Great location.

Lovely and kind host. A little run down perhaps but fantastic base for covering both Brecon beacons and Wye valley (plus of course Sugarloaf nearby)

The Coach House was cozy and very comfortable.

It was spacious and perfect for our family of four. It is private with its own driveway and garden and yet not far from the main house. The setting was beautiful with amazing views from the front and the back of the house. We enjoyed our stay very much and we were able to relax and chill in the evenings in our private house. Star gazing through the bedroom sky windows was a delightful bonus! Thank you to the host Nicola for greeting us personally, making us feel welcome and providing what we needed during our stay. A wonderful place to stay for any length of time!

Brilliant place to stay, super location with lots of countryside and attractions.

We had a wonderful and completely perfect stay at the Coach House.

The house is very comfortable with every possible need attended to. The host is warm, welcoming and extremely accommodating. The area itself is full of things to see and do and in two week we weren't able to accomplish everything on our list! With a very good supermarket nearby we were never left for wanting on anything we needeed. We hope to visit again and soon!

The Coach House is homely, well-equipped and totally relaxing.

We were pleased that the ground floor isn’t all open-plan, as this meant our dog could sleep in the separate kitchen, which is what he is used to. The location is simply beautiful and ideal for visiting destinations in all directions. Nicola is an owner who really cares about her guests and it was a delight to meet her.

Lovely stay over new year, the house was cleaned to a high standard , beautiful garden, and great walks around , the house is old, keep this in mind when visiting as it can get a bit chilly at times , it does have a nice fire and central heating though, lovely owner too.

We had a lovely time at the Coach House over Christmas.

Nicola was extremely welcoming and hit the perfect balance of checking in to see if everything was ok and leaving us to our own devices. House was perfect for a family of 4 with a dog plus large enough for us to welcome 6 extra people (family who live close by) on Christmas Day itself. All in all a wonderful Christmas week.

Nice property, great location for us because it was very peaceful.

Good for dog who enjoyed use of 5 acre fenced in field. Comfort wise sofas could do with replacing or reupholstered. More specifically aimed at Sykes as a company, I am being put off of booking through yourselves because of the quite recent addition of good housekeeping bonds on the majority of properties. A competitor of yours offers a choice between a non refundable waiver or a bond, I prefer the waiver as I am not on edge throughout my break. This does not mean I’d leave the property in a poor state but could feel more relaxed. I don’t think I’ll book any more properties through Sykes until this is addressed…

A lovely week at the Coach House.

Quiet and relaxing with beautiful views and walks with the dog. Plenty to do and see, especially liked Crickhowell which is walkable along the canal. Nicola and Harry were so friendly and helpful. We will be back!

We had a great week at The Coach House.

The cottage was very comfortable, and we loved the garden and countryside views from all the windows. It was a superb base for exploring the area, and we loved the fact that the village of Gilwern and the canal, were both close enough to walk from the door. Nicola gave us a warm welcome, and made us feel we could ask if we needed anything. Overall a great place to stay.

We thoroughly enjoyed staying in the Coach House which was very comfortable and also perfect for us and our dog.

The Coach House is in a very peaceful location and is a good place to relax in on those days when the weather is bad. The accommodation is a good place to be based at for trips into the National Park or Abergavenny where there is a good Waitrose and Morrisons. Closer to home in the village, there are some good walks to be found along the canal and village pubs. I would highly recommend a stay in the the Coach House to anyone considering visiting this area.

Spacious and warm . Nichola the owner very helpful and welcoming . Beautiful area and enjoyed several walks on the upland areas and also in the valleys. A highlight watching two otters playing on the Usk.

Comfortable and quiet cottage in lovely surroundings.

The owner was welcoming and on hand to help but not intrusive. Easy road access to visit local towns and attractions with walks from the door. An excellent base from which to explore this interesting corner of Wales.

Lovely cottage in an excellent location.

Large lounge / dining area with a separate kitchen. The boiler unexpectedly broke down the day we arrived and actually needed a new boiler but we were well looked after and supplied with electric heaters. Showers good and bed comfortable. A few minor niggles, a tap in one of the bathrooms needs loosened and the kitchen door drags somewhat on the floor but these are minor points. Our host, Mrs Lewis was great and dealt with the boiler issue very well. We will be returning next year.

Clean, comfortable, spacious but cosy at the same time.

Friendly and helpful owner. Nice gesture to leave milk in the fridge and chocolates on the table plus dishcloth, tea towels, washing up liquid etc. Couldn’t fault it and would happily recommend.

