Ever fancied staying in a house that’s practically a national treasure?
Well, Lush House is the actual house of Doris from Gavin and Stacey!
The property featured throughout the original series and in both the 2019 Christmas Special and the 2024 series finale.
Located on Trinity Street in Barry, South Wales, this iconic terraced home was not just a filming location—it was given to Gavin and Stacey in the storyline following the death of their neighbour Doris.
The house became their family home, appearing prominently in the final episodes.
This isn’t a replica or a set—it’s the genuine house used throughout the show, making it a true piece of British TV history.
Step inside and you’ll find a bright kitchen fitted with everything you need for your stay, including the all-important hob, where you can rustle up an omelette before heading to the beach.
If Mick pops round you might even feel inspired to whip up a Sunday roast but don’t be surprised if he turns up with a turkey under one arm and a carving knife in the other – he’s got form.
Best not invite Nessa unless you’re ready to just make an omelette with a side of nine nicotine patches.
The living and dining area is comfortably furnished and features an electric fire, TV and WiFi for chilled evenings in after exploring the local sights, and a dining table where you can enjoy a chicken bhuna, lamb bhuna, prawn bhuna, mushroom rice, a bag of chips, keema naan and nine poppadoms.
Try not to forget the salad...
Moving on, upstairs there are two bedrooms, a double and a triple bunk room with a twin below and single above, ideal for families with younger guests.
It’s the perfect setup for Neil the Baby or Gavin & Stacey’s three children as well (Harri, Megan and Caitlin).
A spacious bathroom with both a bath and a walk-in shower completes the setup, while central heating keeps things comfortable no matter the season.
Outside, the enclosed rear garden makes a pleasant spot for your morning cuppa or an evening drink as the sun goes down.
You can host a classic Smithy-style throwaway BBQ but just don’t let Uncle Bryn near the grill unless you want a full safety briefing.
Remember to watch out for Dick Powell down the back alleys with his meats that have fallen off the back of a lorry! Don' forget the steaks- you will need a few extra for 3 steaks Pam.
So pour yourself a pint...
of wine and enjoy yourself in an iconic location.
Step out and you’re within easy reach of Barry Island’s famous promenade, where fish and chips, arcades and classic seaside fun await.
Pop into Marco’s Café for a quick bite, visit Boofy’s chippy, or drop by Nessa’s slots to relive some of the show’s most memorable moments.
You’ll also find the colourful Barry Island Pleasure Park nearby, a firm favourite for families, while nature lovers can take a stroll around Porthkerry Country Park – a vast green haven with woodland walks and views over the Bristol Channel.
For something a little more cultural, head into Barry town centre to explore its independent shops, cafés and the Goodsheds urban market, where local food and craft stalls create a lively community feel.
And of course, Bryn’s house is just across the street perfect if you fancy recreating a few classic moments (maybe not the fishing trip).
With its sandy beach, bustling cafés and unmistakable Welsh charm, Lush House offers a cheerful and convenient home-from-home for anyone looking to soak up the spirit of Barry Island.
