The accommodation was a perfect location being just outside the town.

It was a mix of old and new, but comfortable and the two lounges were useful to have quiet time if wanted. It is as stated in the listing so expect comfort not style, but this suited us and we would consider returning.

A much roomier property than we expected with both tv lounges a very good size!

Modern large walk in shower was welcome and both the kitchen and bathroom very well appointed. The drive is very long and would fit 5-6 cars! The back garden is like a football pitch. Overall, the property was very clean and provided an easy stay from first opening the door! We will come back next year! Thank you!

Although the decor is somewhat dated with many original features retained, the bungalow is comfortable and well equipped.

It’s in a good position in Haverfordwest and ideal for exploring that area of Pembrokeshire. Having a dog, the large garden was a bonus. The owner quickly resolved a tiny issue with the WiFi. I would be happy to use it again.

Whilst the cottage and garden were ideal for what we wanted, the information from book provided gave a contact number if we had any questions or issues.

On the Saturday we messaged the number with a query but no response, then on the Tuesday/ Wednesday we sent another message with some issues, again no response. On arriving home on the Friday I sent another message and received a blunt reply bordering on rude. So basically customer care is not a priority for the owners! We would not book this cottage again!

We enjoyed our stay very much the area is beautiful we only had one problem back garden great for our larger dog but not secure for our small Jack Russell as two places where she could go visit the neighbours bungalow was very comfortable and well equipped thank you

Far and away the best feature of this property is the huge enclosed garden which our dogs enjoyed enormously.

The outside seating was also very welcome as we had terrific weather during our stay. The property was also clean and the beds very comfortable. However, the property itself is a bit of an enigma; parts are stuck in the 50s and other bits show some attempt at modernisation. I felt some work is needed to bring it up to a good standard. Either go with a whole vintage theme or completely refurbish the property to bring it into the 21st century. Supposedly suitable for 5 guests ( 3 quite spacious bedrooms) the one bathroom would be difficult for 5 people to share. Similarly the small kitchen with tiny fridge freezer in the tiny pantry would not be adequate for 5 people. Also a dishwasher would be welcome as hand washing dishes for 5 people is not conducive to a relaxing holiday. The second sitting room is wasted, indeed the whole layout could be vastly improved to make use of the floor space and make it really suitable for 5 people. The main bedroom is huge and could easily accommodate an en suite bathroom. The access from lounge to garden via the large patio doors is very difficult to negotiate, especially for anyone with limited mobility. Again, with a little forethought, this could easily be overcome. The TV in the main lounge is excellent however, it offers streaming services only and there is no information on how to access the channels. We had to access via our personal accounts and remember to sign out before we left. Surely there should be a White Thorns account that is easily accessible for guests? Also the wi fi was quite unstable, often buffering or dropping out completely. Finally, the 'Welcome' email we received from the owner read more like instructions for joining a military camp! Lots of 'do's and dont's' most of which were either in bold type, capital letters or underlined. Not so much a welcome, more a list of rules. And very finally! Perhaps we've been spoilt with other cottages we've been to (and there have been many over the years) but it's customary, or at least a nice gesture, to have some kind of a 'Welcome Pack' on arrival. Often something simple like a pint of milk/packet of biscuits or more warmly a bottle of wine or a cake. There was nothing welcoming at White Thorns, unless you count the three teabags left in the tea caddy. Such a shame overall as the location is lovely and we enjoyed the area very much.

Fantastic size and perfect layout, with a great big garden and would state from the start of this review that I would recommend however some things for constructive criticism.

  Two main things firstly  Although we were told prior to our stay that one of the mattresses was broken we couldn't tell which one as all the singles were equally uncomfortable and we had to buy a mattress topper on the second day so our son could actually get to sleep The rear lounge that leads straight from the garden being carpeted was a real inconvenience, being pet friendly and in Winter meaning wet, muddy foot prints got instantly trailed through on the carpet, luckily I noticed immediately and put down all my spares towels and blankets I had brought from home other wise the carpet would have been ruined. Maybe consider this being hard floored.  Although the decor is old and outdated that didn't really bother me and offers somewhat charm however a more homely feel would have really lifted the place with some plants, ornaments, curtains, blankets and finishing touches.  We were made aware no welcome pack due to supplier issues which was a bit disappointing as I'm sure a basic pack could have been made up from the local shops.  As in the description the drive is steep but the road is quiet enough to be able to access easily from either way and didn't cause us any problems.  A major one that maybe I should have raised at the time but didn't as nothing that could have been done, However one of the days the window cleaners turned up and went through the back gate leaving it open luckily I noticed before my dog did as the patio door was also open . Although he is friendly and knows his boundaries, they might want to make sure they check before entering a garden of a dog friendly cottage as other dogs might not be so welcoming.  All in all like said at that start it's a lovely place and would recommend however with a bit of care and adapting it could be a 5 star place without a doubt.

