We absolutely adored our stay here!

Quiet and peaceful location, facilities to accommodate all we needed. A great escape from busy lives with open views, surrounded by farmland and the antics of the animals and birds. Hosts actively trying to encourage wildlife, and rightly taking joy in their successes. Hosts were very helpful, giving the benefit of local knowledge when asked, and very friendly. They have developed the site over a number of years, and their thoughtfulness shows. The local pub is no longer functional, so be aware that if your plans are to eat out you will have to travel a little further.

We booked this last minute, but what a find!

The cottage is in a perfect setting, and is exactly what we needed for a quiet few days away. Everything about our stay was excellent; the hosts were extremely friendly and welcoming, and the cottage had everything we needed for a comfortable stay - it was lovely too! Thank you so much for a wonderful few days: we will be back!

If you want need to get away from it all, unwind and relax- this is the pace for you!

Excellent facilities, safe and quiet environment, friendly yet inobtrusive owners nearby. Bring the pile of books you always mean to read, bring your favourite jigsaw, that unfinished embroidery , that model - here is your chance to enjoy me time!

We stayed from 30st December to 4th January Very comfortable cozy place, but only one toilet roll for our whole 5 days stay, and at nights it was cold and radiators wont go on.

Wood for the indoor burner wasnt enough for 5 nights stay.

This was our third stay at Cwm Derw Cottage and doubtless my wife and I will be staying again.

We use it as an exceptionally comfortable 'base' when visiting family in the area. But Cwm Derw Cottage is an ideal, all season holiday cottage too, for those wishing to explore the area. Excellent.

Owners are very friendly, the accommodation was very easy to find with the travel details that were given to us.

.. The place is so spacious, cozy and well insulated, was warm all of the time the log burner made it that bit more cozy,quiet and peaceful, will willingly,definitely vist again.

A delightful cottage, beautifully presented, and so clean and welcoming.

Equipped with everything one could need. Owners very friendly and nothing too much trouble. The little pond and summerhouse was a special haven of peace and tranquility, with just us and God's creation all around us. So many beautiful birds! Thank you Rob and Liz for a wonderful holiday!

I have absolutely no hesitation recommending both this property and the hosts, Rob and Liz.

I booked for a few days' retreat on my own. The property was immaculate and peaceful. I especially loved to make use of the little summerhouse by the water - ever in October! Views from the seating on the decking were gorgeous. Apart from a daily walk in the locality, I stayed my whole break on site. I'd certainly go again. LOVED it.

The Cottage was lovely and quiet, the owners came to say hi along with the friendly dogs who just lovely the attention.

The cottage was the most well equipped with kitchen crockey compared to most I have been too. We are looking at returning next year for a little break away.

The best cottage we have ever used,and we have been touring the country since 2018 when we fully retired!

Amazingly equipped,views to die for and the friendliest of owners in Rob and Liz,for whom nothing was too much trouble.... We will return!!

Beautiful property with stunning mountain views.

Lots to do from visiting the Red Kite feeding station to a drive around the amazing Elan Valley, whilst our host Rob was informative and helpful at all times. Highly recommend for anyone wishing a relaxing holiday sitting on the veranda watching the world go by to the more adventurous looking for a challenge. Definitely recommend...Just give it ago

Comfortable cottage with excellent facilities in a delightful location.

We had a really nice time here, Robert and Liz the holiday cottage owners were very kind and helpful, nothing was to much trouble, it was lovely getting to know them , they are very hard working ambitious people and very down to earth people, we enjoyed our chats with them , meeting their dogs and having a tour around the other cottages that they built , so lovely beautifully designed.

We did find we did have to drive out to places but nearest cafe , shop I'd say around 15 to 20 minutes , we did expect this as it's an isolated place more for rest and tranquility, the are other places to drive out to of course if you don't mind driving some really nice shops in other villages . We wish rob and Liz all the best and to continue to do well with all their projects and we hope to keep in touch to find out how they're getting along with things . Cwm Derw cottage was lovely, really well appointed, decoration was beautiful, the stay was really relaxing, exactly what we needed.

The area is lovely. It was the best cottage we have stayed in. Fresh flowers, wine and bara brith on arrival was a lovely touch, highly recommend a stay at Cwm Derw holiday cottages, enjoyed it so much we have booked again for next year.

This was our second stay at Cwm Derw Cottage and there is little doubt that we will stay again.

