Sea Rose

Sea Rose was comfortable and had everything we needed, and a good location, but there was a musty smell upon entering, which comes from the cupboard by the front door, also the oven needs a deep clean, and baking trays and frying pans need replacing, plus the patio needed a de weeding, which to be honest wouldn't take that long and make it a more pleasurable area to sit in.

Firstly when trying to find the cottage be aware that satnav doesn’t take you there but to a house down the road, luckily the resident told us this always happens as they have the same postcode and redirected us.

The entry to the site has no name or any indication as to where you are going. Entering Sea Rose, everything looked good but after reading previous reviews I checked out the kitchen. There were four odd mugs in the cupboard and all were badly stained inside. This took me a couple minutes with a cleaning pad to clean before we used them. Mugs are cheap, matching would be nice and they should have been checked by the cleaner. Dishes in the cupboard were also left with residue of food. I only cleaned what I needed. Upstairs the bedrooms were nice but no available sockets in double room if you wanted lamps on and only one in single room. The hangers in wardrobe were dirty and single room had no wardrobe or drawers. The bathroom was nice but the skirting and radiator was thick with dust. We had a problem with the shower it was scalding hot and couldn’t be used. I called owner but was redirected to Sykes and WhatsApp. I was told an agent would be in touch when available, almost two days later a plumber came and rectified problem. The patio area was a lovely place to sit but overrun with weeds coming through slabs. The hydrangeas at front door were pretty but covered half of the living room and kitchen windows and we were unable to open the windows because of this. The surrounding cottages looked nice and well maintained but the two large buildings were run down and closed up.

On arrival we were disappointed by a patio full of weeds and the gate was difficult to open and steps dangerous.

Disappointing WiFi connection, which was rectified by the owner coming out 2 days later with a new router. Bathroom door didn’t lock and the shower was burning hot. Lack of hot water and had to find out how to boost system from where it was in a bedroom wardrobe. In the twin bedroom there was no cupboards, had to live out of suitcases. Had to move microwave as too high too use on top of the fridge. Was a quiet complex of cottages, so that was good.

On arrival - spotted the kettle was green with algae and spots of bacteria - this was replaced with permission.

Electrical items according to their labels are 2 years out of date for PAT testing. Black mould - large patches in living area and both bedrooms. Mould on back of drawer unit in bedroom. Claimed that the property had been deep cleaned - I have photos that prove otherwise. I also have receipts dated February found under beds. Kitchen dirty. Pots, pans and some cutlery unusable. Clearly had not been cleaned eg rust/dirt falling off wok. Oven dirty with baked on food particularly at the joints and rusty and so unusable. Dirt between fridge freezer and units. No info re hot water - had to Google re using Boost to get it hot enough to use. Shower bar is fixed upside down and so without knowing if water is hot someone could be scalded A full white and black bag was already in the bin on arrival. There was no supply of white bags and so had to place items in the bin unbagged. No welcome pack as promised in the information book. No information in the book - caretaker’s contact number crossed out Furnishings were nice WiFi worked fine No lighting in common area - it gets very dark. I had continued with the booking thinking that those issues previously raised would have been addressed. Sadly not. I shall be pursuing this further as the cottage fell woefully short of the description. I have booked a different place with a different agency for next year’s visit.

On arrival at sea rose cottage, there hadn't been anyone to clean the cottage out, which wasn't nice to see on my arrival.

I rang the number got no answer, but left a voice message explaining my concern. Called me back and apologised and in half an hour they sent a cleaner out, with complementarys , which was really nice. Over all we enjoyed our stay, plenty of places to go, great food, lovely people. The only fault was the wi fi connection, the cleaner said he did fix it, when he emailed me, the rooter was flashing to say it was working, but we still couldn't get any wi fi connection. Something the owner's need to look at to address. But overall it was a great stay. Thank you.

outside side area needed tidying up. bedding could of been better.

Kitchen was stocked with bread, butter, milk and jam, which was lovely but there was NO tea or coffee.

However, given how dirty some of the mugs were, that probably wasn't a bad thing. There were also dirty trays left in the oven and drawer. Rest of cottage was clean thankfully. However, frustrating as limited power points, and no shaver socket in bathroom for toothbrush. Bedroom door handle/latch was very stiff and hard to open. Shower temperature dial was also VERY stiff. It was stuck on boiling hot for ages and took two hands and a lot of effort to turn to a cooler temperature (and I'm young and fit!). No lights in car park: making it difficult when days are so short. I was very glad to leave!