Very large bungalow nice garden but the shower was unsafe no handles maybe anti slip mats maybe a good idea TVs were small smoke alarm went off but could not stop it because it was in the top of cupboard it felt very cold it felt just like someone had died and the property had been emptied of pictures we have stayed in other cottages in the area over the years this property could be a great place but needs to be made safe warm and welcome.

I loved my stay at whitethorn.

It's a great location: town within walking distance, all the big supermarkets nearby and central to all the attractions that Pembrokeshire has to offer. I was looking for peaceful getaway, that was easy for my aging mum to manage and a secure garden for 2 dogs. Which is exactly what I got here. Please note this bungalow does have a step into the garden and one into the kitchen. The owner did tell me but I did still lose my footing a couple of times which was no fault of anyone but mine own. The house is a little bit of an odd design but the rooms are very spacious. The photos of the garden doesn't do it any justice. Both me and my mum loved the garden. As did the dogs. This is an old bungalow, as is the furniture, it feels like stepping back in time walking in whitethorn, which isn't everyone's cup of tea, in which case this isn't the best choice for those people, however for my family it added to the charm of the place.

Great place to explore the area. Lovely big lawn for the dogs. Only downfall was the driveway. My little campervan didn't like it ,but there were lovely neighbours either side who let us park on their driveway.

the owner is such a nice man, we got in a spot of bother last day but Lewis came too our rescue and i cannot thank him enough. we love this cottage so homely and if he will have us we will be back soon many regards Maggie jeff and pooches

Really nice bungalow nice character and good garden but could do with a makeover inside One thing I was disappointed with was despite previous comments from other guests about stains on the duvet they are still present I don’t think it would cost a lot to replace if unable to remove the stain It would of been nice if some Christmas decorations could of been supplied bearing in mind the cost was almost doubled for that week

Great area & base for visiting places, Lewis was very helpful & thoughtful when we had problems with the WiFi.

What a lovely bungalow and within a good distance of everything we wanted to do.

The rooms were just so cosy and the kitchen was equipped with all we needed. Great shower and the bonus of a washing machine. As soon as our work holiday dates allow, we want to go back as was everything we needed. Thanks also to Kate and the cleaning service, you're marvelous. X

The property was clean comfortable well heated and was a good base for all the facilities of Haverfordwest.

The garden was dog safe and there was a nice patio area to sit out when the weather is fine. Overall the property was a little outdated and tired in places for instance the chairs in the dining room are too small in height for the table but the main rear bedroom and bathroom were fine.

The bungalow and garden were spacious, the bungalow had everything needed for our stay but the smell was of an old property, and would benefit from new furniture.

Cleaning needs improvement and the front garden could do with having a gate on it.

Otherwise it is a spacious property and we had a lovely stay.

Lovely Bungalow, plenty of room in rear lounge for 3 large dog beds.

Great enclosed rear garden where our 3 labradors enjoyed playing and exploring. Location is perfect for access to town and beaches of west wales. We are looking forward to returning. Lewis the owner was always available if needed, by phone or email.

DOG POO WAS FOUND ON THE REAR LAWN.

TEA STAINS WERE FOUND ON THE DUVET. PREVIOUS RUBBISH WAS FOUND IN THE KITCHEN BIN, THE TOILET SEAT WAS LOOSE. BAGS FOR BED LINEN WERE NOT PRESENT ON LEAVING. THE TV SIGNAL WAS LOST ONE EVENING. THERE WAS NO ICE TRAY IN THE FREEZER. THE SHED AND PARASOL WERE DIRTY AND UNTIDY AND COVERED IN COBWEBS. ELECTRIC FIRE IN THE REAR LIVING ROOM TOO NOISY TO USE. THE ONE MILE WALK TO THE SHOPS IS STEEP AND NOT FOR THE ELDERLY WITH MOBILITY ISSUES. INFORMATION ON THE AWKWARD DRIVE/PARKING ISSUE WAS ONLY PROVIDED BY THE OWNER DIRECT AFTER BOOKING..THE CAR WAS SCRAPED UNDERNEATH AT THE FRONT. WE WERE TELEPHONED BY THE OWNERS WHILST DRIVING ON LEAVING WHICH WAS NOT WELCOME AND I REGARD AS A BREACH OF PRIVACY...I SEE NO REASON WHY THE OWNER SHOULD BE GIVEN THE SYKES CUSTOMERS PHONE AND EMAIL. WILL NOT USE SYKES AGAIN.

