The property

Gwyn Studio sits quietly on the ground floor, a pet-friendly retreat tucked within the rolling greenery of Aberdare.

Designed with friends or couples in mind, this countryside hideaway offers underfloor heating, Sky TV with movies and sport, and a small gym for those who like to stay active.

Surrounded by fifteen private acres near the edge of Bannau Brycheiniog National Park, the studio is embraced by the soft murmur of the river and the rustling canopy above.

Arrival is simple thanks to a dedicated off-road parking space, and the communal garden—with its inviting outdoor seating—offers a tranquil spot to pause and take in the fresh valley air before stepping inside. The front door opens into a flowing open-plan space, where wooden flooring leads you through the heart of the studio and a rustic stone wall adds a tactile warmth to the interior.

The kitchen is thoughtfully arranged, ready for anything from a quick snack to a hearty supper.

Whether you're brewing tea or preparing something more ambitious on the induction hob, the space feels intuitive and welcoming.

As dinner simmers, the dining table becomes a natural hub for conversation, softly lit and relaxed. After a day spent exploring the valleys, the sitting area invites you to sink into its plush seating and unwind—perhaps with a film, a match, or simply a quiet moment and a book.

Underfloor heating keeps the space comfortable throughout the seasons, making it a restful base whatever the weather. When night falls, twin beds tucked into a peaceful corner promise uninterrupted sleep.

The adjoining shower room offers a walk-in shower, basin and WC—ideal for refreshing after a countryside ramble or before settling in for the evening. Step outside and let the garden draw you in.

As the morning mist lifts, sip your coffee to a soundtrack of birdsong.

In the evening, the scent of damp earth and the fading light pair perfectly with a crisp glass in hand.

The small on-site gym provides a chance to stretch and recharge before the next adventure. A short walk brings you to the local shop and a welcoming pub, while the nearby stream offers a gentle route for a reflective wander. Gwyn Studio offers a peaceful, well-placed base for discovering the natural beauty and cultural heritage of Rhondda Cynon Taf and beyond.

About the location

ABERDARE

Mountain Ash 4.7 miles; Merthyr Tydfil 7.8 miles; Glynneath 8.4 miles.

Aberdare is a town in the Cyon Valley area of Rhondda Cyon Taf, Wales, which dates from the middle ages. During the 19th century it became a thriving industrial settlement, which was also notable for the vitality of its cultural life and as an important publishing centre. By the middle of the 15th century, the town contained a water mill in addition to a number of thatched cottages, of which no evidence remains. The original parish church of St John the Baptist was originally built in 1189. Some of its original architecture is still intact. Aberdare is home to a number of parks including Dare Valley Country Park which is all set in 500 acres of the beautiful Welsh countryside and has plenty to offer, from walks to outdoor activities to local pubs for some lovely home made food. Aberdare also has a famous indoor market with a range of stalls, from antique shops to fruit and veg to Welsh cakes to clothing. It is an important part of this town's shopping culture.