The cottage was clean and well equipped.

Easy to find and in a quiet location.

We arrived to a musty smell around the house the out side looked unkempt and the bin out front wasn't emptied we had a nice welcome pack thankyou for that we only managed a four day stay as we found it very cold at night the electric fire did work but the heat mainly went up the stairs the radiator only heated two bars so now the weather going colder not very good the tv continually kept losing the WiFi so a bit annoying when watching a programme the only real warm place was the bedroom aberporth itself was lovely such a lovely bay good we had a few dry days to enjoy going out I think this place needs a bit of tlc

We were a party of 3 adults (and 2 dogs).

We all repeatedly commented on how impressed we were with the overall quality of the cottage, which was clean, tidy and suited us to a tee. Facilities-wise, while the wi-fi signal was a little unpredictable at times, the tv worked well, the kitchen facilities were excellent, and the shower was just perfect. Also, although we were lucky with the weather, the patio that trapped the early autumn sunshine at breakfast time, made for a brilliant start to each day. The dogs had a great time too!!! :-) Thank you to the owner and everyone at Sykes.

First impressions good, ie clean and tidy inside all though a little musty, all well equipped, the down side were plants to front of property overgrown and obscuring views, Patio a good size with tables and chairs but overrun by weeds also boarders very overgrown, all other cottages very neat and tidy, widows could also doors with cleaning, these items put right would make my revue a lot better.

Sea Rose was so much more than the pictures could show!

When we arrived it was spotlessly clean and so well presented with lovely bedding and plenty of soft towels. The rooms were so light and tastefully decorated with comfy beds and plenty of wardrobe space and drawers. The kitchen was equipped with everything you need for a few days away or even longer, and the welcome pack was a lovely touch especially as we needed to buy bread and milk.

I had a lovely stay in the cottage there was everything I expected to be there.

Grateful for the fans and I enjoyed the beaches around. The enclosed patio was lovely for my pooch. Some gardening wouldn’t go a miss the weeds on the patio were well established. It would have been a lot more pleasant to sit outside.

Nice quiet location, good parking, clean and tidy house, plenty of cooking implements, good initial holiday package with toilet rolls, nice bread, Welsh cakes, pint of milk etc.

Could do with cushions for dining chairs as very hard, couch & double bed not particularly comfy, lack of bedroom plug sockets, hot water issue with NONE on Saturday (maybe a timer issue?), poor emergency contact information for medical/dental issues, & no dining recommendations either. Outside wheelie bin was already quite full and lid open upon arrival, reduced daylight in kitchen due to bush obscuring window, WiFi very poor, and not enough 'bandwidth/power' to work I-player, Netflix or laptop, & TV prone to cutting off too. Diggers working in the field opposite bedroom window which were a little noisy, and would have been nice to have known about that beforehand?? Also, when trying to contact someone on the Saturday about the lack of hot water, I called three available numbers (it said one for owner?), but couldn't actually speak with anybody (even after being on hold for ages), and opted for the promised 'callback option', (which was never actually received!), and was then later informed by a message from Tom to "bear in mind that this isn't an instant response service, and we are open again from Monday"! Well, I suggest if the renter has an issue like No hot water or suchlike, then there should obviously be instant help available surely?? NOT GOOD, & NOT HAPPY WITH THAT!!

Lovely short stay at Sea Rose Cottage.

We were greeted with a lovely welcome pack and a clean welcoming cottage. The information booklet included everything we needed. The views and area were beautiful. We would love to stay again. Thank you. Alison, Neil and dogs

The property is Brilliant, we will go back and recommend to family and friends.

BUT we lived in Aberporth for 4 years full time and we know that there is only 1 company that can provide an Internet supply in that area and they are EE. The only negative point we had NO internet for the entire week. Not the end of the world but you do miss it.

Sea Rose is a pretty little cottage near the seaside resort of Aberporth.

We initially had a problem about getting hot water but after several messages to the owner this was resolved by using the booster switch in the airing cupboard. The cottage was attractively furnished and well equipped, and situated in the grounds of a large hotel. We had a very pleasant little garden for sitting outside. The cottage was a short drive down to the lovely beach and the friendly pub. We enjoyed our stay here.

The property was beautiful but lacked a little in the cleanliness.

We booked Sea Rose for 3 nights with our baby as a weekend away, but sadly we arrived at the property to find the heating off so it was freezing cold and took a while to warm up.