So glad I chose this property for a weekend break.

The weather was grim but the bungalow was warm and comfortable. It had everything we needed and the rear garden was very much appreciated by our dog.

Lovely bungalow in a great location to explore Pembrokeshire.

Not far from many coastal walks which are stunning. Lost Coins pub is a great place for food and drinks and is a 5 minute drive. The bungalow is a nice size and has a fantastic size garden (that the dog really enjoyed). It was also very clean and tidy. Only one small issue was the internet connection wasn’t great but that’s Vodafone’s issue not the owners. All in all a great place.

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay at White Thorns.

Fabulous house in the perfect location for visiting the surrounding area. Tenby, Cardigan and St Davids all less than an hour from the location. House was clean, very spacious and warm with a huge garden which was fantastic for our dogs. We would definitely stay here again.

Stayed at White Thorns same week last year, very spacious bungalow great enclosed rear garden for children or your dogs, 10 minute walk down to the town with every pub dog friendly, Bristol Trader for good food if you have a dog or plenty of others if not, want a good value breakfast with/without the dog halfway cafe on the road to Pembroke dock don’t be put off with it in a lay-by it’s spotless and the food breakfast/ lunch is amazing Only comments I have about White Thorns 1) I always back in having an estate a lot of car has to be out before you can see what’s coming down hill ( nobody is doing 20) 2) whilst walking down hill to town is ok it’s a trek back uphill, plenty of taxis on rank in town though

White Thorns provided a very comfortable, warm base for our visit to Pembrokeshire to see family.

The accommodation is very large and there is plenty of room. White Thorns is quite dated however this isnt a negative comment, it has a certain charm which made it very welcoming. Beds were super comfortable. Walk in shower was great. Drive up to property is steep . Garden at rear is dog friendly and secure. Kitchen was only area we felt lacking ....the room was a bit pokey oven seemed hit or miss and some of the pans had seen better days. Its a 10 minute walk into Haverfordwest town and plenty of supermarkets localy. White Thorns was also 10 mins to train station. Great road network to popular areas such as St Davids, Tenby and Saundersfoot. The acvomodation was clean and there were ample towels and sheets fresh and crisp. A thoughtfull welcome gift of tea, coffee, milk and biscuits.Internet was a little hit and miss. Would definitely stay here again and would recommend as a comfortable spacious warm base to explore the area.

The bungalow is more than I could of wished for, comfortable, clean and homely. It is also very nice, picturess chocolate box style. Hope we can go again sometime

A lovely large bungalow with a fabulous sized garden, especially good when you have 3 dogs!

Very comfortable. Close to amenities and it was great being within a short drive of the beach.

A delightful property as described.

The garden is huge and very doggy proof. Ideal for our dog Mabel to chase balls up and down. Property is like a Tardis so many rooms and very large. Nice welcome treats on arrival which is always good. Be aware as others have stated the drive at front is steep but doable ( First gear essential, drive on and reverse carefully out ). Beds very comfortable , great sleep all round. Lots of channels on tv freeview and some apps such as BBC I player and others. Bathroom has a great shower and is large. Very well placed for Tenby, St Davids etc all within easy driving.

We had a brilliant stay at Whitethorns I can't fault anything about it.

There was a lovely big garden for our 2 dogs to play in and the size of the bungalow was amazing ( although there was only two of us and our two dogs). It is situated in Pembrokeshire , which as lovely beaches close by, also many interesting places to visit. The owner Lewis is very helpful. On our arrival we was welcomed with some toffee waffles and some very nice coffee. It's definitely a ten out of ten we would highly recommend Whitethorns.

Excellent accommodation and location.

Bungalow was everything described in the info. Very spacious. The location was close to shops and yet in a quiet suburb. Would highly recommend BOTH White Thorns and Sykes.

Brilliant place loved it the moment we arrived.

