Bryncyn is a rustic retreat tucked away in the characterful coastal town of Newport, Pembrokeshire, offering a wonderfully relaxed home-from-home for families or groups of friends.
If you’re searching for a bolthole with charm, an incredible coastal setting and some of Wales’ best birdwatching right on your doorstep, this traditional getaway fits the bill perfectly.
Inside, the living/dining room provides a warm, unfussy space to kick back after a day exploring cliffs, beaches and riverbanks.
The well-equipped kitchen has everything needed for simple suppers or hearty breakfasts before heading out on your next adventure.
The property features three bedrooms in total.
Two of them are interconnected, creating an ideal family suite: a double bedroom accessed through a room furnished with a bunk bed and a single bed.
At the opposite end of the property, there is a separate double bedroom.
The layout is served by a main bathroom with bath and shower over, plus a separate shower room, making it easy for everyone to get ready without queues.
A handy boot room and utility space give you somewhere to stow sandy shoes, wet coats or muddy walking gear after a day outdoors.
Outside, the enclosed garden offers a private spot for alfresco dining or simply sitting back and listening to the countryside drift in.
With off-road parking for three cars, arrivals and day trips are refreshingly simple.
Newport’s welcoming pubs, independent shops and cafés are all within easy reach, while the river, perfect for peaceful strolls and fabulous birdwatching, is just moments away.
The Pembrokeshire Coast Path winds nearby, offering spectacular scenery and routes for everything from gentle ambles to adventurous hikes.
Beaches like Newport Sands and hidden coves dotted along the shoreline are easily explored too.
Within a short walk along the coastal path, you will be at Newport Beach, a brilliant spot for family-friendly adventures.
Its wide sands and gentle waters make it an unbeatable spot for classic bucket-and-spade fun.
Head in the other direction along the estuary and you'll reach The Parrog Harbour, a similar distance away, where kids can enjoy a crabbing when the tides in.
On most tides, you can even launch canoes and paddleboards right from the cottage!
Explore upriver to secret bird-watching spots or head out to sea for a true coastal exploration.
Golf enthusiasts will love that Newport Golf Club is also within walking distance along the coastal path, offering a scenic round to tee off to with spectacular views.

Bryncyn was an amazing cottage, and with so much history too.
The layout of the cottage is all on one floor, and with three bedrooms big enough for families. I stayed with a close friend and our two very precocious chihuahuas, and we absolutely loved it. We went for walks to the sea every day even in the drizzle, and in the late afternoons cooked delicious meals in the kitchen. This cottage is truly heavenly to stay in. The stars of the cottage are the two huge windows in the front room that give you a massive picturesque live view of the estuary next to the cottage, who needs television with these incredible views, especially the dance in sky by the huge flocks of birds over the water every evening. My only gripes are that when we arrived, I had to clean and wash the bathrooms (I had to use kitchen cleaner to wash the sinks, showers and bath as there was no bathroom cleaner) and all the kitchen surfaces as they were quite dirty, as was the fridge too. I also had to vacuum all the floors in the entire cottage as there was sand, dust and detritus all over each floor and under every rug. I was under the impression that a cleaner came before we checked in, it must have been their day off. Another thing is that there is not enough "kitchenalia" to work with, myself and my friend are avid cooks and we could have done with a sharp chef's knife, and a metal cooking spoon and spatula. There was also no metal scourers to wash the oven trays and pots and pans too, so a lot of soaking was needed. Apart from all of this, we had a thoroughly enjoyable holiday at Bryncyn and are now thinking of booking two weeks for the autumn next year, as a one week stay was not enough to see everything we wanted to visit. Thank you for letting us stay in your cottage and hopefully see you next year again.
Bryncyn is in a beautiful location with wonderful views from the dual aspect big picture windows.
The kitchen retains its rustic charm whilst still having all you need. The entrance porch is large and airy allowing space to remove and store coats and boots. The artwork on the walls is original and reflects the local area. The beds were comfy and have good views. The outside space is large and enclosed, so our dog was able to run free. In short, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will return!
