Derlwyn

Wonderfully situated, just above the shops and pubs.

Quiet, quaint and a perfect base for walking, up the mountain or down to the coast. Friendly neighbours too.

The property has carpet beetle & definitely needs addressing.

The dining area would benefit a washable floor covering & lastly the bedroom blinds need replacing with blackout ones.

Well have been going to Derlwyn for 5years,we try to go twice a year myself my partner and ours 2doggies.

We love it there it’s a beautiful property and within all amenities close by.

We had a fabulous week despite very wet weather!

The cottage was spotless and we loved the welcome beer and waffles. The garden was perfect for our dog.

We stay at Derlwyn about 3times a year myself my partner and our 2dogs .

We love it there it’s a very comfortable and clean place with lots of facilities and local to all amenities.

Derlwyn is in a great location just a short walk from the centre of Newport.

The property was well maintained and spotlessly clean. To the rear is a lovely garden with patio and lawned area above, both appeared very secure if bringing a dog as we did. If you’re planning on exploring further a field the property offers great access to the Preseli Hills, Gwaun Valley and further a field. Despite the weather we had a lovely comfortable stay and will certainly consider staying again. The only slight negative was the on road parking in front of house although Goat St is very quite with plenty of room for passing cars.

We found the cottage to be well equoped and comfortable.

The kitchen had everything you could possibly need. Outside patio and garden were lovely. We didn't use them as weather not suitable. The cottage is perfectly positioned to explore the area. Being able to walk to Newport sands was a real bonus for us and our dog.

We had a super stay in this lovely old cottage in a quiet street in the centre of Newport.

It is very well equipped, only thing missing was oven gloves!! And very comfortable. Our two adult boys were walking the coast path so this was a lovely base for us to support them from, and for a bit of respite from camping. Thank you.

found the distance to the beach misleading, glad we went in the car

Derlwyn is a very well appointed cottage.

It is bot spacious and cosy. The rear patio and garden are great areas in which to relax. The cottage is comfortably furnished with fabulous kitchen and bathroom. The cottage is extremely handy as it is within easy walking distance of shops, restaurants and pubs. The beaches and cliff walks are a short distance ( easily walkable) away. But shhhhh don't tell anyone or it might be booked up next year.

Pros: great location as it’s a short walk into Newport to access shops and there are some great restaurants.

Easy parking right outside. The kitchen was well equipped for home cooking and the garden was really nice and fully enclosed so perfect for our dogs. Also has a washing line which we found very useful. Thoughtful welcome gift and rooms downstairs were good size. Great selection of puzzles and games for rainy day entertainment. Cons: this is not the house for you if you’re taller than around 5’8” as the rooms upstairs are sweet but tiny and have sloped ceilings. We had an issue with the travel cot as it was broken but I suspect the previous users had not told the owners. We had difficulty contacting using the numbers on the website as they are landlines and there is no phone reception but once we had contacted someone this was immediately resolved and a replacement provided. While the house was generally clean, downstairs had an infestation of carpet moths.

We have stayed at Derlwyn many times so we are big fans and it is ideal for our Golden Retriever .

The welcome gifts were much appreciated , thank you . The telephone call the day after our arrival from the office in Newport checking everything was ok was not something we had received before , but definitely a welcome addition . This year our visit coincided with fantastic weather so we spent some time sitting on the patio , which is a fantastic sun trap . The cottage was very clean as always. What could be better … the double mattress is in need of replacement and the smell from the “ Henry “ vacuum cleaner was terrible ! We will be back next year !

Lovely cottage and garden, beautifully furnished and decorated.

Would definitely recommend, and would book again if staying in the area.

We have stayed in this cottage before.

It is very comfortable, extremely clean and very well equipped. Having a lovely patio area and garden and being in an excellent location makes it so fantastic that we've booked again for next year.

A lovely cottage - we return every year!

Lovely property, clean and comfortable.

Good location in centre of Newport. The kitchen needed a whisk and spare food waste bags.

This was our tenth stay at Derlwyn - we remember the old kitchen and bathroom and when the lights on the steps outside used to work !

Derlwyn suits us perfectly and the facilities are ideal for our golden retriever. The double mattress could do with replacing , it’s isn’t the most comfortable .Otherwise all good . Thank you for the welcome pack .

Another lovely stay in Derlwyn.

Really comfortable and cosy

This is our second stay here and it is a lovely cottage.