If the location is where you want to be, just go ahead and make your booking. You'll not be disappointed. Cwm Derw Cottage really is 'home from home'. Excellent!

The cottage is perfect, has everything you need for your holiday and more.

It is in a great location for the Elan Valley with plenty of walks. Rob and Liz are friendly and informative on places to see. It is like home from home. The dogs come to welcome you as soon as you arrive and the seating area outside is great for the evening after your walk with a nice glass of wine.

Cwm Derw Cottage is the very best holiday let I've ever stayed in by miles!

It is impossible to fault the property: the comfort, immaculate cleanliness and finish, the decor, facilities, views, everything! The welcome from Rob, Liz and the dogs is super-friendly and their attention to detail is remarkable. It was a truly relaxing week in 5*++ accommodation and beautiful surroundings. Builth Wells is a lovely little town nearby with great little shops and The Groe park walk by the river. I would return to the cottage in an instant and will definitely be back!

I’ve been booking through Sykes holiday cottages for several years and I have to say that this was the most perfect place so far.

The cottage was perfect which allowed me to relax and recharge my batteries after several months of hard work and some difficult personal issues that needed to be resolved at the start of my scheduled break last week. Both Liz and Rob were the best hosts ever, I would highly recommend and wish to return to stat again in the very near future.

A fabulous property and the owners were very helpful and friendly.

They have lots of knowledge of local area and offered lots of hints and tips. Also a welcome greeting from their dogs every day. The cottage is even better than the photos showed. Perfect for me who likes peace and quiet - no traffic noise. I don’t mind driving to get to a shop. I would possibly book their other cottage Black Mountain View in future because for me the only downside was being directly overlooked by the main farmhouse. I normally prefer leaving curtains open at night.

This was such a cosy, clean holiday home, that it meant we had a really restful holiday.

Rob and Liz the owners were very welcoming. and since coming home we have been recommending it to family and friends.

The perfect cosy cottage for a Christmas getaway, it's furnished, dressed and equipped to a very high standard.

As it was Christmas the owners had even put Christmas decorations up which was a lovely touch. The property is set in beautiful countryside with lovely views from the veranda. We hope to return.

We had a fantastic week at Cwm Derw.

It has been built and maintained to a very high standard and is cosy and warm - even in the snow! It contained everything we needed and was clean and comfortable. Rob and Liz are wonderful hosts with a lovely balance of available and friendly but maintaining privacy. The area is gorgeous with plenty of walks from the front door as well as the beautiful Elan Valley close by. Looking forward to visiting again!

Beautiful cottage, stunning scenery, excellent hosts.

A birthday treat for hubby who's birthday is week before Xmas. We were made very welcome and received a welcome bottle of wine and cake. I particularly really appreciated the effort that was made to decorate the cottage with a Xmas tree and decorations as this has not been done at some places I have stayed before at Xmas. Made it all the more special. A massive thank you to Rob and liz.

Liz and Rob were perfect hosts.

Friendly, giving advice on places to visit, or just for an evening chat about the day. The cottage was surrounded by beautiful scenery, animals and wildlife. (Horses, donkey, sheep, red kites, robins, and dogs). Everything was in the cottage for a comfortable stay, bed so comfy, clean linen and towels for our 2nd week. Shower was lovely and spacious. We wanted a relaxing break and this is what we had. Weather was lovely too which was a bonus. Would recommend highly.

There is everything you need there and more. It is very clean and so comfortable. As soon as you walk through the door you relax. Rob and Liz are the perfect hosts. If you didn't want to leave the cottage you could just stay there as the grounds are beautiful.

We had a lovely stay at Cwm Drew cottage.

Loved having the dogs welcome us back each day, lots of wagging tails and excitement. Managed to go out walking most days despite the weather being a bit mixed & found some local routes so did not need to use the car. Rob and Liz the owners were friendly and on hand should we have had any queries. The bed was a bit soft for our tastes but the cottage is otherwise very comfy, has everything you need and a really good shower. Would definitely stay again.

Cwm Derw Cottage, what can I say!

Fantastic, cozy, romantic, perfect for two. It has everything you need to not go out and it’s a great base to go out and explore. Scenery is wonderful and the landscape is stunning with kites flying, lambs bleating, pigs grunting and chickens clucking (chickens and lambs nearly came home with us)! Rob and Liz are very friendly and make you feel very welcome. Would recommend this place to anyone and would love to go back again in the future.