It is set in very impressive grounds. The property is as seen in the photos. Plenty of local walks from doorstep. Abergavenny about ten minute drive. Nichola was very welcoming. A very relaxing and enjoyable break

We have loved every minute of our stay at The Coach House. We have had such a peaceful and restful week. We would love to return for a 2nd visit.

The Coach House was very comfortable and warm and was in an excellent position to explore Crickhowell and the surrounding towns like Brecon & Abergavenny.

It's a lovely, homely space and the perfect place to unwind after a long day of walking the hills and waterfalls. What a beautiful spot, so much to see and do within a short drive. We stayed at The Coach House over New Year and from the moment we walked through the front door we felt the welcome comfort of the property.

It was warm and cosy and very clean and a basketful of logs and kindling had been thoughtfully left out so that we could relax in front of a real fire without the necessity of visiting the shops. Milk, tea, coffee and sugar were left for us and we made a much needed cup of coffee on arrival, and dipped into the bowl of chocolates left out for us. Yum! We were sorry not to meet Nicola and Harry, who were on their own holiday, but Nicola was just a phone call away should we need anything and she kept in touch with us during our stay to make sure we had no problems. The weather was against us, but we still managed to get out for a few walks with our dog, Pip, and loved the scenery. Sadly long walks were not possible on this occasion as we would all have got soaked. But everyone we did meet was very friendly and we felt as though we belonged there. We so enjoyed our 3 night break and will definitely be returning, hopefully meeting Nicola and Harry on our return. Thank you for an amazing break!

Lovely, friendly hosts keen to make visitors welcome. A secluded property high in the hills with glorious mountain views. Within easy reach of both Abergavenny and Crickhowell. Superb base for those who enjoy walking - or shopping with lots of independent shops.

We'll equipped and exceptionally clean cottage. Unfortunately the field that was usually available for dog run was occupied by sheep. A fenced area for dog would be helpful and appreciated when sheep are in occupation.. That said we enjoyed a very pleasant stay at the Coach House and wouldn't hesitate to recommend staying there.

It was clean and well equipped with a washer dryer and dishwasher as well as a lovely open fire. A peaceful location and highly recommended. We had a relaxing time visiting Gilwern (Corn exchange highly recommended for a drink and local chat) and Crickhowell and climbed Sugarloaf and Pen Y Fan too. Thank you for a lovely stay!

The cottage had been tastefully converted without losing it's history and was a most pleasant place to stay. Our dog was made most welcome and there was even a huge secure field just opposite the cottage where he could run free.

This was our second visit and I wouldn't be surprised if we come back again very soon. The cottage itself, set in your private and extensive gardens, is ideally placed to explore this area of the Brecon Beacons; or just sit and relax with just the sound of birdsong or the bleating of the lambs to disturb the peace and quiet. The cottage was really lovely and we loved the roaring real fire, the tranquility and the very large safe field that we could walk our doggie in each morning.

Fabulous property in a part of the world we love visiting.

Excellent facilities, very comfortable beds, dog loved the walks right from the doorstep, quiet - all you can hear is the gentle bleating of the sheep. We have already booked to return next year!

What an absolute gem of a property.

Everything you could possibly want. Beautiful grounds and views. Cottage was very clean Warm and cosy, beds were so warm and comfy, complete with electric blankets.. We were lucky to be there when the baby lambs were in the fields surrounding us. Joy watching them. If you are looking for a relaxed holiday, we highly recommend The Coach house. Our host Nicola, was so welcoming and helpful, while not intrusive. We loved it as did our dog. Definitely another visit on the cards.

The Coach House is flawless, a true gem.

Nestled in a lovely Welsh valley with stunning peaks all around, the cottage is on a secluded, stunning estate. When needed, Nicola is a 2 minute walk away, but the cottage itself is extremely private. The interior is lovely, the fireplace extremely cozy, and it's stocked with all the amenities you could want during a holiday. There's ample parking for several cars, and the gardens are amazing for a dog. The views from the area are spectacular, and the stars at night are incredible. The WiFi is fast, too. It was perfect.

I thought that the Coach House was one of the best cottages that we have rented, noting that for many years, we have rented four or more cottages each year (in different locations).

The Coach House was spacious, easily accommodating my wife and I, and would have provided roomy accommodation for four. I note that an ample supply of crockery and cutlery was provided, which meant that it was not necessary to run the dishwasher after every meal. Some of the properties we have rented provided so little crockery and/or cutlery that, even with just two of us, it was necessary to run the dishwasher after almost every meal. The wi-fi was good. The property is well situated for walking in the Brecon Beacons.