Wish we had booked 2 weeks instead of just the 1. The garden was superb and allowed the Dogs to safely run free. The house had a very beautiful old world type feel to it. Kitchen was excellent. Bathroom had a wonderful and easy to use shower. Two spacious Lounges, lovely Dining Room. Bedrooms were top notch and comfortable beds. Hallway was very retro, loved walking down it. A couple of concerns, 1 disposal of Rubbish, we put our bags with the others in the small room behind the Garage. Is it collected regularly? 2. The Driveway is very tough to manoeuvre. The car really struggled getting up it and also going down onto the main road. Our stay was perfect though. I was literally in tears the evening before and on the morning we left. My dream place is real and is called White Thorns.

Spacious property but in need of some tlc but extremely quiet and peaceful.

Anything you needed was available and the garden for our 2 dogs was amazing - from the patio door to wide open space. Garden patio could do with an umbrella/ shade, we had lovely weather but too hot on the patio at times! Great location for access to the coast and beaches. We will be back!!

White thorns was perfect, clean and tidy as well as very comfortable.

The garden is huge and both the kids and dog had a lot of fun in it in the late afternoons and early evening running about. Couldn't fault anything about the stay and would love to come back in the future.

We had a lovely holiday, it was the first time our one year old dogs had been on holiday they loved the garden it was fully enclosed tested by our Houdini dog no escape route.

The cottage was lovely we had everything we needed it's very spacious and clean, the driveway was not a problem to drive on and reverse out. We'll definitely be coming back it's such a beautiful area. I have never been to a place that is so dog friendly. We enjoyed the Welsh cakes thanks for helping tick that off my list of things to do.

We really enjoyed our stay!

Yes, parts of the bungalow are dated, but everything was clean, the beds and lounge furniture were very comfortable, the kitchen was well stocked - and we appreciated the welcome package when we arrived. Our dogs loved the large garden too. The bungalow is s well placed, easy to get to all areas of Pembrokeshire. We hope to book again soon

We had a delightful stay in what turned out to be a 1930s, family owned, period bungalow with lots of original features and fascinating history.

The property had a lovely atmosphere and, whilst obviously being a holiday rental, had a real welcoming warmth and cosiness about it. There was lots of space, inside and out, for us and our three large dogs (who, unusually, didn't find any escape route). It was clean, had absolutely everything we needed and, on arrival, a small welcome pack was provided. We have family in Haverfordwest and will certainly pay a return visit to White Thorns.

The cottage was excellent for us with the two dogs, everything you needed for a home from home was available , garden is good size and secure although small dogs might try their luck in the hedge.

Walking to town is a 10 minute walk although coming back is not for everyone. Only one small gripe we found on arrival better to back up the steep drive as no turning point at the top

It was perfect for us and our dog- The owner very kindly let us have the property a few hours earlier, this enabled us to find the property easily , rather than unpack in the dark.

It was lovely and warm and cosy and although close to the town, it was very quiet Although some of the furniture is slightly dated, the bedrooms were very comfortable, and loved having the 2 sitting rooms, as we used one in the morning and one in the evening - The garden was great for the dog, even in November- though we did block off the front entrace to the front garden as no gate. There are very few minuses but - if it is a minus is that the drive is a bit on the steep side - there is only one bathroom/toilet ,- and although you can walk into town, its downhill there and uphill back, so would be difficult walking with shopping- but would highly recommend this property

Very spacious, everything we needed supplied. Garden absolutely amazing, very large, our dogs loved it. Only criticism was security light on back garden not working. Small welcome pack of milk and bread etc. would be a nice touch, especially after a long car journey. Would love to return.

Lovely large clean bungalow.

Would be better if the walkway the other side of the patio doors could be raised a bit as it's a bit awkward going in and out of the door.

Having three dogs, it limits our choices when booking holiday accommodation however we all agreed that White Thorns was perfect for us.

The location couldn't have been better - close to town but far enough away that you only heard birdsong in the morning! The garden was amazing and totally secure. The bungalow provided everything we needed for our stay. Located close to many lovely places meant that we had some wonderful days out in Carew, Fishguard, St Davids, St Clears, St Dogmaels, Solva etc - coastline and scenery was stunning. Would definitely recommend and return.

Everything was as stated drive is hard to access coming up the hill, wifi did not reach rear lounge.

The bungalow was very spacious and clean.

