“Really great time at this cottage.”

Great property, everything needed there. Pool and paddock excellent. Weather not the best, but grandson loved watching the birds in the garden. Local village has an excellent butchers, water falls a nice little trip too. Phil and Erica were around if needed, thanks for the stay, Richie, Jewels, Hudson and Snowy.

“The property was clean and tidy with plenty of cups, plates and cutlery.”

The property is very spacious with lots of games and information left by the host. Communication is good from the host and any questions are quickly answered. We were very lucky with the weather and had an amazing time in the pool. It was very clean and warm. We had a wonderful time, views are amazing. Plenty of seats to sit out and enjoy the weather with Mim even coming to say hello.

“Beautiful home in a gorgeous setting with very helpful hosts.”

We particularly enjoyed the well equipped kitchen - and the variety of birds at the bird feeders. We had the most glorious weather for April, and there are plenty of different places to sit outside and enjoy the sun. All in all the perfect venue for a schoolfriends catch up - and in between all the chat, lots of lovely places to visit and beautiful walks! We wouldn't hesitate to return.

“Absolutely beautiful property in a stunning and tranquil location.”

“We had the best stay ever on this amazing large cottage.”

The children especially loved the cosy living room with recliner chairs and log fire for movie nights. A well supplied kitchen with an amazing intimate viewing window onto the specially built bird feeding area was my personal highlight. Surrounding by beautiful serene hills, the local shop is a short drive away. I would highly recommend visiting the nearby waterfalls which have an excellent cafe and viewing platform. Our wonderful hosts even posted my sons special teddy bear which he accidentally left. 10 out of 10. Would definitely stay again

“This was an amazing find - the location was unbelievably breathtaking - and I live in Cornwall.”

The mountain views and fields with lambs and sheep were fabulously rural rather like the Cornish coast is with sea and sand. The property was really well kept and having a downstairs bedroom meant it was great for me and my poor old osteo-arthritic right knee whilst my nimbler friends went upstairs. There was a very grounded, inviting ambience in the cottage aided and abetted by the wood burning stove which we made use of every evening as the cold air took over from the warmer day at this time of the year - late March 2026. All the rooms were well appointed and the kitchen in particular was well stocked with more than sufficient crockery and cutlery and the lounge area had a large TV with easy to access apps. The garden front and back was not at its best given it is still waiting for spring but again a very restorative impact for our morning coffee and I could see the bones of what would become as beautiful as the property photos. In fact, as a gardener, I would quite happily potter in it too. We travelled out both full days and ate out too and the cottage is within easy distance of sights - we went to Lake Vyrnwy and had a tasty lunch in the hotel there, and Pistyll Rhaeadr - and I was grateful, as were my friends, that I'm used to narrow single lane roads with passing places! I highly recommend The Wynnstay Inn too and there are a handful of places with Wynnstay in the name so ... check which one if you book for lunch/dinner. Erica was great at e-mailing responses to a few questions and Phil was always on hand on site. I hope to influence my old college buddies to do it all again next year.....

“Lovely large cottage for an away from it all, restful break.”

Exceptionally well equipped (although an extra frying pan would be welcome), very comfortable sofas & beds & a quality large TV. I can highly recommend it. Beautifully decorated for Xmas & the welcome gift of prosecco & chocolates was very much appreciated. It was lovely to have a log fire in the evenings while watching TV & seeing all the beautiful birds feasting at the bird feeder in the garden. Friendly & helpful owners owners next door if needed, but total privacy otherwise. There were a few niggles, which is why I couldn't rate it as totally 5 star. I had requested that the twin beds be made as one, which had been forgotten. The downstairs bedroom is unusable for anyone who suffers from asthma & I suffered a bit at night in the bedroom above. (There were no issues with allergies in the rest of the house). Also we were woken in the morning by knocking pipes in this bedroom, when the central heating kicked in. The property is very difficult to find in the dark. As the cottage is set back from the road, I would recommend showing an image of the house opposite in the directions to indicate arrival at the stone driveway, & maybe a bigger sign. The weather was terrible during our stay but it didn't spoil our enjoyment, as the cottage was like a home from home. I would definitely stay again if in the area in the future.

“We absolutely loved our stay in Rhydygaled.”