If you are seeking quietude and tradition away from the bustle and noise of modernity then The Coach House Gilwern is for you.

beautiful setting, lovely outlook and close to the fabulous canal for miles of gentle walking on the flat. Nice towns nearby and convenience shops within 5 minutes. Comfy and homely where you can relax and enjoy the holiday home without being inhibited. Wonderful hosting- so friendly- could not wish for kinder, more attentive people.

A comfortable and spacious cottage in a quiet location.

We had an excellent time.

Owners very friendly and helpful. Intend to come back and would certainly recommend this property. Only thing I would suggest is to change the old energy light bulbs with LED ones which give much brighter light. The low light did make evening reading difficult.

The outside space allotted to the Coachhouse is not fenced at all so if you're taking a dog you should be aware of that. Unless your dog will stay close when let out it could be a problem. Nicola is a wonderful host, available if needed and very helpful.

The Coach House is set in magnificent grounds with easy access to a large field where you can exercise your dog. The property was cleaned to a high standard with plenty of hand sanitizer available. We really enjoyed our 4 day stay.

Comfortable, cosy, warm cottage. Comfy beds. Kitchen equipment more than adequate for our personal needs. Great central place for exploring the area, and numerous small shops around (also big Waitrose) to top up supplies, including coal, logs for fire. Would definitely consider returning for another stay, and to further explore the Beacons.

We were greeted warmly and everything was ready for our arrival. We had a wonderful traditional Christmas in the Coach House and because of the gardens and lovely rural setting I would happily go back any time of year.

Very spacious, clean house, with a simplistic, rustic feel, the interior was true to its exterior. We didn't want to leave! The location was ideal, had a feel of being in the middle of nowhere, (with wonderful views), but within a short drive, you were close to shops and the roads needed for further adventures! The owners were helpful and welcoming! Couldn't recommend this place enough!! We will definitely be back!

N Lewis. Such a joy to stay self-catering with provision people's possible way of life at home - e.g. tablecloth and toast rack provided, also sensibly-sized cooking dishes for 2 or 3. Grounds of property greatly enjoyed.

We found the property very comfortable.

The owner was helpful and indicated that we could use the field next to the property to walk the dog. The village of Gilwern was a lovely small village with several shops to provide extras for the holiday. It also was only a few miles from Abergavenny for more major shopping at supermarkets.

Our visit coincided with the grimmest weather of the Winter so far, yet the house was warm and comfortable. Set in a very pleasant location, with local shops within a reasonable distance, and local towns not far away. Good, varied walks within easy reach.

Good to have the cupboard contents listed inside the doors. You know what is available and where best to put it after washing up. Maybe a new frying pan (one that has a flatter base). Lovely place to stay.

The owner Nicola met us upon arrival, there was plenty of wood for the fire and a welcome pack. The weather was very snowy but the Coach house was lovely and warm. Will be staying again on our next visit to Wales.

A delightful cottage in stunning hideaway setting.

This is a gem of a property that ticked all the boxes for us.

It was private, quiet, in a perfect location, clean and very comfortable. This property is situated to the rear of the owner's lovely Georgian Manor House, but tucked away with sufficient parking for a couple of cars and has direct access to a patio and large garden which is screened from the main house by mature hedges and trees. Inside it is equipped with everything you could wish to have. The large open fireplace gives out plenty of heat and we were provided with a generous basket of logs which kept us going for a few days. The property is also very well centrally heated and you can control the temperature and timing of the heating to suit your needs. The large skylight windows in the bedrooms afford a great vewing of the night sky and stars on clear nights. Wi Fi signal was good, if you can't bear to be without your 'tablet' or 'smart phone'. The beds were very comfortable and we loved the absolute peace and quiet of the Coach House. Direct access to the Brecon Canal is only a 5 mins walk from the Coach House and we happily followed the tow path to llangattock on route to Crickhowell. The local shop and pub is just 10 mins walk away but is a steep walk back-up the hill, but nothing too strenuous . There is lots to do in this area. We will definitely be planning to come back to the Coach House next year.

Very spacious, well-stocked and comfortable property. No problem with parking. Lovely location. Ideal for walkers and those wishing to explore the area and visit the market towns.

Farmhouse was very spacious, well equipped in beautiful setting.

We were not able to just let the dog out in the garden alone on the mornings, all 3 sofas in the lounge were most uncomfortable we would recommend. They are all changed . No one had a comfortable evening whilst sitting shutting or watching to. The beds however were very comfortable and the master bedroom was very spacious with the lovely veranda offering beautiful scenery / sunsets along with the powerful shower in a reasonably sized cubicle was wonderful.