Only 2 things to mention the skylight would be better with a blind and the settee although very comfortable was hard for us oldies to get up from!!

Superb customer care that catered for all our needs. Property very comfortable and great attention to detail.

What a great place to stay, We have just spent 6 nights in the cottage and enjoyed all of it.

It started with a warm welcome from Rob and Liz our hosts with flowers, wine and Welsh cake and continued all the way through, although both hosts are busy they were always happy to spent time to tell us about the area and where to visit. The cottage and location is quiet and piece full, great to sit out on the deck and relax after a day of exploring. We look forward to going back.

Quiet and tranquil place to stop and unwind, I have never slept so good .

Rob and Liz were welcoming guests and very pleasent, giving information where to visit and see the sights. Really enjoyed our stay here and would highly recommend it.

The cottage is fantastic, the bed is so comfortable, everything you need is there for the perfect stay.

We were greeted warmly by Rob and given useful information about the area and possible walks and driving routes.

A bottle of wine, Welsh cakes and flowers had been kindly left for us. The accommodation was excellent, comfortable, warm and spotlessly clean; moreover nothing was lacking. The shower was superb and there was always an abundance of very hot water (in fact so hot that one needs to take care). The mattress was too soft for our liking though this is a matter of personal taste; in any event we slept well. The choice of TV and radio stations on Freesat was amazing, the WiFi worked flawlessly and there was even a good phone signal (O2 network). It was nice to have a DVD/CD player and we used this a few times; an instruction in the information pack on how to change the media source on the TV would have been useful. A large basket of wood had been provided but, despite cold weather, we found no need to light the log burner as the central heating was more than adequate; in fact we didn’t even need this on much of the time as the building is so well insulated. The large wooden deck is great and offers lovely views across the valley to the distant hills. Sadly it was too cold to sit there most of the time but in warmer weather this must be a delightful place to spend some time. We did some very pleasant walks directly from the accommodation and also some touring through the beautiful countryside; we were surprised how hilly and scenic this is, especially to the west. Unfortunately the Red Lion, 0.75 mile away, at which we had hoped to eat, is closed for renovation so unusually we didn’t eat out at all. The Lakeside Café at Llandrindod Wells is a nice place to have a snack or drink. In conclusion this was an excellent holiday with lovely accommodation in a beautiful, peaceful setting and charming and helpful hosts; highly recommended!

The Cottage was very warm and cosy and the terrace is lovely to sit and enjoy the amazing views.

(weather permitting!) The bed is very comfortable and the Shower is superb,Especially after a long walk through the countryside! The hosts are a lovely couple and are very friendly and helpful. Highly recommend this cottage and will definitely return.

Cottage really warm views are beautiful. Owners very friendly and helpful. Plenty of space in cottage for two. Phone reception not always available, due to weather TV reception was a little off but that can happen anywhere. Great to have a washing machine in the property.

We had the most amazing holiday, the cottage and surroundings were second to none it was perfect in every way, also the owners are so lovely and really helpful, we wanted for nothing.

The hosts were lovely and welcoming from the beginning to the departure and the whole family were personable.

They run an immaculate two cottage business and their own also immaculate small holding which meant we could observe their daily activities feeding chickens, ducks, horses, pigs and their well trained (stay at door) cute dogs at our leisure as we relaxed and enjoyed the scenery and general ambience of the location. We saw a woodpecker, starlings and red kite as well as others giving us a fly by and would love to return and try the other cottage too! Lovely compact cottage set in very beautiful scenery.

The owners were very friendly and eager to ensure our stay was as good as possible. We thoroughly enjoyed meeting all the animals.

The cottage is in a beautiful location, is extremely comfortable and spotlessly clean.

In addition, Rob and Liz were the perfect hosts, so friendly and helpful, they made us feel at home even before we'd arrived! The cottage was warm and welcoming, we were only sorry that we hadn't booked for a week - we'll definitely be back.

Very cosy cottage and welcoming owners, made for a lovely break in mid Wales.

Plenty of mountain biking and walks in the local area, and I'd be amazed if you don't see loads of Red Kites wheeling around in the sky everyday!

Rob and Liz were fantastic in every respect and could not have been more friendly and helpful.

The accommodation was top quality and the pet dogs were a delight nad well behaved. The quality of furniture and fittings was excellent and Rob runs a quality inspection system after guests have gone and ensures all aspects down to the last light fitting have been checked and all is ready for the next guest.