Newport is a beautiful town with pubs, coastal walks, shops and cafes on your doorstep. You can also charge your electric car in the carpark, which is a real bonus!! We will definitely be back!

The cottage is spotlessly clean , warm and comfortable.

The kitchen is very well equipped, we cooked Christmas dinner here and had enough of everything to enable this . The cottage is 5 minutes walk into the village on a quiet back street. The garden is lovely and enclosed , our dog tried unsuccessfully to get out !! Which was very reassuring!! Thoroughly enjoyed our 3rd visit here Susie had so kindly decorated the cottage for Christmas for us , a very nice touch We will certainly be back

We enjoy staying at Derlwyn and this must be about the sixth time we have stayed there.

It is always spotless, comfortable and provides the peace we come to North Pembs for. It has character, is close to the centre of Newport and we never tire of walks straight from the cottage. The only frustration we feel is when the tv tells us the signal is too weak. But this is not really a problem at all.

lovely comfortable and spacious.

great garden too. quiet and private place. the 2 new doors to the wc and the bathroom need their catches adjusting. people kept getting stuck inside, or unable to open the doors from the outside one of the lounge table lamps had been mended but fell apart, also the bulb had gone. otherwise the cottage was perfect for the 5 of us plus one dog. the town of newport is gorgeous, loads of handy shops and the whole area truly beautiful with wonderful beaches and walks.

We loved this cottage.

Great location, very clean, lovely garden and a perfect for us as a family of five (including the dog!). We liked it so much we booked it again!

Derlwyn is a brilliant little cottage, really well equipped and very comfortable for a family of 5 adults.

It was exactly as described on the website, just perfect.

Overall we enjoyed our stay and have returned several times already.

A few more mugs would be good to make maximum use of the dishwasher.

Really nice cottage - great location; good kitchen; comfortable beds.

Great walks around and nearby.

This cottage was wonderful.

Very well located for a variety of dog walking. It was warm and comfortable. I would definitely recommend it. Two small things, the ignition button on the gas hob still does not work. And a hose pipe would be useful on the outside tap, if the dogs have been outside for a wee!

The cottage has some very nice features: the kitchen is well equipped with modern appliances; the bathroom has a lovely shower and bath; the garden is pretty and tranquil; and the cottage is in a nice quiet but convenient position in the town.

It is rather dark (the ancient lightbulbs could do with updating) and the upstairs space is small and a bit cramped with some low side roofs, but this is an old stone cottage.

Derlwyn was clean, comfortable and well equiped.

The only quibble we have is that it would be nice to have chairs for the upper garden! We would definitely stay at Derlwyn again. We thoroughly enjoyed our holiday and Newport is a lovely small town.

A well presented Welsh cottage with a great cosy atmosphere.

Well provided kitchen with just about every implement needed. Good standard of decoration with furniture matched to the cottage. We had a dog and so the garden was an added bonus. The house was in a quiet residential area and we were able to walk to the town pubs and shops.

The location is great and there was a hot and powerful shower and decent WiFi.

However, decor and furnishings are dated. Felt a bit unloved. Considering it sleeps five there were only three large mugs and a random selection of glassware; ignition on hob broken; logs and kindling provided but no matches; no clothes airer so hard to dry bath towels with no heating. This is a traditional cottage so the front door opens straight onto a cream carpeted dining area; with no rear access this was challenging with dogs and wet weather gear. I have been renting holiday cottages for about 30 years and things have moved on from wire hangers in wardrobes, mismatched furnishings and a 'welcome pack' with a tiny jar of instant coffee! This cottage could be great with improved lighting, updated decor and a bit of TLC.

The lighting was quite poor.

The kitchen lacked a few bits of equipment, as well as a good set of glasses. Otherwise, it was what we expected and was in a good location. It was spotlessly clean, good linen and towels provided.

There was Very inadequate space for our clothes, either to hang or to put in a drawer.

Very small bedrooms. Inadequate cutlery. We had to wash up after every meal and sometimes in the middle. Not to have a fish slice in the utensils meant not to be able to take a fried egg or other out of the pan. There was no dustpan and brush for our use. Also, the lighting needs improving. You can publish this if you want to. But I suggest you use it to make things better for future tenants.

It was a great cottage , ideal location and have already booked for next year !

Cosy period cottage with modern and well fitted bathroom and kitchen.

In quiet lane but close to amenities and coast.

Very nice cottage and our stay was extremely enjoyable.

No problems and help was at hand should there have been any. Recommended for sure.
