    “This was our second time staying at Conquer Hall as we love the cottage, the views from the hot tube and it has everything you need.”

    Owners are great and welcomed us with fresh eggs, flowers, tea/coffee, sugar and milk. There's is plenty of parking so perfect for our annual gatherings.

This fantastic, detached cottage sits on a quiet country lane in the village of Hendomen near Montgomery, close to the border of Mid Wales and Shropshire.

Conquer Hall offers stunning views out towards Montgomery Castle and the surrounding countryside and boasts spacious and newly refurbished accommodation for a group of family or friends wanting to explore Mid Wales and the surrounding Shropshire Hills, while the coast and Snowdonia National Park are also accessible.

Enter this huge property into a hallway and discover the kitchen/diner with a dining table set for eight, where the whole group can gather to enjoy meals together, while the kitchen has a feature oil-fired AGA Range cooker, along with an oven and hob and fridge/freezer, plus lots of storage and work space to prep ingredients, as well as charming wooden beam ceilings and tiled flooring with underfloor heating, which can be found throughout the ground floor level of the property.

The cosy sitting room has a fantastic feature fireplace, complete with woodburning stove, with a wall mounted TV placed above, so you can relax on the huge leather corner sofa or one of two matching armchairs and enjoy your favourite shows as the woodburner heats the room.

There is a king-size double bedroom on this floor, as well as a shower room with walk-in shower, so ideal accommodation for any guests with mobility issues, while the utility room completes the layout of this floor, with a handy washing machine and tumble dryer.

The first floor of the property is split into two halves, accessed via two different staircases; from the kitchen, head upstairs to discover the master king-size double bedroom, complete with a dressing table, large wardrobe to store your belongings and lovely views of the castle on the hill, a twin room with a choice of single or double bed and a contemporary shower room suite, while the other side of the property is accessed via the entrance hall and leads to a king-size double bedroom and family bathroom with bath and separate shower cubicle.

Outside, you will find ample off-road parking on the gravel driveway, as well as a large, enclosed back garden with a patio, furniture and a hot tub, plus steps up to the lawn where you'll be able to enjoy the incredible countryside views which surround the property.

The town of Montgomery is just over a mile away from the cottage, where you'll find a selection of shops, pubs and restaurants, as well as its Norman castle ruins, Medieval town walls and fascinating Old Bell Museum.

Welshpool is slightly further afield, where you can explore the Llyn Coed y Dinas nature reserve, the National Trust-owned Powis Castle and why not take a ride on the Welshpool & Llanfair Light Railway to enjoy the picturesque rural scenery?

The market town of Bishop's Castle rests on the fringes of the Shropshire Hills AONB, your gateway into the incredible countryside that offers many walking and cycling trails, with stand out routs including the moorland of Carding Mill Valley and the Long Mynd and the Offa's Dyke Path national trail.

Enjoy riverside strolls along the nearby River Severn, and hop in a car towards the spectacular Snowdonia National Park, or the lovely beaches along the coast of West Wales around Cardigan Bay.

You will not be short of things to do amidst spectacular scenery with a stay at this wonderful holiday cottage.

The town of Montgomery sits just one mile from the border of England in Mid Wales. Popular with tourists, the town has a delightful selection of individual shops and a variety of pubs and restaurants, including the Michelin star restaurant, The Checkers, a fabulous way to make your holiday truly special. Pay a visit to the ruins of the 13th century Montgomery Castle, which enjoys beautiful views over the town’s timber-framed houses and cobbled streets, and beyond across Wales. The castle also hosts productions of touring theatre groups regularly during the summer. A few miles to the south is the historic market town of Bishop's Castle, an excellent place for a day or night out with its excellent pubs, live music and festivals throughout the year. The wider area is wonderful for walking and there are many cycle routes in the surrounding countryside with varying levels of difficulty. You can venture further into Wales with a drive up to the Snowdonia National Park, or directly west to Cardigan Bay, for the day, or hop back over the border and explore the Shropshire Hills AONB. A charming destination for a holiday.
