Looked clean and nicely presented. it is as it says in the ad. The cottage is well placed for local Spar, pubs and wine bars and 10 min walk to estuary and Parrog, whilst Newport Sands is a 35 min walk (with dog) with a welcome coffee bar at end of walk. Downstairs remains cool on hot days so is a nice place to chill. From the main bedroom you can just see the sea between the houses but still benefit from the lovely red sunsets. Also, thank you, owners, for the welcome pack of bread, butter, cakes and biscuits, but make sure your instruction/welcome folder is on table too. Outside the patio area is delightful with cottage-style wild planted borders. Great for the cooling down evening drinks. However, a few of disappointments. When unpacking food into fridge/freezer we found the the freezer door was slightly ajar and the inside completely frosted over. We did what we could to resolve but found that the freezer door does not shut properly so be aware to make certain it is shut (however, it still freezes over anyway). The crockery and cutlery all needed to be cleaned before use, along with the drawers and cutlery tray. Not the owners fault but probably a build up of less than diligent clients before. We left it all cleaner than we found it. Oh, and for those leaving each week. Don’t forget to empty the Dyson vacuum cleaner when it is full. Helpful things: Local amenities: mentioned above - all pubs are dog friendly except Royal Oak. We would recommend both the Castle Inn and Golden Lion for after walk lunches and outdoor areas for evening meals. Recycling: Glass bottles/jars. Nothing at cottage. Walk to Long Street at end of your stay to dispose. Dog stuff: if your dog(s) are not business-like on patio setting there is a walk up the lane . Please pick up your dog’s mess. Quite a few people don’t, as evidenced, so set an example, be responsible!! Also, the back gate has a large gap underneath it which both small and medium size dogs will get under. We used one of our body-boards across the gap to ensure a commando crawl was not deployed. Overall, we loved the cottage and setting. We hope you do to. Thank you.