It had everything we needed for an enjoyable stay. The bed was very comfortable and the location was quiet. The garden was huge and made it enjoyable for our dog too! It was in a great location, an easy 10min walk into town and a short drive to the beaches. The only minor point, which we knew about from others’ feedback, was negotiating the driveway, especially in the dark when it was almost impossible to see where you were going despite the security light. We note that the owner is intending to do something about widening the driveway, but wonder if additional lights and perhaps a mirror to help reverse out into the road might help in the short term? We had a great stay and would recommend the property.

We had such an amazing stay, the house was wonderful, really clean, very spacious and comfy.

Very quiet location. Only niggle was that we should have been warned there were no tea-towels or oven gloves.

We had a great stay at White Thorns, the location for exploring Pembrokeshire was fantastic and the house was comfortable.

Nice clean linen, a great range of games to play with, good TV's, the house has some beautiful original features it would of been nice for the owner to make the most of these and update the decor a little. It looks a little tired in places but it wouldn't put me off staying again. Maybe allowing guests access to the garage and moving the washing machine in there and having a dishwasher in the kitchen would be helpful as no one want to wash up on holiday. Overall a great holiday and we would return.

Accommodation well situated for easy travelling to Pembrokeshire coast.

The Coastal Path was well worth walking, we saw lots of wildlife along the way. Not sure where the beach was at only 4 miles away! Good Shower, rooms very pleasant, well furnished, super secure garden to run my dog in. Cooker worked well. Hot water took a long time to come through in the kitchen and bathroom but was nice and hot when it did. Heating was efficient. Patio in garden was well situated to catch the afternoon sun. The access from the road is not ideal for a car - getting out was a problem as you couldn't turn around at the top of the drive. Part of the front garden could be taken out to accommodate a car turning around which would make it much safer to get out.

A lovely property with two living rooms and three bedrooms - a twin, large double and single.

Plenty of space. Our children enjoyed the very large garden space. Really good location close to Haverfordwest centre yet in a quiet area with a nice short walk to the river. Close to big supermarkets as well. It didn’t feel like you were close to a town centre. Good options for beaches all around. A steep driveway to the house. No problem reversing down as joining road fairly quiet.

The freedom to enjoy everythink in the time allowed.

Really enjoyed ourselves , nice break with lovely weather so long walks along the river with the dogs who really enjoyed themselves .

Every person we met in Havorfordwest was very friendly , i cannot fault the people .

We had a lovely two weeks staying at White Thorns.

The house and garden had lots of space and the facilities were excellent, a real home from home with everything that we needed, despite some of the decor being a little dated. The garden was brilliant for the dogs, information supplied in the cottage emphasised that dogs should not be left unattended in the garden as they may be able to get through the fence/hedge. There was a large patio area which meant we could sit out in the evening which we loved. The WiFi was excellent too. The ‘Welsh’ welcome pack was a really nice gesture and much appreciated after a long journey. We visit this area regularly and have previously stayed at Nolton and Hasguard’s Cross but found this location much more convenient, both for the town and for driving to the beaches as the routes were main roads rather than single track country roads. When we arrived, everywhere was lovely and clean, apart from the bathroom which was quite grubby. We really appreciated the clean linen half way through the 2 week holiday. We do feel that the kitchen would benefit from an under counter freezer as the small freezer is not appropriate for a family and that the step in kitchen (near to the fridge) is painted a different colour to prevent tripping. Overall we had a lovely holiday and will definitely be returning to White Thorns.

What a find!

This lovely property was very conveniently situated for exploring South Wales and it’s lovely beaches. It was immaculately clean and had everything we needed for our stay. There was a lovely welcome pack waiting for us which, thoughtfully, contained things we needed to start our holiday and a couple of luxuries too. The owner contacted us a couple of times before our visit giving us valuable information such as roadworks in the area and the fact that Pembroke Show would be on during our stay so that pubs, restaurants etc could be busy so it would be advisable to book in advance. I would have no hesitation in recommending this property nor returning in the future.

The property looked tired and we had problems with security of the rear patio doors that we could not lock.

This we understand to be on going problem that’s need urgent attention an we did report this on the first day of our holiday. Toilet seat was broken too. The garden was large with a patio to sit at but dog owners be ware as our dog got out of the garden and gave us a scare, no places to walk the dog from the house only roads so had to drive to more suitable areas.

White Thorns is a large property well located for exploring Pembrokeshire.

We enjoyed having the benefit of 2 lounges and the garden was enormous (although a previous renter had not cleaned up after their dog!). Great base for hitting the coast. The property boasted everything we needed (although a freezer would have been helpful) and allowed us to have a great holiday in this beautiful part of the country.
