The property

Gatekeepers Cottage is an inviting retreat set in the village of Myddfai near Llandovery in Carmarthenshire, offering a characterful escape for couples, families and friends.

Forming part of King Charles’s former Welsh estate, the cottage enjoys an enclosed garden and off‑road parking, creating a welcoming base within a setting rich in heritage.

Arrival brings you into a peaceful courtyard, where a short walk leads to the cottage, framed by rolling Carmarthenshire countryside and estate land once linked to a relative of Anne Boleyn, with views towards an 18th‑century country park edged by ancient woodland.

Inside, a tiled entrance hall provides space to set aside coats and bags before opening into a bright sitting room, where a sofa and armchairs rest on a patterned rug, offering a relaxed place to unwind after time outdoors, shaped by comfort and a subtle sense of history.

The adjoining kitchen, finished with tiled floors and wooden worktops, lends itself to unhurried cooking, whether preparing breakfast before exploring the estate or sharing supper around the dining table as evening settles across the courtyard.

Upstairs, a bathroom with both a rainfall shower and a bath offers flexibility, while two double bedrooms provide generous, welcoming spaces to return to at the end of the day.

Outside once more, the enclosed garden creates a quiet spot to pause, while beyond the courtyard the Llwynywermod estate opens into wildflower meadows, traditionally farmed fields and tranquil woodland paths, all managed without pesticides and guided by nature‑led practices.

Guests are welcome to explore the estate’s walled garden with its conservatory and separate sun room, and optional experiences such as yoga, reiki, foraging and guided walks offer a gentle way to connect with the land, with a shop and pub also within easy reach for everyday essentials.

Gatekeepers Cottage offers a memorable opportunity to slow the pace and experience the enduring character of one of Wales’s most storied estates.

Note: This can be booked with refs. 1181896, and 1181898, together sleeping 14 guests.
