many "little extras" which made our stay there so enjoyable.

It is conveniently located near to main roads to enable access to all that South Wales has to offer. Thoroughly recommended.

This property was very spacious and luxurious.

The beds and settees were very comfortable and there was quality furniture everywhere. The owners had put a lot of thought into making this accommodation comfortable and practical for their guests. There was hooks on the bedroom and bathroom doors, towels,, tissues , kitchen roll, toilet rolls and soap for guests to use which was so helpful. I found the utility room where the boiler was a very useful area to dry wet coats and clothes, and there was an airier for guests to use. There was also a washing machine and dishwasher in the kitchen although I didn’t use these. The kitchen was lovely with a large oak dining table and chairs and several cupboards with plenty of crockery and everything you need in a kitchen and also an island giving you more preparation room. This property would be ideal for families with children as there were two beds upstairs in the attic conversion which would be an exciting area for youngsters to sleep, and outside there was a grass area fenced an ideal play area and also a tarmac area where we parked the car where children could also play. The bedrooms were nicely furnished , one had a bathroom next door , and one had a shower en-suite and there was another shower and toilet next to the utility room. There was also a book shelf full of books and dvds and games and puzzles for guests to use. This property was easy to get to as it was near the motorway and not far from several beaches and interesting areas to visit. I would recommend this property as a lovely place to stay. Happy holidays to everyone.

A beautiful, well equipped barn conversion within easy access of many scenic and historic places.

We met the owner, Dawn, on the first evening and she made us feel very welcome (as well as the welcome pack on arrival) and shared ideas of where to go/what to do. We knew that she was always available if needed. We had a lovely family holiday!

A superb barn conversion done to high standard lovely rural location very peaceful wonderful location to relax and unwind we had wonderful time here

This is a superb base for a holiday, well located near the M4 for driving to places in any direction and yet in a countryside location.

The property itself is superb: immaculately clean, well furnished, quiet and comfortable. The outside seating area is sheltered and a delight to be in. The owners could not be better, leaving us to enjoy the property and yet on hand for any queries. When we were delayed in a traffic jam arriving they even kindly took out food order in and put it all away perfectly! The welcome basket was generous and a nice touch.

This is an excellent cottage very well equipped and comfortable - the owners are also extremely helpful.

It deserves a better grading than it has been given!

This was our fourth visit here and we always enjoy the cottage's well equipped charm and comfort.

The setting is peaceful and the welcome is always warm. It's a good place to come back to at the end of a day enjoying the many local places of interest. Diolch yn fawr!

The cottage was excellent, it had everything we could have needed for a week's stay.

The large spacious rooms were ideal for us with 2 small children as it meant they had plenty of space to play etc... Also the selection if garden toys was a lovely touch. We were very impressed and would definitely stay again.

A really nice cottage, very clean and lots of kitchen bits which always helps.

The description of this property does not do it justice.

The conversion has been done to give a very spacious and well set out layout .The owners Brian and Dawn made us feel very welcome with a visit on the first evening to make sure we had everything we needed and a farewell visit on the final morning. They could not be more friendly and helpful. We will definitely be returning to this countryside property as the week flew by and we still have more to see.Thank you .

Lovely home, lovely host and lovely area.

We had a great long weekend here, only a shame that we couldn't spend the week!

A lovely, well appointed and welcoming property in a beautiful location.

the accomadation was the best holiday cottage we have ever stayed in ,and the very friendly owners provided a very extensive welcome pack which was much appreciated .

we would have no hesitation in staying there again.

We stayed at Ysgubor Hir, Llanedi (24-31 August) and thoroughly enjoyed our week.

The property was spotless, warm and cosy and beautiful! Dawn, the owner, was friendly and introduced herself straight away. Nothing was too much trouble and she even left milk and and goodies for when we arrived. A real home from home. Thank you for a lovely stay.

On arrival following a long journey Dawn the owner made us very welcome with fresh flowers , Fresh Fruit and briefing on the venue facilities.