The cottage was comfy and cosy but really spacious and has been kitted out and decorated really thoughtfully. I also loved the incredibly well-equipped kitchen. I was able to bake, no problem - crumbles, bread and cake. It was also great to stay somewhere that had genuinely enough tableware and cutlery for a larger family, without having to constantly be washing up. The modernisations to the cottage are excellent - showers and bathrooms are great with funky mirror lights that made me feel like a Jedi (switching them on by waving!) and the TV bed in the master bedroom was an excellent surprise. We all enjoyed watching the birds at the bird feeder and spotting owls in the evenings. The pool was amazing, especially in the hot weather and we all enjoyed meeting sweet little Mim, the resident cat, whose meow and loud purr will stay with us. The stash of games was really appreciated as well - we played a number of games of the Simpsons Cluedo and The Game of Life and our kids enjoyed playing chess. I can’t overstate how gorgeous the views are at the property or how peaceful it is. The drives down the narrow lanes were absolutely worth it and we wouldn’t hesitate to book again in the future.

“Beautiful property with every conceivable item a family could need for cooking, relaxing and to .”

Ake a perfect stay. Pool towels were provided, beautiful hand & bath towels and bedding make for a very comfortable stay. The pool is a fabulous addition, as it is heated we were able to use despite the changing weather. The selection of seating areas, indoors and outdoors along with birds that are attracted to the stunning gardens make it a peaceful, relaxing retreat Erica and Phil are excellent hosts, they are on hand if needed but totally unobtrusive too, and are super helpful and friendly, the perfect balance. We would love to return and definitely recommend a stay at Rhydygaled. Thank you for a lovely stay and thoughtful extras.

“Lovely hosts and lovely location!”

The house was very cosy and rooms were all clean and good sizes. The kitchen had everything you could want and more. Would definitely stay here again and would recommend. The only improvement I could say is some areas in the living room and dining room were a bit messy and we found a few things from the previous guests.

“The cottage is lovely - very comfortable, spacious and well equipped in the kitchen and for leisure activities.”

We loved watching the birds on the feeders through the kitchen window. The owners are next door, so handy for any questions or problems. The rooms were generally clean but there were cobwebs on every light fitting, and dead spiders and cobwebs in the corners of rooms. There's plenty of sightseeing in the local area for a week's visit. It would have been nice to know that the only access to the cottage is along single-track, dark, muddy roads, so not suitable for walking along, especially at night.

The views from the house are beautiful and the garden is lovely. The weather was so warm that one night I sat outside listening to the owls and looking at the moon and stars until one in the morning, I even saw the international space station fly over. “Such a lovely place to stay, home from home, unbelievably well equiped and just so comfy.”

Great location for exploring local waterfalls and lakes, lovely setting... just looking out the windows was amazing as the views and location is stunning. I took my family and my mom and sister came too for one day and night, so we had 8 in total. There was plenty of sleeping room, the cottage was cosy and warm. We ate round the table together and I loved the kitchen which had everything you would need and more. Am sure in the summer it is lovely sitting out round the pool, we had a couple of sunny mornings and sat out the front with a brew which was great. The communication from the hosts on the lead up to our stay was fabulous too, which helps when you haven't been somewhere before. Loved it and would love to go back!

“Lovely property in a quiet, remote location.”

Everything we needed and more in the kitchen. Lovely touches around the cottage e.g. blankets, shampoo, moisturiser etc. We didnt make use of the garden due to the weather but plenty of outdoor space, and our dog was shattered every night!! Would definitely recommend a stay here!

“This is just the perfect rural cottage getaway!”

We could easily have spent the whole time just inside the huge house. The kids loved it. As it was raining outside for most of our stay, we didn't even get to explore much of the garden and surrounding area. The cottage was perfect for our family having four bedrooms and three bathrooms. We would definitely recommend a stay here. “Wonderful cottage with gorgeous heated pool!”

Kitchen fully equipped, plenty of space and nice dining area for evening meals. Living room is lovely and cosy, nice layout so the sofas all sit in a semi circle facing the Tv. Lots of dvds, games, and a wii to keep everyone entertained! Beds really comfy and nice big bath in main bathroom. The roads are very narrow for last couple of miles towards the property, however we never met anyone coming the other way so wasn’t an issue, seems to be quiet! Phil was really helpful and showed us a nice walking route from the house. Nearby waterfall definitely worth a visit. Pool is lovely, once you are in and swimming you can definitely tell it’s heated. Nice garden to relax in and big driveway that would easily fit 5 cars. Quite out the way so need to drive around 20-30 mins before you reach places of interest. A nice away from it all feel!

The pool and garden are a brilliant set up and the cottage is cosy with everything you could want/need for a break away. I can't complain about anything and would definitely recommend.

“Where to begin .”

