Pentre Fawr

Lovely part of countryside.

Best view's ever, especially with snow over New Year from the hot tub/decking. Modern property with plenty if space for 4 adults and 4 teenagers. House well equipped, but take a hairdryer with you. Hosts welcoming with clear information and welcome treats. Nice touches with wine fridge and log fire. Only suggestions would be a touch up of decor here and there, but this did not spoil our stay.

We stayed 28th Feb - 2nd March as a group of 6, we had a fantastic stay, the cottage was in a beautiful spot and the cottage itself was just perfect, the kitchen was fully equipped.

Sitting in the hot tub looking out to stunning views. Cannot fault the property at all. We went to the lake at llandridod wells and also booked a mobile massage therapist (L K mobile therapist) to come to the cottage who was brilliant! The Owners were fantastic, we had to contact them as the hot tub wasn’t up to temperature on arrival but they came and sorted it out, got stuck in the mud on our way home and rang the owners as we had only just left and they came to the rescue!! We all are hoping we will be able to come back as we had such a brilliant stay.

Beautiful place to stay

Amazing stay.

Very relaxing for the parents and lots of room for the children to explore and run around! Rooms all very comfortable and good size. Having a travel cot and highchair was perfect (would have been fab to have a stair gate but this is the only thing we would add/change) The place was so well equipped anything we needed was there and the hot tub was a lovely addition. Thank you for a fabulous stay we will be back!!

Fabulous kitchen facilities provided- we had everything we needed to cook big group meals and plenty of room for 8 people around the dining table.

There were a few cobwebs about the place which indicated the cleaning could have been a touch more thorough but overall the cabin is cosy and welcoming. We did plan ahead and bring our own blankets as the sofas are leather and seating in the lounge only accommodates 6 people. We loved the sunken hot tub and this was the main draw of our stay. Would definitely return, a lovely short break had by all.

We had a fantastic stay at Pentre Fawr.

The lodge/cottage was beautiful and spacious for 8 people. The location was beautiful and out of the way. Great place to get away. The facilities were great. Hot tub was great and was used every day. The kitchen was very modern and kitted out with everything including cutlery which was very clean. The bedrooms were spacious and comfortable. Bathroom was huge and again fit for purpose. We are planning our next visit in the new year.

Wonderful experience from start to end.

Lovely secluded property tucked away amongst the greenery. Property had all the amenities required, ample space for the 8 of us. Couldn’t thank the hosts enough, extremely inviting and always happy to help. Our first big family staycation and can honestly say we’re planning on coming back again next year.

Really great place.

Peaceful and idyllic. Plenty of room, has everything you could possibly need. Really good for the price. The only issue I found was the garden furniture was quite rusty and worn, I would presume from the elements but it stained a few of our clothes, however it did come out after a quick wash so no harm done. But other than this our stay was fantastic and would definitely consider booking again ☺️

Stunning cottage in a beautiful location!

We didn’t want to leave. Couldn’t fault a single thing, it was clean to a high standard, well stocked and the kitchen was equipped with everything you could need and more. Welcome package was so helpful and thoughtful. Hot tub is massive, clean and well maintained with amazing views. Hosts were attentive and kind. Had the chance to look around the farm, feed some lambs and Gareth answered all our questions and shared so much interesting information. We would definitely visit again and recommend to anybody looking for a break away. Thank you Julie and Gareth.

Lovely property very clean, good communication with owner.

Very equipt for all your needs on a short break. Maybe an extra couple of lights for outside on a nighttime as was difficult to see in hot tub. Otherwise perfect get away location. Would 100% recommend.

How have I not been to Wales?

I mean I have been as child. But I do not remember Wales being this spectacular. The landscape is magnificent. Our week spent at Pentre Fawr was great. End of October too! Thankfully the weather was good, answered prayers that one! The location itself is really lovely, some of the early morning views of low levels clouds touching the hills with the sun starting to pierce through — truly magical. I took pics! The barn was great, very clean, comfortable, spacious. Working wood burning stove, which made it very cosy! But central heating was an option to. The central heating was very good actually, it took very little time to warm up, thanks to the thermostat control. Very efficient. I was also TV, with the latest apps, WiFi, so kids were happy. The hot tub was ace! And with such views it was really something special. It was also quite large so the kids loved it too. I will definitely go back. Our week cost around £600. Because it was end of October, for sure, but it was an absolute bargain. Our only criticisms would be minor. 1) the shower upstairs in the bathroom, the water pressure was awful. And the showerhead was quite small, so it felt like you were showering under a large slow running tap. 2) The wooden decking outside, and especially around the hot tub is super slippery. This is just an unfortunate reality of wooden decking. However, what we would love to see, is perhaps a rubber nonslip mat between the back door and the hot tub. In the end, we had to lay down a beach towel permanently, to safely make it to the hot tub. My son (7yrs old) did slip and fall down, he was a bit shaken, but thankfully it wasn’t bad. 3) the hot tub, is perhaps showing its age a little. Some of the bubble jets don’t work as well as others. Also a plastic panel near the controls kept falling off, and we had to fix it back on. These really are minor quibbles. As the hot tub is still really good. 4) Also - this is not a criticism of the cottage. I would love information on how to get to Great Rhos, which is a mountain close by. It’s one of the reasons why I chose the location. We ended up in a wood near new Radnor, walking up a logging track. And we didn’t really seem to find great Rhos. There didn’t seem to be many signs or parking or information. 5) lastly, I would’ve loved some information on potential walks that you can take from the actual cottage. Some of the surrounding hills, and landscape, is so enticing, but we were completely clueless as to whether you could actually walk across what seem to be farmland, land, where animals were grazing. some of the hills out the back of the cottage looked amazing. And I would very much like to have walked up them, but I had no idea whether there was a way to? Overall, we had a fantastic time Pentre Fawr. He gets a very happy thumbs up. I would go back, and I would certainly recommend it to anyone, wanting a relaxing retreat, that can also facilitate families, in a really spectacular location.

