We had a wonderful stay at this beautiful farmhouse.

The property was peaceful, spacious and had everything we needed for a relaxing break. The hot tub was definitely the highlight — perfect for unwinding in the evenings and enjoying the peaceful surroundings. The farmhouse was clean, comfortable and well equipped, and the whole place had a lovely cosy feel. We really enjoyed our time here and would happily stay again. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a relaxing countryside getaway!

Fantastic stay at an amazing property

This property was perfect for our family weekend away.

Stunning views in really quiet location. The house was very comfortable a perfect size for 10 people. All the bedrooms & ensuites were comfortable, clean & good size. The access to a shared games room was a definite bonus. The hot tub was huge so great for a few of us to use at the same time.

Amazing place to stay!

The whole place is of high spec! Lovely welcome pack on arrival and fantastic instruction booklet. We as a group of 10 could not fault anything we loved it that much booked to stay again next year.

Brilliant staying here, good communication for arrival, lovely place and surroundings, 8 of us stayed here for the weekend.

There was plenty of room, clean and comfy beds a huge kitchen that had everything we needed. Games room and hot tub were great, will definitely be back to visit again. 10/10

It was the perfect spot for a weekend away with friends — clean, comfortable, and full of charm. The kitchen was well equipped, the beds were super comfy, and we loved relaxing in the hot tub of an evening. The location was peaceful but still close enough to local pubs and walks. Would definitely come back again!

We stayed here for Halloween weekend as a party of 9.

The house is incredible, and has been renovated to a very high standard making it feel like home, we loved all the little details acknowledging the history of the working farm. The views are beautiful and layout is perfect for lots of people, and felt like we had a lot of space. The facilities are amazing, with the most comfortable beds I've ever stayed with stunning en suites. The hot tub and games room were a great addition and well used. Huw is attentive and responds quickly, we cant wait to come back

We absolutely loved our holiday.

There was 11 of us age range of 78-4 months. Four generations and we had a fantastic time. This property is amazing. Immaculate on arrival. So spacious. Beautifully presented. Extremely well equipped. Beds are very confortable. Constant hot water. Stunning views. The hottub is brilliant as is the games room. So much fun together. Also Huw the owner is lovely.

We’ve just returned from a lovely weekend at the Shepherd’s Cottage.

The accommodation was perfect for our group of parents and children, the enclosed play area was just perfect for them, and the hot tub and games room was perfect for us! We had great communication with the owners during our stay, and our request to have stair gates put in before our arrival was fulfilled. Nothing was too much trouble for them, staying at Castellmoch Barns really felt like a home from home and we had such a lovely time. We’ll definitely be returning, thank you so much again!

Fantastic week with family of 11 at Shepherd’s cottage.

Very nice spacious, large bedrooms with huge comfy beds. Large dining kitchen area and living room. The games room which connect two of the cottages was a bonus. Of the three barns it is the one with the best views across rolling hills which can be seen from all living areas, bedrooms and of course garden and hot tub. Had one issue with hot water one night and the owner came out at ten at night to rectify. Lovely chap. Would definitely return and highly recommended.

Beautiful barn with amazing view!

Couple small maintenance issues reported but nothing that would spoil our trip.

Lots of positive feedback for this owner and property but BEWARE this is when things go well.

But when things go badly wrong it’s a different story. We arrived on Friday 6/12/24. Followed on the Saturday by storm Darragh. Electric off all weekend. No support offered by owner other than 12 tealight candles and a few logs which caused a lot of smoke. All weekend freezing, no light, no hot water, so couldn’t shower etc . no heat or cooking facilities. Couldn’t leave due to advice not to travel. No signal or WiFi so could only contact owner who lived nearby. Electric came back on Monday night but the smoke/carbon monoxide alarm woke us at 2am the house was full of fumes which was very concerning, thankfully no children or old people in the property, we had to switch off the boiler and open all the doors so freezing again. We felt very unsafe. When we asked about any sort of refund we were told no… as the storm was not Huws fault … not given even the price for the cups of tea we couldn’t make or for any of the electric or gas we couldn’t use….or the genuine distress when the alarms were going off for over half an hour…. .and as for Sykes…hand washing all around… our advice is book with someone else as we will be doing in future.

Bwthyn Y Bugail was outstanding not just for the facilities it offered but also for the amazing pastoral views from the property.

The photos in the listing capture a pleasant view but the reality is so much more. The main living areas were clean, the beds comfortable and an ensuite in every bedroom alleviated the usual difficulties which occur when 3 families gather together in one place. Thank you to all for a great staycation in a beautiful area of Wales.

