“We had a really lovely stay in a beautiful home thank you.”

The kitchen is very well equipped as is the rest of the home. There is a nice conservatory and garden , with produce we were welcome to use. We watered the garden every evening as it was so very hot . Beautiful beaches nearby, our spaniel particularly liked Norton beach as it allows dogs, a huge expanse of lovely beach to run about on. We really liked Cowbridge for its lovely Individual shops and free parking!! Something you don’t see in Essex. We hope to come back again one day thank you for ...

The property

Ty Traeth is a delightful coastal retreat resting in Porthcawl, Bridgend, perfectly suited to larger families and groups seeking time by the sea.

With private parking for six cars, a generous enclosed garden, a balcony, and an impressive collection of social spaces, this spacious holiday home provides a wonderful setting for gathering together and making the most of South Wales' spectacular coastline.

From the moment you arrive, the property has an easy-going holiday feel.

The spacious kitchen/diner acts as the heart of the home, where plans for the day can be made over leisurely breakfasts before everyone heads off in different directions.

Later, gather back together for evening meals and stories of beach adventures.

The sitting room, centred around a woodburning stove, offers an inviting place to spend time as a group, whilst the conservatory provides a bright and airy space overlooking the garden.

Families are particularly well catered for, with a dedicated playroom giving younger guests a place of their own, while the snug with a sofa bed offers additional flexibility for larger parties.

Outside, the enclosed garden creates another social hub, with a lawn for games, a patio for alfresco dining, and a swing sure to be a hit with younger visitors.

For those planning active days outdoors, the secure triple garage is a real asset, offering extensive storage for surfboards, bikes, and other adventure gear, making Ty Traeth an excellent choice for outdoor enthusiasts.

One of the property's standout features is its enviable location close to Rest Bay, one of South Wales' most celebrated beaches.

A pleasant walk brings you to the Blue Flag shoreline, where golden sands, fascinating rock pools, and rolling waves attract surfers, families, and dog walkers throughout the year.

Rest Bay Surf School offers surf lessons alongside paddleboard, kayak, and surfboard hire, making it easy to embrace life on the water.

Afterwards, enjoy a drink or bite to eat at the striking glass-fronted Rest Bay Café, where elevated views across the beach provide the perfect backdrop.

The Wales Coast Path is also within easy reach, allowing guests to follow the scenic boardwalk stretching along the shoreline before continuing towards Sker Point, a spectacular vantage point with panoramic views across the Bristol Channel towards Swansea.

Closer to home, Locks Common offers open grassy headland ideal for dog walking, family strolls, and soaking up the sea air.

Head into Porthcawl itself via the promenade, enjoying sweeping coastal views along the way.

The town offers all the charm of a traditional Welsh seaside resort, from ice creams at the much-loved Fablas to seasonal highlights including the famous Elvis Festival, the Porthcawl Ten Kilometre event, and the summer fireworks displays that illuminate Sandy Bay each week during the school holidays.

The surrounding coastline is equally rewarding.

Newton Beach welcomes dogs throughout the year and provides beautiful walks towards the Ogmore Estuary, while nearby Ogmore-by-Sea and Southerndown showcase some of the finest scenery along the Glamorgan Heritage Coast.

Golfers are spoilt for choice with Royal Porthcawl Golf Club, Pyle & Kenfig Golf Club, and Grove Golf Club all nearby, whilst those seeking bigger adventures can spend a day exploring the breathtaking beaches of the Gower Peninsula or tackling the renowned trails of BikePark Wales.

However you choose to fill your days, Ty Traeth offers an exceptional base for discovering the very best of the South Wales coast.
