“This cottage is oh so cute.”

5 minutes walk from the pebble beach, found a different footpath to the beach everyday. Ideally situated to explore Aberystwyth to New Quay. Was able to park a skoda roomster at the opening to the 'drive' to unload and pack. If you park carefully there is room for other cars to pass. However, it was easier to park up on the main street, barely 2 minutes walk away - absolutely no problem. Very informative welcome folder - perhaps this could be left on table, had to search for it on the ...

Very informative welcome folder - perhaps this could be left on table, had to search for it on the bookshelf. The cottage was warm and cosy, kitchen well equipped. Lovely powerful electric shower. Cotton bed linen and towels lovely and fresh. King size bed a bit too firm for us - rectified by putting spare duvets under the sheet. Perhaps a topper? If you have mobility problems then not the place for you - small set of wooden spiral stairs to negotiate - I managed with dodgy knees using handrails provided. Spiral stairs need to be negotiated carefully anyway! If over 5Ft 10 be prepared to stoop through doorway. Upstairs original wooden floors are delightfully wonky - it is over 200 years old after all!! Garden a little unkempt but dogs loved it and I was secure in the fact that they couldn't escape which was more important for me. A few gaps by the back gate which a smaller dog (miniature yorkie, chihuahua size) might escape. Garden delightfully sunny. We had a whole week of welcome sunshine. Kites circle overhead. Village Premier stores provides necessities - 5 minutes walk. Llanchearon National Trust about 15 minute drive is worth a visit for riverside walks and Rocky Road Brownies. All in all super quiet location, quaint, cosy cottage, dog safe garden. The best sunsets on the beach. Easy travelling to visit places (beware 20 mph limit in towns and villages). We enjoyed our stay and would book again if we wanted to explore that coastline again. Thank you.

The property

This splendid, semi-detached cottage lies within the little village of Llanon, just a gentle stroll from the picturesque Ceredigion Heritage Coast.

Eiddwen is a delightful dwelling, perfect for a family or group of four eager to explore beautiful countryside and coastal delights.

Enter into the snug living/dining room, where you can sink into the sumptuous sofa and tune into the Smart TV, catching up on your favourite shows or finding a favourite film.

Move into the kitchen, appointed with all the neccssities required to rustle up a charming feast, which can be served at the dining table or alfresco style outside.

The enclosed garden provides a lovely spot for an evening drink, before rinsing yourself off in the shower room and taking your pick out of the bedrooms, with a king-size and twin on offer.

Wander down to the beach and spend all day building sandcastles and swimming in the sea, before settling down to enjoy a glorious sunset, as the sun dips below the horizon.

The beautiful coastline of Cardigan Bay spans in both directions from the village of Llanon linked with Wales Coast Path and harbourside towns such as Aberaeron, five miles away and New Quay, 12 miles, with a selection of eateries, cafés and ice-cream parlours to enjoy.

Head down Stryd yr Eglwys that leads to the beach and church of Llansanffraid, great for an early morning or evening walk.

There’s plenty of outdoor opportunity in the area; go wildlife spotting on boat trips from New Quay, which gives you a chance of sighting the bay’s famous dolphins, sling your hook and enjoy some river and sea fishing, or test your swing at a nearby golf course.

Aberystwyth is further north, a Victorian seaside resort boasting a traditional atmosphere, a sweeping promenade, funicular railway and a little steam railway that will take you to Devil’s Bridge, where you can see some beautiful cascading waterfalls.

Eiddwen is a heart-warming base for a memorable Welsh getaway, whatever time of year.

About the location

LLANON

Aberaeron 5 miles; Aberystwyth 11 miles.

A village steeped in the myth of Wales, with Llanon reputably being the birthplace of Non, the mother of St David, the patron saint of Wales. This historic village is situated on the main A487 that links the popular University town of Aberystwyth and the pretty Regency town of Aberaeron with its pretty, candy coloured houses lining the harbour. The village with a local shop and fish and chip shop clusters around the main road and gently slopes down to the predominantly pebble beach and the beautiful curve of Cardigan Bay with the Wales Coast Path stretching in both directions.
