“A beautiful, comfortable setting and a lovely welcome basket.”

Thank you. The owner had tried to make us feel welcome. However, I told Sykes on the first morning, that the en suite was dirty with weeks of dirt ingrained as black gunk in the shower hose, shower head and fan. Mould on grouting and seals and dirt in the door hinges etc.I am sorry to have to say this but a good deep clean of this area is necessary. It was not home from home in this area and I hope my observations help rather than cause upset. It is without prejudice to help the owner who may be unaware if they use a cleaning team?? The Tap was very stiff too. Everywhere else was comfortable and we really enjoyed our stay at Y Cartws. It is difficult to raise such a complaint on site! Awkward and embarrassing.

We apologise that the shower area was below our normal high standards and we weren’t made aware of this issue during your stay which is a huge disappointment as we could have rectified it straight away if you had told us when we spoke. We live on site and always encourage guests to speak to us if there are any issues at all as anything can be dealt with immediately. It’s a shame you didn’t just speak to us as we are quite friendly. “The property is well positioned to explore the area although you need to be a confident driver to access as the roads are very narrow.”

Fantastic views and loved watching the swallows and kites. The garden is large and completely secure for dogs. Great comfy bed and well equipped kitchen but we would suggest putting all the recycling bins outside as there is plenty of room to do so. The weather was excellent but it was a shame there were no sun loungers like in the picture. Overall we had a relaxing stay.

Drying room a real bonus as sadly weather was not kind to us. Everything was available to make our stay a pleasant one. 2 bathrooms so handy as the enclosed garden for the dogs. The cottage is quite remote so very peaceful. The owners are on hand though if needed. Plenty of room for two of us and our two dogs with a large, enclosed garden and had the weather been better we’d have sat out on in the garden more. The bed was very comfy and a good power shower, plenty of kitchen equipment and a welcome basket provided, Lots of beaches nearby which are dog friendly and plenty of cafes for coffee and cake. All in all a lovely week away.

Just what you need for a stressless break. Clean and comfortable. Lovely garden for our dog. Not far to beaches and small towns. We have an old dog so she found it hard on the wooden floors and a few mats would have made it easier for her. But on the whole would love to go again .

Warm cosy and comfortable. It is very well equipped. The welcome box of goodies was much appreciated. The location is fantastic, very quiet but only ten minutes drive to Newport Sands. A great place to relax. The dogs loved the large enclosed garden. I would highly recommend staying here and would happily go back for a third stay.

“We very much enjoyed our stay at Y Cartws, we haven’t stayed in a cottage with our dog and eleven year old before but we were looking for somewhere peaceful and Y Cartws did fit the bill.”

We were only really aware we had neighbours when we saw their van. We had a couple of wet days away and I think the sign of a good holiday location is being able to sit comfortably in your accommodation without climbing the walls. Again boxes ticked! The area itself was lovely, plenty of dog friendly places nearby. You do need to be prepared to drive, and some of the roads were single tracks and very hilly which we were not used to. We would definitely return. Thank you for having us!

“Just back from a lovely stay in Y Cartws in Pembrokshire.”

Y Cartws is a lovely little property that surprises you when to go in. Its a lot bigger than first thought and pleasingly so. The place was spotless and a credit to the owners. Everything was there that we needed, I cannot even put a suggestion in for improvement. The garden was ideal for our dog and it was well teased by the resident moggies. The location was ideal too. A great base to explore Pembrokeshire. Everywhere was really dog friendly. Bar Tenby. Most beaches allow dogs or have a section dogs can go between 1 May and 31st Sept ( Newport North is great with a nice cafe) Poppit Beach near Cardigan is another gorgeous beach and if you want to venture more. Marloes sands and Whites sands bay are beautiful. Lots of walking done. Happy people and a happy pooch at the end of the week. We neve really saw you but ... Thank you Nester, Andrew and Anona

It was beautiful, airy and clean and wow what a view. It was well equipped, we didn't need half of what we brought with because it was all there. Our child and dog enjoyed the enclosed garden. I for one really appreciated the comfortable bed and crisp linen.

The location was great, close to beaches and super walks. The views from the property are amazing. The cottage is large, warm, cosy and very well equipped. The welcome pack was much appreciated. Milk and cake upon arrival were very nice. Owners were extremely hospitable and we were made to feel very welcome. Although the other cottages were also occupied there was plenty of privacy and you didn't really see anyone else. Each cottage had a private area to sit out and dogs were welcome. Would go back again.

It is in a peaceful location and the cottage offers everything you need for a relaxing and comfortable holiday. We thought the cottage was very well equipped and thought through, the location of the cottage is a perfect base for exploring and the local coastline is stunning. The owners had left everything you needed for a hot drink on arrival, including milk and some lovely homemade cakes, which we thought was a lovely touch. We went home, relaxed, recharged and happy after a wonderful holiday and would not hesitate to recommend Y Cartws! Thank you so much!

Newport is a beautiful coastal town in Pembrokeshire, south west Wales lying on the River Nevern with a selection of shops, pubs, tea rooms, plus an excellent golf course overlooking the sea as well as a lovely sheltered harbour. Newport lies on the Pembrokeshire Coast Path which is renowned worldwide for its unique landscape and wonderful opportunities to go dolphin and seal spotting.