Giving a mobile contact number was also very helpful. This is our second stay at the converted barn, we again found it to be outstanding in quality and ideally situated for accessing the local attractions. The personal touch by the owner makes all the difference including a visit on the last day with an honest request for genuine feedback, others should follow this example . Ann, Carol & Ivan Palmer

We enjoyed the spacious cottage which had everything we needed.

.. and even more. Lovely setting, warm interior (and warm welcome), fully equipped with good quality stuff.

We very much enjoyed our week in this lovely comfortable cottage.

It is set in a beautiful and extremely quiet location and easily located just off the motorway, but only a short drive to the coastal areas of Llaneli, Burry Port and the Gower. The cottage was lovely and spacious and the facilities were excellent. The welcome basket was a lovely touch and much appreciated. The weather was far warmer than we had expected and so we were able to sit outside in the garden and enjoy a drink. I would definitely recommend this cottage.

What a beautiful cottage.

There were six adults and one toddler staying in the cottage which still gave us plenty of room. Everything was clean and the facilities were excellent. The owner was so helpful and nothing was too much trouble. We will definitely be renting this cottage again. I can’t recommend it enough.

Ysgubor Hir is one of the best holiday cottages I've stayed in.

This was my 3rd visit and am planning another stay. The owner are great nothing is too much trouble always on hand if you need them. It's warm and comfortable clean with plenty of room. This property is also very easy to find just off of the M4. It truly is home from home. I love going and hate leaving. 5 star accommodation. Be seeing you again very soon.

Second time we have booked this cottage.

Very clean and tidy and hosts are very handy if needed. Nicely situated for exploring the countryside and cities nearby. Well worth the money and possibly may book again sometime later.

Extremely comfortable and well appointed holiday home.

The owners were very helpful and friendly.

My family have just returned from a wonderful week away at this property over the Christmas period.

The barn was lovely, as was the reception received from Dawn and Brian upon arrival. The property had been decorated for Christmas beautifully which we all appreciated. It was lovely and warm, very spacious and we instantly felt welcome and at home. The location is great for getting out and exploring the surrounding area as it is so close to the end of the M4, yet surrounded by fields and countryside. The barn was fully equipped with anything that we needed during our stay and I cannot recommend it highly enough. Thank you so much Dawn and Brian for those extra touches that made all the difference. We are already looking forward to our next visit.

Amazing barn conversion to the highest spec beautiful in every aspect spacious warm and comfortable.

Would advise anyone who just wants to get away from it all to head here. Also easily accessible not far off the m4 motorway. Superb!!

A beautiful place to relax after the packed itinerary we had earlier in our holiday.

So many great things to see in Wales.

Everything was beautiful never been in such a fully equipped holiday accommodation Owners we're lovely Overall completely satisfied Looking forward to what you find for us next year

Fabulous cottage in every way

Absolutely lovely place and very friendly owner ,This was are second visit and sure we will go back again .

The best Holiday home we ever rent!

Home from home.

Everything provided - condiments, foil and kitchen towel, toilet rolls... Thank you Dawn.

A fantastic barn conversion, fitted out to make our holiday like a stay in a home, not a rental!

Everything was top class, with plenty of room, inside and out, comfortable beds and living area, coupled with an outstanding kitchen/dining area. Owners are very nice and welcomed us with a lovely basket of 'goodies'

The property and the location was superb.

Many thanks

This is one of the best holiday places we have ever stayed in within the UK.

Ideal location for exploring South Wales. We were made most welcome and enjoyed a real home from home. The property was spacious, well-planned and equipped. Very quiet yet not far from other properties. Would highly recommend.

A week's utter bliss in the most perfect holiday cottage we have ever had the pleasure of staying in.

From the warm welcome by Dawn, the basket of complimentary biscuits and other goodies, to the immaculate cleanliness of the cottage and its contents and the amazing wealth of anything and everything - where else would you find a pint of milk waiting for you in the fridge to a bottle of vinegar, cooking oil and dishwasher tablets? The cottage is surrounded by fields, with eight cows at the bottom of the biggest drive I have ever seen - we even had our own roundabout! It's beautiful. The fact that we had glorious weather in Wales (yes really) just made it even better. Go and love it - you will NOT be disappointed!

Super building.

The owner was incredibly helpful and gave us a really warm welcome. Lovely week.
