Resting in a rural position in Wales, in the idyllic village of Llantilio Pertholey near to the amenities of a shop and pub in Mardy, Pentre Barn is a remarkable choice for an escape to the countryside.

Offering views over the Skirrid Mountain, Sugar Loaf and plenty more scenic wonders within the Bannau Brycheiniog (Brecon Beacons), this holiday cottage makes a beautiful base for families and friends seeking a countryside adventure.

Enter into the sitting room and step onto the solid oak flooring as you take in the traditional character of the property with its original features running throughout.

Boasting wooden beams, an impressive woodburning stove sitting within the inglenook and a quaint array of furniture, it makes a glorious spot to spend your evenings.

Move through into the equally elegant kitchen/diner, with more exposed beams and slate flooring, this regal setting is perfect for enjoying all your homemade meals, the large electric range cooker sure to help you whip up a feast in no time, with plenty of preparation space on the wooden worktops too.

Take the splendid solid oak staircase up to the first floor to be met by the three beautifully-presented bedrooms benefiting from being served by the family bathroom.

Each room on the first floor retains wooden beams, sloping ceilings and fantastic skylights which let in an abundance of natural light, creating the perfect setting to unwind each evening.

The bedrooms consist of a superb master double bedroom, boasting its own en-suite shower room which even has underfloor heating, as well as a decked balcony with furniture letting you soak in the countryside views, this room is a true wonder to be had.

The further two bedrooms consist of a king-size and a double bed with a sofa bed for added room, offering a lovely sleeping arrangement for the whole group.

Spend your mornings out in the enclosed rear garden where you can also find a barbecue for those alfresco evenings, while the lawned garden to the side makes a lovely spot to play a game of badminton with your loved ones.

The front patio area is shared by the owner and can be used in moderation, making a lovely spot to sit before venturing across the public footpath resting in the owner's field, to discover the beauty of the surrounding area.

The local village of Llantilio Pertholey is a fantastic choice for those seeking a remote base, with nearby Mardy offering all the amenities you could need for a self-catered stay with the addition of a traditional fish and chip shop, while a wider selection can be found within the market town of Abergavenny, known as 'The Gateway to Wales', here you can find the historical wonder of its museum set within a former hunting lodge in the grounds of a ruined Norman fortress, as well as charming regular markets where you can pick up local produce for a special meal at the cottage, and be sure to attend the annual Abergavenny Food Festival for even more sumptuous treats!

There are plenty of walking and cycling routes available within the local area, with a riding school nearby too so you can explore from a different view, as well as a range of watersports, rock climbing, abseiling, bus craft and so much more being available within the national park for the adventure seeker, while a simple stroll in the area is a must just to witness its breathtaking sunsets.

Pentre Barn was a very comfortable and well equipped property set in glorious surrounding close to the town of Abergavenny.

The house offered a lovely "farmhouse experience" with its beamed ceilings, wood burning stove and enormous kitchen table. It was equipped and furnished to a very high standard making it a comfortable base for walking and visiting in the surrounding area. Marion was an attentive host and on hand to help or advise if required. Her two dogs were friendly and welcoming. All in all a great house in a wonderful setting and we would happily return again.

Wow!

What a fabulous place for our holiday! Everything was spotlessly clean and the barn was very well equipped with everything you could need. Marion, the owner, was on hand for any help without being intrusive and was so lovely. She rang with helpful instructions on how to find the property and greeted us on arrival (with her two gorgeous, giddy dogs!) and showed us where everything was in the barn. She was also able to provide helpful info about local places to eat. Beds were comfy and although there is a slight rumble from the traffic on the main road it is such a peaceful setting it is impossible to not have a good night's sleep. Good bathrooms and plenty space throughout to allow our family of 4 adults and 1 infant to spread out. Would highly recommend this barn and will definitely return. Lots to see and do in the local area and further afield. Lovely shopping and cafés in Abergavenny with Blaenavon Heritage Railway about 30 mins away as an excellent day out too. Our grandson loved the huge garden areas for a good run around and Marion had also provided a highchair and travel cot and there are safety gates at the top and bottom of the stairs. She really has thought of everything that makes this beautiful place a perfect home from home.
