The property

Llanfair Caereinion 1.9 miles.

The Granary is a pleasant farm stay nestled on the Jones family’s working farm in Llangyniew, Powys, where exposed stonework, red brick and timber beams sit alongside modern home comforts.

Originally a stock shed with a grain store above, this thoughtfully converted building now provides a characterful retreat with countryside views, a private courtyard and handy off-road parking, making it well suited to families or friends keen to experience rural Mid Wales.

As you arrive, the solid exterior and gravelled yard set the tone for a traditional farm setting.

Step through the door onto a mix of slate and laminate flooring and make your way into the sociable kitchen/diner, where you can prepare simple feasts, linger over leisurely breakfasts and swap stories around the table.

The adjoining sitting room offers ample seating for the whole group, with a Smart TV, books, and games on hand for relaxed evenings in or rainy-day entertainment.

Upstairs, the four carpeted bedrooms include a flexible super-king-size zip/link and three further doubles, each thoughtfully arranged with mirrors and open wardrobes or drawers so everyone has space for their belongings.

A ground-floor shower room with a walk-in shower, basin, WC and heated towel rail keeps morning routines straightforward, while the washing machine is there for tackling walking gear or children’s clothes after busy days outdoors.

Outside, the enclosed courtyard is designed with get-togethers in mind, offering a welcoming hot tub, outdoor seating and a gas barbecue so you can dine in the fresh air, watch the sky change at dusk and soak up the peaceful farm surroundings.

You may notice sheep and cattle grazing nearby, hear the occasional sounds of farm life or glimpse red kites overhead, reminders that you are staying at the heart of the countryside.

40 acres surrounding the property allows guests to roam around and take in the country air.

With nearby settlements within easy driving distance for stocking up on essentials or enjoying a meal out.

Powis Castle is a National Trust must whilst Lake Vyrnwy and Pistyll Rhaedr (Llanrhaedr Waterfall) offers a wonderfully tranquil experience of nature in the heart of Wales.

The Granary makes a great base from which to explore Llangyniew and the surrounding Mid Wales countryside.

Note: This property has a Good Housekeeping bond of £250.

About the location

LLANFAIR CAEREINION

Welshpool 8 miles.

The town of Llanfair Caereinion is built upon the site of an old Roman fort, in the valley of the River Banwy. It is a thriving town built around The Church of St Mary, with a Post Office, two supermarkets, a butcher with local meats and a selection of three different pubs. The annual Llanfair Caereinion Carnival is very popular with locals, and proceeds through the town with a full parade of floats and dancing troupes, providing a Rio carnival atmosphere. There is a river walk along the banks of the Banwy leading to an Arboretum, containing over 25 different species of British trees, an ideal place to explore before stepping back in time and jumping on the start of the narrow gauge heritage steam railway that runs 8.5 miles west to Welshpool. Welshpool nestles into the upper reaches of the picturesque Severn Valley near the border between Wales and England. This bustling market town is surrounded by rolling hills and glorious unspoilt countryside. There's a unique blend of shops offering arts & crafts, fashion & leisure, fresh produce, and quality pubs and restaurants, as well as the town centre’s restored cock fighting pit and interesting Heritage Trail. Visit the famous 13th Century Powis Castle, and the renowned Dingle Gardens. Enjoy a cruise in the summer sun along the Montgomery Canal or glorious walks and bike rides along National walking trails and the Offa’s Dyke Pathway.
