Cockshead Cottage
Description
Situated high up near Cemaes Head, the highest point on the Pembrokeshire Coast Path and overlooking Cardigan Island, this detached cottage enjoys views across the Teifi Estuary and further out to sea. Dolphins are sometimes seen in the bay but are regular visitors just further north at New Quay, where you can take dolphin spotting boat trips and are seldom disappointed.
The owners have made every effort to ensure that all your needs are catered for, outside is a table and chairs which also takes in the amazing views and catches the sun and indoors everything you need is provided for.
The cottage is situated just under a mile from the Blue Flag beach of Poppit Sands, which is patrolled by lifeguards from May to September and is also a base for the Cardigan RNLI lifeboat and shop. There is also a popular beach café and ice cream kiosk.
Cardigan is some four miles away and the fully restored site of Cardigan Castle is well worth a visit and it boasts a restaurant/café which is recommended. The town itself offers a good selection of shops, restaurants and galleries.

Love this place, this was our third visit and won't be our last.
Anne and dog Spot were super friendly and helpful.
Absolutely perfect weather fantastic, s beautiful place to stay the view is priceless the host was lovely and spot the dog was a daily visitor which we really enjoyed
All great, the views from the property are amazing.
Such a lovely owner of the property.
The first thing you notice is the fantastic views and the peace and quiet.
the cottage is small but cosy and the host was very helpful. We will return
Cottage was dirty on arrival.
Cottage is very tired and old needs money spent on it to bring g it back to life Garden was not maintained But a beautiful sea view
Nice location, fantastic views , very peaceful and tranquil.
Couldn’t ask for anything better and would definitely come again. In my opinion, the cottage itself and outside area is in need of a refresh to give it the wow factor on arrival. The cottage inside is very clean and tidy and very comfortable. The decor is very good with some nice touches. The shower cubicle could do with some grouting and the oven could probably do with a spring clean inside. Also, the light above the kitchen table needs fixing. The two settees could do with replacing as they are a bit worn now, although they were very comfortable . Also, a slightly larger tv would be nice. First impression on arrival is that the outside of the cottage itself could do with a whitewash and the woodwork could do with staining. The light on the wall by the patio also needs completing so you can sit out at night and see the sunsets. The outside area of the cottage looks as though it has been a little neglected over time and It could do with a good tidy up around the side of the building and a make a covered area for the recycling bins etc. The planters outside the front door were tired and needed weeding and replaced with some nice flowers and the patio area itself needs a good weeding in between the slabs and maybe a jet wash. Some nice pots placed around the patio would also look nice. A nice bbq for bbq lovers in the corner of the patio would be nice to replace the previous one which is not there anymore. The current garden bench on the lawn needs replacing as it is broken although it is placed in a nice spot and the cast iron garden chair could also do with painting. A couple of garden relaxers would also be a nice touch for those lazy days enjoying the view. From a health and safety point of view, a rail down the steep steps to the lawn would be a benefit. If you want to pull out all the stops, have you thought about a hot tub after those walks on the coastal path? With these things put in place, the rating would easily be ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Property was clean upon arrival.
Owner very welcoming ...telly very small for Property.. need instructions for working cooker and shower ... switch for putting heating on too high someone not too tall have a job reaching ... settee a bit worn rips but Still comfortable gd view
Cockshead Cottage was lovely.
It’s compact but in a great location with amazing views both during the day and also the sky at night. It’s quite isolated through narrow lanes but is very peaceful because of that. The cottage was clean and tidy and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay here.
Coxside cottage is small, but perfectly formed.
The views are amazing and the peace and quiet wonderful one of the best cottages we have ever rented. Thank you.
It is a gem of a place.
There is just peace, quiet and nature. It was the week away we needed.
Quite ,relaxing, fantastic views ,will be back
What a wonderful lovely place to stay, fantastic views peace and quiet except for the bird song lol, Ann our host was really welcoming, she was really nice and friendly, we're definitely going back for another stay.
Spectacular views!
Amazing position and delightful outlook.
The cottage ideal for a couple plus dog. Bedrooms and beds great. Unfortunately no info folder with tele numbers and instructions. Uncontrollable heating, no hot water after 10.30pm. Poor 15" television with broken remote. No hair dryer, dirty towel. Nevertheless the sun shone for the week so we had a great holiday. Some care and attention would make this cottage a wonderful destination.
The cottage was warm and cosy.
Beautiful views. Brilliant for our dog. The only issue was no WiFi. Maybe felt a little cut off. Wonderful for complete peace and quiet.
what a lovely little house, with the most amazing views.
We had an amazing stay here.
A fantastic place to stay, I have recommended to friends already.
Having no Wifi is great, allowing me to detox from tech, a great win! Ann told me at the outset that my dog was free to roam, fair to say it was doggy heaven she had a great time. Looking forward to another visit in the future.
Outstanding views could not fault, property a little tired, in need of only a little tlc but on the whole comfortable with pretty much all you need, there is no bbq or appropriate outside seating and what was there needs tlc too.
We went to relax and that we did with beautiful walks for ourselves and our dog, this could be the perfect retreat by adding just a few little extra touches. Thank you Anne and Spot
Beautiful cottage with the stunning sea view.
Walking distance to the beach and long coast path just behind the cottage. We had a great time again. Definitely will be back.
Fabulous views, friendly host (and Spot the dog).
Everything we needed in the property. No wifi but this was not a problem. Perfect place to recharge your batteries. Would stay again.
cottage clean and tidy snug and cosy.
beds comfy to sleep in .doors rattle when windy. have left the owner some suggestions like putting up handrails up the stairs. handrails for garden steps.info needed for a doctor and location of nearest hospital. the patio area needed weeding and table has broken slates this area looks unloved
Fantastic location.
