“TV wouldn’t work when we arrived on the Saturday.”

Phone Sykes support on Sunday who advised someone would visit on Monday to look at it. My husband spent a long time on Sunday night sorting the issue out. Electric hob had no instructions on how to use it. It was a touch button hob and required guidance on what symbols meant and how to trouble shoot issues. Gave up with it in the end! Dishwasher had no rinse aid or salt!

A former Smithy now offering a group of four an exceptional base from which to explore the coast and countryside of West Wales, Glyn Yr Efail can be found sitting within the village of Moylegrove near Cardigan.

All-ground-floor accommodation with an eclectic combination of traditional features and contemporary charm, this property promises to be a memorable holiday base all-year-round.

Park up right outside the property before entering the back door to be welcomed in by the hallway where you can kick off your boots before moving in to the glorious open-plan living space; marvel at its high vaulted ceilings, exposed stone wall and original wooden shutters bringing character to the room, all while the rustic wood burning stove fills the room with a welcoming warmth.

Gather together around the dining table where you can enjoy all your home-cooked meals when you're not making the most of the wonderful restaurants in Cardigan, with the kitchen providing all you could need for a self-catered stay.

End your evenings perched in the plush seating arrangement, or carry your conversations out to the decking, while your canine companions make the most of the luscious lawn space.

Follow the hallway back around, passing the convenient utility, home to a washer/dryer, and discover the beautiful bathroom where you can choose between a relaxing soak or a rejuvenating shower to freshen up before retiring beneath the covers of either the master double or the twin bedroom, each as homely as the other.

Start the day with a stroll around the woodlands, listening out for any birdlife, before venturing out along the Pembrokeshire coastline for even more scenic walking routes with a difference.

Make your way to the nearby market town of Cardigan to find all your essentials of shops, pubs, tearooms and restaurants catering to all of your cuisine requirements, as well as the marvel of the ruined castle, which is well worth seeing, with its Regency house and grounds, beautifully kept gardens and river views to admire, as well as its restaurant, 1176, where you can indulge in fine dining.

There are plenty of ways to get up close to nature on a holiday here too, whether at the Cardigan Island Coastal Farm Park with its farm animals, or The Welsh Wildlife Centre & Teifi Marsh with plenty of activity to keep the little ones entertained including a willow maze, play area and with water buffalo and a giant willow badger to meet too.

Or take to the waters on a boat trip to spot dolphins and seals; there's so much to be seen here.

Enjoy a more relaxing day on the coast on one of the many Blue Flag beaches, the National Trust beach of Mwnt being a marvel well worth venturing too, or embark on a memorable adventure in the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park, with walking, rambling, cycling, horse riding, watersports and so much more.

Surrounded by splendour at any time of the year, Glyn Yr Efail is a truly exceptional base from which to explore West Wales.
