A spectacular stretch of golden sands along Carmarthenshire’s coastline, Cefn Sidan Beach is well worth a visit.
At approximately eight miles long, Cefn Sidan beach is regarded as one of the most spectacular beaches in West Wales. The beach is situated between Kidwelly and Burry Port on the Carmarthenshire coastline and due to its size, you can pretty much guarantee a quiet spot away from the crowds.
There are lots to see and do in the local area, take a look to see what you can discover at Cefn Sidan Beach…
Cefn Sidan beach was the first beach in Wales to be awarded the renowned Blue Flag Beach award. Despite its popularity, the sheer amount of space ensures there’s plenty of room for everyone to make the most of this delightful beach. Whether you fancy having a go at windsurfing, sailing, or simply just enjoying a tasty picnic, there’s lots to be enjoyed here.
The beach is backed by sand dunes and the enchanting Pembrey Forrest. The dunes are also an SSSI site and offer a variety of scenic paths to explore.
Pembrey Country Park encourages visitors to take part in their #2minutebeachclean – why is likely why you won’t see much litter while you stroll along the shore. If you’d like to take part, just spend a few minutes searching for any bits of plastic waste that have been washed up. Remember to snap and share on social media!
You’ll also find an abundance of walking trails in the nearby area. With over 500 acres of woodland in the Pembrey Country Park to be discovered, you certainly won’t run out of things to see and do.
The beach is staffed by the RNLI and has a designated safe swimming area during the summer months.
Facilities include toilets, a cafe/restaurant and a shop which sells various beach wares. There is ample parking space in the many car parks – a fee is charged.
A boardwalk at the main entrance provides disable access.
There are some restrictions between 1 May to 30 September on the main beach, but there are designated dog-friendly areas during these months so that your furry friend doesn’t have to miss out on the fun!