Cottage well equipped but dated. I didn't sleep well due to hard bed and thin curtains. Narrow access roads but lovely and peaceful, good for walks. A bit far out from facilities
We all had lovely holiday Charlie enjoyed his little friend sop the dog the cottage was very clean and comfortable .
thank you Ann and spot for making us welcome
Anne was very welcoming.
The cottage met all our basic needs. The views were spectacular, the tranquility wonderful. Cooker - fan oven didn’t appear to be working - but we managed to suss out the rest of the kitchen. Chipped plates always dismays me as they are so cheap to replace. Kitchen scissors & tongs would have been useful. Beds were comfy - there were dog hairs on the upstairs rug, but we knew it was a dog friendly cottage? Bathroom sink tap was a bit soapy and hair in the sink on arrival but that feels nit picky but both these last bits are new to us. We would be happy to return - which I think says a lot.
Absolutely lovely location and owner.
Thank you so much for the stay we loved it!
Cosy, comfortable house with everything we needed, a superb view, good walks closeby and a friendly, helpful host.
No instructions how to use heating had to figure it out ourselves.
A tiny sticker could hardly read up really high up . There were bugs all around ghe property. The views were amazing. A very steep mountain road to get up ,should be a warning ,my mums car could hardly making it up there . In fact my mum could drive up there my husband had to go back half way to rescue her .
Whilst we had a lovely break in a beautiful setting, it's first time we had to Hoover all carpets needed as dead flies and bugs under beds and sofas, and bed frames thick with dust, not been done for a while.
Did speak to owner who depends on a cleaner. You as a company need to visit to alter rating, as bit tatty furnishing wise, sofas need a clean or replacing, torn and tatty cushions.
We enjoyed our stay in the cottage, which we found quite comfortable but feel it is coming up to needing a bit of TLC, just minor things the loose cushions on the sofas are looking a bit tatty , and the bathroom in places is a bit worn.
The garden furniture didn't look inviting to sit on and the garden area in general needed attention. Overall allowing for value for money we felt it was reasonably fair.
The cottage is a warm and a lovely place.
The beds are very comfortable and clean, as well as the other facilities. The view outside the cottage was amazing. Being able to see a myriad of stars at night was just as brilliant! Would definitely recommend to others!
Absolutely wonderful holiday.
Thank you so much. Wonderful memories we will treasure and we home to come back in the future. Thank you for making us so welcome. Couldn't have been better.
The cottage was everything we wished for from the view, cleanliness, access to the coastal path , isolation, friendly owner , we will definitely recommend and book again ourselves
this cottage is in a place which is heaven, quiet, fantastic views great host never want to leave
A beautiful location stunning views Anne was a very nice and helpful person in my opinion the cottage needs a bit of TLC
Great location, extremely helpful owner, very comfortable enjoyable stay will certainly come back again.
A truly magnificent spot, the views are what clearly makes this place as well as Anne & spot the dog who are always on hand to offer help & advice but at the same time leave you to get on with it without interruption.
We experienced a problem with the external door & could not open it so had to use the french doors to get in & out. Reported it to Anne & a locksmith came to fix it the following day, no hassle!.. The cottage is in need of upgrade & some TLC in our opinion but non the less, it’s a comfortable cosy small cottage that had everything we needed. One gripe though - the shower was not hot enough & lacked power flow but that’s just us!.. It certainly wouldn’t deter me booking here again in the future.
Had a fabulous 2 weeks, very well looked after by Anne thank you
The pictures and description are accurate, great location, perfect for getting away from it all.
Fantastic quiet location with mind blowing view, watching seals and dolphins through the binoculars.
Comfy and flexible garden furniture needed. BBQ needs TLC. Owner really approachable and friendly but also not invasive. Great stay. Thanks.
The location is beautiful and could not be faulted.
Anne (the owner) was very welcoming, helpful and approachable, but gave you privacy and space. Some of the kitchen cupboards, shower and garden furniture could do with a bit of an upgrade, but other than that we had a great stay and would definitely go back.
Great location, Ann the host was really friendly and offered advice about the area.
Customers should be prepared for the last couple of miles to the property along the narrowest and steep approach road with tall hedgerows on either side.
However, the view over Cardigan Bay from Cockshead Cottage more than makes up for that tiresome journey in and out to the property.
Lovely warm cosy cottage with spectacular sea views.
The front of the house and window frames could be painted to give first impressions the wow factor . And to be able to have comfortable garden furniture and sun loungers
Ann is a fantastic host made us extremely welcome she even got up early to say goodbye really lovely lady we will definitely be rebooking this cottage
it is really off the beaten track, very narrow lanes ,obviously superb views the garden furniture needs up grading, also a bigger televison And one that works!
!!! owner very pleasant and tried to be helpful
Excellent cosy warm cottage with breathtaking views but it is not made clear how narrow the lane is and that there are some tight hairpin bends but when you get there it was well worth it .
The owner is very welcoming and is always ready to help if needed and she never intrudes on your space .
the cottage is brilliant probably the best we have stayed at, the view is a postcard photo !
! Stunning.. Anne is so helpful and a pleasure to meet. No doubt will be back. George & Barbara.. many thanks Anne.
The cottage was absolutely fantastic, stunning views , amazing walks and the perfect getaway.
The owner Anne was just lovely she gave us information about the local area and walks which are on ybr doorstep.. Our 5 year old granddaughter fell in love with her dog Spot. We can't wait to visit again.
This is was perfect little get away.
With stunning views and a fabulous little cottage. Owner was very friendly and helpful, nothing was too much trouble, will be going back.
Our hostess Anne was very helpful and friendly.
Very calming views enhanced by birds, boats and occasional red wine.