.. this cottage is amazing by far one of the best I have been to but it is a cottage - expect low ceilings, wooden beams , flowers at every corner, birds in the morning etc There is heated flooring in the down stairs bathroom and lots of modern technology in this cottage which is really handy especially if your someone that values your time as a busy family we love music and not having to faff so really appreciated these little extras! The pool is great a little cold at first but you adapt and great for kids but it’s not huge so don’t expect to be swimming laps for exercise! There is wildlife I stress this because it is a beautiful place but if you don’t like bugs or nature then this is not the right place for you ! My son got bit outdoors a few times around the pool which didn’t bother him but he’s 6 now and use to been outside! We went when restrictions first opened up last year and quite frankly after working through this pandemic were really glad for the break we kept ourselves to ourselves and loved the peace and quiet this place has to offer as it’s a fair walk to the village. It gets cool here in an evening even in summer so still take a coat and been high up tends to rain a bit! We absolutely love this place and the gentleman that owns it could not be any nicer or accommodating he really is a great guy and cannot help you enough with any questions you want to ask etc The place is spotless the cleaner does a really good job and we felt really safe here! We hope to get back here sometime in the future as it is so beautiful and deserves the best of reviews!

“Fantastic cottage with great facilities and probably the best equipped cottage we have stayed in and we have stayed in a lot over the years!”

Phil and Jane's welcome email and directions could not have been more detailed and Phil able to help me over the phone when I got a bit lost. Whilst listing accurate maybe flag up steps to cottage and summer house quite steep so despite ground floor bedroom and shower room access for guests of limited mobility tricky, I had Mum 92 and brother who is a stroke survivor with us so getting in and out of cottage quite challenging, but worth it! Also lots of quirky steps up and down within the cottage. Whilst listed as isolated worth noting that access for the last few miles is single track roads and a bit daunting for nervous drivers!Phil makes it clear in welcome email but it would be nice to put it in travel to cottage information. A lovely place to get away from it all beautiful scenery absolute peace and quiet with all mod cons in the cottage and added bonus of heated pool that we were in every day and bbq deck also well used throughout the week. A great week with great owners thank you for everything!

Owners very friendly and attentive. We were a group of 7 and the cottage was really great, beds comfy and facilities very good. The outdoor pool is lovely and completely private during your stay. Countryside gorgeous and just a blissful place to stay. Everything you need is there. Highly recommend

Rhydygaled, a wonderful, detached cottage is tucked away in a secluded location near the village of Llanrhaeadr-ym-Mochnant, boasting three acres of grounds and garden, plus four acres of paddocks. Offering a home-away-from-home where families can enjoy spending quality time together, this retreat is the perfect base to return to each day. Relax in the homely lounge in front of the inglenook fireplace, which houses a log burner to warm those cooler evenings.

Exposed beams add a charming feel to the property, and the sense of character continues over to the beautiful dining room. The back entrance hallway is most inviting, with its feature window welcoming natural light inside.

This leads conveniently to a contemporary ground floor shower room/toilet and access to a large boot/cloakroom, ideal when returning from walks.

A contemporary kitchen and a utility area complete the arrangement. The downstairs also benefits from a ground floor king-size bedroom with wood burner and easy access to shower room and toilet.

Take the stairs up to the diverse mix of rooms, where you will be spoilt for choice come nighttime; one bedroom with king-size bed and en-suite, one bedroom which can be changed from super-king-size to two single beds, and one double bedroom with built-in wardrobe. Lastly, the family bathroom extends the attention to detail with its freestanding bath and stunning furnishings. Private garden to rear, overlooking the Berwyn hills and idyllic private garden to the front of the cottage where you will find the heated swimming pool, with ample patio furniture for your pleasure and even a summer house full of outdoor games for your use whilst enjoying the surroundings.

There is also a decked area for that early evening barbecue. To the right take a walk through the meadow and woodland which thrives with wildlife where you will come across the ponds (which are unfenced). Llanrhaeadr Ym Mochnant is surrounded by lovely countryside, providing walking trails for all abilities including Berwyn Ridge Walk and a trail to the summit of the waterfall. Discover lovely Lakes, Vyrnwy and Bala, Powys Castle and Gardens, medieval Shrewsbury, and Chester, not forgetting the wonderful Eryri (Snowdonia) National Park.

This pleasant village lies in the beautiful Tanat Valley at the foot of the Berwyn Mountains, only 4 miles from one of the Seven Wonders of Wales - the magnificent Pistyll Rhaeadr (240 ft high waterfall). Llanrhaeadr-ym-Mochnant was the location for the successful film, The Englishman Who Went Up A Hill But Came Down A Mountain, and more recently the film Nativity 2 starring David Tennant. The village boasts two general stores, a newsagents, a Post Office, a butchers, two pubs, one hotel, one cafe and a fish and chip shop. It is surrounded by lovely countryside, providing walking trails for all abilities including Berwyn Ridge Walk and a trail to the summit of the waterfall.