Absolutely amazing holiday for all, we was a group of family and our kids.

Kids with additional needs and on spectrum. My son will not go anywhere and when we arrived he was so with drawn and I was worried made wrong choice however few hours in he was in games room playing darts the barn is massive he had his space to relax and the other kids absolutely loved it. The adults made the most out of the nights there the hot tub was amazing Huw was great he swung by checked the filters and if we needed anything there was a small blip with the oven and was sorted straight away. The cottage is lovely waking up to the sheep is lovely. The drive into the town was lovely and locals are lovely and welcoming. I would recommend this place to anyone honestly best holiday we’ve had. X

Would recommend for a great families holiday.

We booked this for a 80th birthday, so three generations of the family, and the property did not disappoint.

It is very spacious- large rooms and the en-suite bathrooms were a big bonus. Views from the patio are lovely and the dark sky meant we could stargaze in the evening. Would definitely recommend this property to any large group.

Lovely cottage ideal for a large family.

Plenty of space for the whole family inside, outside and in the huge jacuzzi. Great play areas for the grandchildren and the views from the cottage were beautiful. We were in daily contact with Huw, (owner) who was very helpful throughout our stay with places to visit and any maintenance required. The fresh hen’s eggs for sale each day was a bonus. We had a Tesco delivery the day after we arrived which was ideal.

Absolutely beautiful place, provides everything you need, stunning views.

Attended the hot tub all the time and checked we were ok. It was clean but not spotless, hoover is useless and carpets need a good clean, darent look under the sofa, tops of wardrobes dusty, this makes it a 4 not 5. Would still recommend it though, there was 11 of us and we all loved it and sad to leave.

Shepherds cottage was brilliant couldn't fault it in any way Huw has done a fantastic job.

My family and I had a fantastic time from 2 to 74 there was something for everyone. Would highly recommend Shepherds cottage.

We had an absolutely fabulous stay.

The house was perfect for us, with all the bathrooms and bedrooms, 11 of us from age 3 to 85. Everything we needed was there I.e kitchen utensils etc. robes were a fab touch and unexpected. Hot tub was great looking out to those fabulous views as was waking up in the morning to them. The internal courtyard park was amazing for our 3 year old as was the games room for everyone else. Only disappointment was that the dart board had seen better days and as the floor had no Matt down we did damage our darts and had to stop playing, which was a shame. If you like national trust places, there are 3 near by. Powys castle was just beautiful. We couldn’t find any walks from the house itself and had to drive everywhere, so if you’re a big walker you’d need to drive somewhere first. After saying that we did no beforehand that. The waterfall near by is a must see and drive to Barmouth for the seaside also. All in all a very nice holiday in a beautiful setting for all the family. Thank you

We had a really great weekend spent here. The barn has everything you could wish for and was spotlessly clean. The surrounding area is stunning with lots of really beautiful walks. It is remote but that’s exactly what we wanted. We will be returning.

Beautiful place!

Not the most ideal location as was quite a drive to get to anywhere even a shop! But scenery was truly beautiful! Cleaners need to clean above there eyeline! Cobwebs all over the place dusty skirting boards even the washing machine door had thick dust! Pillows could do with being renewed they are old and not very comfy… Robes well what an fab touch they were!! internet was shocking, there is no phone signal! If want to be off grid this is the place to go! We couldn’t get much access and the tv said no signal a lot of the time! Huw was extremely helpful, such a lovely guy! We would definitely consider coming back one day!

The hot tub is a great facility with views over the beautiful countryside during the day and the stars at night. Bedrooms and en-suites were lovely. A wonderful property for a large family gathering, with children and adults appreciating all that the cottage had to offer.

Of note are the superb views, the spacious rooms, the ensuite shower rooms, the hot tub, Huw`s welcome and the efficiency with which he dealt with our power problem. The only `could do better` is that cleaning under the sofas has been overlooked - we were searching for a missing toy part, not checking! And a. set of kitchen scales would be a useful addition to an otherwise fully equipped kitchen in this fabulous holiday home.

No expense appears to have been spared in creating a luxurious holiday cottage.

Agreed the weather was good which always enhances a break, but the fixtures and fittings throughout made this place outstanding.

A few minor constructive critiques if I may, the listing doesn't state that you will be sharing the central garden or games room as communal which I found a little intrusive as my time with my family is precious and private. The Games room could do with some upkeep, dartboard needs replacing, etc. Check-in Times are too late and check-out times are too early when you are paying for the day/night it feels a little like advantage was taken and losing a day waiting to check into the home.