We had the loveliest stay here, a group of 8 girls!

We LOVED it and couldn’t fault anything. Julie and her husband were so helpful and on hand if we needed anything, we could just drop them a text! They made us feel so comfortable. The cottage is LITERALLY in the middle of nowhere, but it was 100% worth the travel along the country roads.

Had a lovely few days at this peaceful location.

The property was comfortable had everything we needed and more. Stayed there with my grand children and there was a safe garden area for them to ru around and play in and burn off lots of energy and the hot tub was a bonus for me and my daughter to relax in, all in all a wonderful week with lots to do, however a great place to do nothing and unwind.

Quiet and wonderful views. Hot tub and bbq outside made it perfect for our celebrations for the weekend. Plenty of space for all 8 of us inside and lovely welcome from the owners too. Only rated down slightly due to state of bathroom when we arrived - just needed a good clean.

A lovely property in a stunning setting.

The hosts are there if needed but in no way obtrusive. Definitely would recommend. A day out to Aberystwyth driving through the Elan Valley and via Devil’s bridge and Bwlch Nant Yr Arian forest visitor centre was delightful with amazing scenery.

even the weather was fine. lovely seeing the new lambs taking their first steps. Of an evening you cant see any lights from neighbors. Sitting in the hot tub and looking at the stars was an amazing and unforgettable experience. Its only a shame its so far to the nearest pub - but you cant have it both ways - Loved it and would defiantly come again

We booked a small break (8 adults) to celebrate a birthday and cannot recommend Pentre Fawr enough!

It’s very rural which only added to the beautiful scenery and privacy for us. The cottage is beautiful, clean and the perfect place to relax in the hot tub under the stars. Value for money and will definitely be back, thank you so much again to the lovely owners x

We had an absolutely fabulous time, cottage has everything you could ever wish for.

And in such an idyllic place. Wonderful to sit outside with a brew and watch all the baby lamb's being so playful. Absolutely spotless clean when we arrived. Kitchen is brilliant for cooking (they have kitted it out fabulously) the seven if us has truly enjoyed every minute. It's a little far of the beaten track, but that's exactly what we wanted. And this cottage didn't disappoint. We will definitely be booking for next year xx big thankyou to the host's, the cottage is a huge credit to you, we loved it

The weather was the worst we have had on holiday, but the barn was very well equipped which enabled us to have a fantastic time staying in playing games and going in the hot tub.

We chose to stay here for a Christmas Party get away.

It was absolutely perfect! Beautifully appointed, lovely bedrooms, fantastic fireplace, and all this in the middle of nowhere.

Hi, We had an amazing girly weekend, thank you so much for a gorgeous stay!

The house was clean, tidy and had everything we needed, a lovely little welcome pack was a nice touch :) Only downside was the hot tub, was lovely on night 1 but then after that it had an awful smell to it, not sure if anyone attended to clean/add chemicals as described. The shower also wouldnt turn to a normal temp and was very very hot so couldnt be used - owner was contacted and offered to come and fix but as we were leaving the next morning we didnt think it neccessary. Other than that a lovely stay and would recommend to anyone and visit again! Thank you :)

The house is perfect for a family with small children ( our grandchildren are 3 and 7).

There is lots of space and well laid out. We were very comfortable and everyone enjoyed the hot tub. Julie and Gareth had kindly given us goodies when we arrived and called in to check everything was ok. The setting is gorgeous. There is a pebbly “ beach” next to a stream a short walk from the house and kids ( large and small) enjoyed a welly paddle. Great situation for Llandrindod Wells , Rheidol Railway and the beautiful Elan Valley.

A beautiful converted barn down a single track road through lovely secluded Welsh valleys and hills.

3 holiday rentals in one place, but we couldn't hear the other guests at all, and when in the hot tub you couldn't be seen at all. Loads of lambs and sheep right outside and gorgeous views. Really spacious and well equipped, although some of the kitchen items really needed a clean. The surfaces and furniture were very well cleaned. Brief meeting with the owner who was lovely. Only saw the farmers once a day asode from that. A wonderful stay.

This was a brilliant trip away, definitely exceeded expectations from the views off of the garden to space and facilities provided.

