“A Charming Escape with a Few Practical Quirks
We had a lovely stay at this hut!”
It was easy to find, exactly as described, and the views are absolutely stunning. Being on a working farm was a highlight; we loved being surrounded by sheep and having Highland cows right next to our door. It felt very private, and even with a second hut nearby, the new fence provides a good sense of separation.
Atmosphere: Peaceful, quiet, and surrounded by beautiful nature.
Basics Provided: The hut was stocked with essentials like salt, pepper, oil, tea, coffee, milk, and towels.
While we enjoyed our time, there are a few practicalities to consider, especially for longer stays:
Space & Weather: The hut is a "snuggle." It’s perfect for two, but with a medium dog (like our Staffy) and five days of rain, the indoor space felt very tight since we couldn't use the patio.
Kitchen & Cooking: It’s best suited for simple meals. The fridge is very small (2 shelves, fits about two cans in the freezer section), and with only a couple of small pots and a pan, we were glad we brought pre-cooked food to reheat.
Hot Water: The tank is quite small. We had to use "military-style" showers (water on, off to soap, water on to rinse) to ensure the water stayed warm and the second person definitely needs to wait for it to reheat.
Connectivity: The Wi-Fi struggled and signal in the area is poor, so we'd recommend downloading offline maps before you arrive.
Overall: We truly loved the area and the hut itself. If you are staying for a night or two -especially if the sun is shining - it is a magical spot. For longer stays, just come prepared for a "glamping" style experience!