Toddler safety swing would be useful and there was no hairdryer in the property. Otherwise all excellent and we will hope to return!

We had a wonderful weeks stay here.

Two families including 7 kids ranging from 16 to 2. The house is a great layout and has all the home comforts. We enjoyed the games room and outdoor play area. Plenty of space so we were never on top of each other. The bedrooms were great and versatile, we needed a few twins and our request was fulfilled. Lots of nice places to visit- Barmouth beach was a big hit! Huw was very helpful and always to hand if we needed him. Would highly recommend!

We have been to many cottages in Wales but by far this was the best one. The hosts were amazing, always there whenever we needed them. We felt at home. Defo a place to visit. Views, facilities, comfort, hot tub, playground, games room, bedrooms were 10/10. Highly recommend to book and stay!!

Absolutely loved our stay!

The cottage is more beautiful in person than on pictures. The hot tub was set and ready for us to use on arrival. The Kitchen was fully equipped with a massive table to accommodate all the guests. Would 100% recommend and will definitely be booking again in the future

The views at the cottage are breathtaking and the fact you can see them from the hot tub is a major bonus. Huw was so helpful with any issues and popped in most days to check in on us, even bringing fresh eggs from his chickens. We definitely hope to return!

The cottage is absolutely beautiful, there were 9 of us and we didn't at any point feel that we were on top of each other.

The games room was lots of fun, and my little boy loved the sandpit and swing. The owner was really friendly too

Perfect house for families wanting a relaxing break. There isn’t much in the village so we drove to Llangollen for the day one day and that was good. We also went to the waterfalls which was lovely. The hot tub was brilliant and the view from the house is beautiful. Can’t recommend this house enough. Thanks again.

This property is a fantastic place for a large group or two families to share.

The cottage itself was huge with all that we could have needed with plenty of space for us all. Great kitchen (where we spent most of our time), 5 lovely en suite bedrooms and absolutely awesome views across the valley. The hot tub, games room and shared play area were a huge hit with the kids we had in our party and really helped to make our week’s stay. We did attempt a couple of walks to the village which took about 40 mins so you’ll need to be prepared to drive out to go to a shop, pub etc. A really fantastic relaxing holiday - would love to return one day.

Perfect stay for an extended family or group of friends. Although wheel chair friendly - it is not set up for disalbled/ infirm. Huw the host is very accomodating. Hot tub a great facility. Had a great Christmas there.

This place is amazing!

Easy to find with a sat nav, just turn left in to the Barns instead of going up the narrow hill! East parking next to the property, access was easy with the key safe. The property was exceptionally clean as well as lovely and warm on arrival and the under floor heating was an added bonus! All the rooms are very well presented with high quality furnishings, modern features and very spacious. The only downside for me was the shower in the room at the top of the stairs, it's a great shower but the bathroom got a little wet as there's no side doors to the shower. There's plenty if seating in the lounge for the family to spend time together and we also found the sofa next to the dining table useful. The kitchen has everything you need, just ashame the hob is electric and not gas, but no big deal. The hot tob is amazing! It provides wonderful views during the day and the lights at night provide a wonderful effect! The games room is excellent. Despite the pool table getting jammed a couple of times, the owner Huw was there pretty soon after to sort the issues. Unfortunately the flights for the darts had been damaged so we were unable to play. I suggested to Huw that he purchase the darts that have a full plastic end to avoid damage. We drove to the SPAR in the local village a few times, this was a really handy to have near by. Unless you're an avid walker who doesn't mind steep hills, it's definitely a car journey! We had asda home delivery within 2 hours of arriving and this workedwell. There is a book in the property advising of local services which is also useful. We visited in December and for us it was a trip to relax and do next to nothing, but I'm sure in the summer it'd be a great base to explore nearby. We'd all love to come back here and spend some quality time together as a family in a quality property! Nobody should have any doubts about booking this property.

The property was immaculate and clean, the welcome box full of Christmas goodies was such a lovely touch.

The bedrooms were just so lovely with beautiful linen and soft white towels left in each bathroom. We all thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will definitely book again in the future. We really could not fault it and would recommend to friends and family. I would just note, I think more wine glasses are needed as there were only 4 cupboard which was not ideal for a group of 10 people. I would also note 1 Tea towel was not enough either.

My family and I were delighted with everything about this property.

The bedrooms and bathrooms were immaculate, and Huw and Caroline, the owners, couldn't have been more helpful looking after us and the hot tub! The only issue really was the WIFI (for the younger people in our group! ) but this is more a fibre optic issue and may be resolved in time. The "cottage" was really well designed and comfortable with fabulous views. It is certainly a place to return to.