Exactly what we wanted and will definitely be back and I have already recommended to friends and family !

My family loved the jacuzzi and the privacy of where the cottages are.

It's all nature surrounding area so we took walks when it wasn't raining. The only bad thing was that there was the storm and we were limited to explore. Will definitely go back and recommend my family and friends.

Had a great Christmas week here, it was so peaceful, and the property is lovely, done to a very high standard, everything we needed was there.

Kids especially enjoyed the hot tub. We found many of walk ways around the property, and my son loved watching the trains go by. Will definitely book again in the future.

Very enjoyable stay, only downside was lack of storage space in twin bedrooms.

Beautiful cottage in a stunning, peaceful location.

It is very isolated which is wonderful for a quiet week but bear in mind it is a 40 minute round trip for a pint of milk so make sure you're stocked up. The owners are lovely, friendly people who don't impose on your privacy but they are there if you need them. We had everything we needed in the property, it has a well stocked kitchen and we easily catered for a family of six. full size dishwasher, washer and separate dryer and a huge cooker which is always appreciated for a larger family! My only complaint would be that the beds were a little too firm for us but that's a minor niggle and everything else was wonderful. The Elan valley was beautiful to visit, I'd recommend going after rainfall and we also enjoyed exploring the owners fields and the river and train crossing for a wander

Fabulous break!

Gorgeous location. The place was clean and just beautiful!! Only problems we had was the TV doesn’t really work properly it was constantly turning off and our mop was half broken

Pentre Fawr was amazing , even better than we’d imagined.

This was our second break at Pentre Fawr - we booked up again only a few weeks after our first visit last year.

Just home from a fantastic four night break at Pentre Fawr.

We fully recommend staying here. The house is beautifully finished and in the most fabulous location with amazing views. Complete peace and quiet. We were two families with young children and the layout worked perfectly. Gareth and Julie are so welcoming and such lovely hosts. Their hospitality, kindness and the little extra touches made our holiday one that we will all remember. We can’t wait to visit again! Thank you

We were 6 ‘young’ ladies away for a child/partner free break.

The old renovated barn was everything we needed and downstairs ideal for socialising. Beautiful views and comfortably isolated. We were cheeky enough to take the owners up on their offer of watching lambs being born on their farm which was amazing. We learnt a lot about lambing and keeping a farm! What a fantastic family. We highly recommend a stay at Pentre Fawr, it really does live up to its description.

What a gem hidden in the countryside!

I would highly recommend coming to those who want to switch off and just enjoy the company of those your go with! It was a well located spot which was secluded and the lack of signal was very welcomed in our busy lives! The hosts were phenomenal, even coming to our aid with extra tea bags mid weekend. We will definitely be back!

Booked Pentre Fawr for my husband's birthday.

It's an absolutely beautiful place. The owners left a lovely welcome pack for when we arrived. Stunning views and stunning house. The hot tub was well kept and the house was very clean. Would definately recommend to anyone and we would love to go back.

The information of how to get to the pentre cottage could be more clearer as we drove down to the neighbours house where the postcode took us and got a little stuck it should state to carry on up the hill and maybe have a sign put up.

We had a lovely welcome pack containing milk eggs welshcakes and rose lemonade..very kind of them. We would definitely stay again!

Would highly recommend this stay, the owners made us feel very welcome for our Christmas stay with a lovely welcome package the children loved it.

The cottage was amazing really comfortable, welcome pack, when you arrived(nice touch) the views were great, great place for a good walk so many things to see the grandchildren loved it, there was everything you could want at the cottage, everybody loved the hot tub we will certainly be coming back.

Great location and view from the hot tub.

Facilities were all there as listed, apart from internet access but that was a blessing in disguise

I had booked this property for a surprise 30th birthday weekend for my friend for this weekend just gone.

We wanted a place where we could host a girls weekend with food, drinks and fun. I can honestly say that this property blew us away! The views are absolutely breath taking, the property itself is so spacious, comfortable and homely - the pictures on the site really do not do it justice! The hot tub is a massive added bonus - again very spacious, fitting everyone in comfortably - again we were blown away on friday night, drinking in the hot tub with a sky full of stars overhead, it was truly perfect. The owners, Julie and Gareth, are also so welcoming. On arrival there was a welcome basket with their local produce which we thought was such a kind touch. Gareth came around to check on the hot tub and recommended some pubs for us to try (Have to also recommend "The Forest Inn" which was about 20 minutes drive from the property - food and service there was also outstanding!) They are very relaxed owners and even allowed us a later check out time due to the property being empty the next day. We would definitely recommend this property for any group of friends or family that wants to escape to the country and get totally lost in each others company and have a total break from the outside world. When we first arrived and realised there was no wifi, we were a bit unsure of being cut off from the outside world. However, we really enjoyed the break away from it all! And if you really needed to use your phone, the majority of windowsills picked up signal and outside on the decking area, there was plenty of signal for phone calls. Thank you Julie and Gareth for lending us your property for a weekend full of fun and memories - we definitely want to come back in the future!

The cottage was lovely and well equipped, it was clean and there were games and books for the children.
