). The location is stunning, we would wake up to birdsong and frolicking lambs, enjoyed the local sights and relaxed in the hot tub for some star gazing star gazing at night. The perfect relaxing getaway! Particular highlights - en suites in every room was super handy for our large group, extra fridge space and well equipped kitchen made cooking for 11 nice and easy, and the info booklet was a nice touch!

The property

Godre'r Gyrn is an exquisitely restored listed barn conversion in Llansilin, Powys, framed by sweeping hills and tranquil countryside for a true sense of escape.

Ideal for families or friends seeking a refined rural retreat, this five-tick property combines timeless character with modern sophistication.

Six en-suite bedrooms provide flexibility and comfort, including a master with its own bathroom; five are super-king-size, three with zip/link options, and the sixth a twin that can convert to a king.

The reverse-level design maximises the views, with an open-plan kitchen, dining area, and sitting space on the first-floor mezzanine, where exposed beams and thoughtful furnishings create a welcoming hub for relaxed gatherings.

A well-equipped kitchen and utility room ensure convenience, while the ground-floor sitting room, complete with log burner, offers a cosy spot for unwinding after a day exploring.

Outside, an enclosed garden with patio, lawn, and seating sets the scene for alfresco moments, and the hot tub adds a luxurious touch.

Despite its peaceful setting, the property is well placed for memorable days out: discover Oswestry’s historic market and hillforts, Llangollen’s iconic Pontcysyllte Aqueduct and heritage railway, or Llanymynech’s scenic nature reserves and golf course.

With its blend of character, space, and spectacular surroundings, Godre'r Gyrn promises an unforgettable Welsh getaway.

About the location

LLANSILIN

Llanhaeadr-ym-Mochnant 6 miles; Oswestry 6 miles; Shrewsbury 24 miles.

Llansilin is an attractive, rural village which stands between the ancient English border town of Oswestry, and the Welsh village of Llanhaeadr-ym-Mochnant, home to Pistyll Rhaeadr, the UK’s highest single drop waterfall. The sleepy village of Llansilin boasts a pub, a small community shop and the 13th century St. Silin Church, but is well known for being the main location of the successful 1995 film “The Englishman Who Went Up A Hill But Came Down A Mountain”, as well as being the home of Sycharth, which was the site of Owain Glyndwr’s 14th century castle. The whole area is surrounded by lovely countryside, which extends into the Berwyn Mountain Range - perfect for wonderful scenic walks and cycle trails, including along the Berwyn Ridge Pathway, the Offa’s Dyke Path and through the beautiful Ceiriog Valley, known as “The Valley of Poets”. Visit the riverside town of Llangollen with the nearby Pontcysylle Aqueduct, a World Heritage Site, Chirk and Powis Castles, Erddig and Attingham Park, or visit the nearby market town of Ellesmere, once described by Alan Bennet as ‘Shropshire’s Lake District’. Further afield lies the Welsh mountains and coast and picturesque Lakes Vyrnwy and Bala, while the World Heritage Site of Ironbridge, Medieval Shrewsbury and Roman Chester are also within easy driving distance. Llansilin is an ideal base for exploring Mid Wales, Shropshire and beyond.