The kitchen was dirty with unwashed coffee cups, an old dirty kettle and dirty oven. Unfortunately, the property wasn’t overly clean anywhere else and when we pulled out the highchair to use it too needed a good clean. The lack of any welcome pack made using the appliances difficult and we couldn’t access the wifi, although it barely ran the tv so probably wouldn’t have managed our phones as well. The bathroom door didn’t close which didn’t matter to us but should probably be fixed. The saving grace was the location, just 5 minutes outside of Aberporth, which had a gorgeous beach, great fish and chips, and a lovely pub! We won’t be booking this cottage again sadly and actually ended up leaving after 2 nights.

Location not the best as its a fairly busy road with no pavement to walk into Aberporth and fairly steep coming back . We could have done with more info on working the Tv and what packages extra channels were available as we were unsure . Floor and some surfaces could do with more cleaning but as it was the end of the season that probably accounts for it . Towels , bedding all lovely quality and well decorated and finishing touches were lovely .Lovely welshcakes and fresh milk were appreciated .

This small house is pleasant, reasonably well furnished and best of all, in a quiet country location; a bit of a ghost village actually, and a mile inland from the sea in Aberporth.

It lies in the grounds of an expensive hotel where drinks at the bar might require a mortgage ! Unfortunately, when we arrived, a wheelie bin at the front door was overflowing with 6 or 7 weeks of rubbish stinking like a garbage dump. We complained and it was emptied 5 days later. Arriving after a 3 hour 30 minute drive to the property, we needed the loo. There was no toilet paper or kitchen roll provided. We complained and were directed to a shop which was a drive of 7 miles return. We had to buy our own loo paper and even our own salt and pepper. There were none of the normal ‘hospitality’ items - a few tea bags, coffee sachets, milk or anything else. Better introductory hospitality would only cost a pound or two. On day 1 the bathroom door jammed & could not be opened. The door lever/latch was not working. We spent 5 minutes crashing into the door to open it. Finally it gave way without damage. Since we could also have been locked into the bathroom, we stuffed a toothpick into the latch to keep it open until it is repaired. The availability of an adequate wifi signal was sporadic and slow. We could not use the catch-up TV and during the whole week I could only open my emails on my mobile phone. When it is working the internet speed is 29 Mbps. The property was devoid of instructions on e.g. the television or heating system, or when the rubbish is collected. There were no recommendations on local walks, shops or restaurants etc. (Tesco/Aldi in Cardigan). We like to keep a holiday let very clean, but there were no cleaning materials supplied. The good news is that following previous poor reviews the double bed mattress (firm) and the microwave have been replaced. Unfortunately when I removed the instructions from inside this new microwave in order to use it, they slipped down between the side of the fridge and the worktop. This does not prevent the microwave being used. Since the freezer compartment needs defrosting, when the fridge is turned off to do this, they can be retrieved. (Incidentally, when I logged in to the Sykes website, this property was not registered on my account, although 7 or 8 previous ones are still there).

Lovely clean cottage.

We had problems with the water system for the whole week. We would get hot water in the morning but nothing in the afternoon. Owners got a plumber out on Thursday 2 day before coming home they said nothing was wrong he changed the timer then we only got water in the afternoon hence we had several days of cold showers. Really not practical with a nine year old. Whole also love a folder with the history of the cottage and surrounding area.

Rose cottage was a wonderfully clean, well equipped holiday property.

It is easy to nit pick but my wife, dogs and I had a great time.

Needs double bed mattress replacing one side of mattress is very flat and has no support.

Very uncomfortable. Microwave was very rusty so unable to use. Oven had not been cleaned and was also rusty in places. Did not use due to hygiene. Under the sink in the kitchen were dirty tea towels that where going mouldy. Also had to do some weeding and sweep patio area before use. The bench was rotting so therefore could not be used. During our stay someone did come and take the bench away.

Booked three nights for two people at short notice.

The property is nicely decorated, well equipped and well situated for exploring the coastline. We liked it. The double bed urgently needs a new mattress, so we slept in the two singles instead. The picnic bench on the patio has seen better days. It would be nice to change this to enable outdoor dining. Some updated instructions regarding rubbish disposal would also be helpful.

Rubbish in bins. Dog blanket on settee. This was resolved after a few hours Double mattress is showing its age Great location and the cottage was perfect for 2 for a few days once the cleaning was sorted out
