Donna was very good at communicating, she kindly let us into the accommodation early and was very responsive to a request for a replacement light bulb. The house is well situated opposite an excellent play area which our grand daughter enjoyed and was within walking distance of shops, restaurants and beaches.
However, the house itself is tired and badly maintained, there was very little information about the house (eg recycling, heating etc) and whilst a welcome pack isn’t essential the lack of hand soap, washing up sponges and toilet rolls felt mean.
Going back through all the reviews, all of the issues we had have been mentioned before but obviously not addressed (hence my complaint to Sykes). These include: the bath appears not to have been available for years, the bedroom doors catch on the carpet so they don’t open and close easily, the TV is too high, the sofa is very uncomfortable. In addition the non stick pans were peeling, several window catches were broken, the exterior doors didn’t open and close properly, the lock on the upstairs toilet was so stiff it was unusable, there was peeling paper, the hot tub had rust patches and the area it was in needed a good clean. One of the steps onto the ‘lawn’ was loose and dangerous.
The house really needs some TLC and most of the issues could be fixed really easily but I do wonder what is the point of these reviews if they aren’t addressed.

We are genuinely sorry that parts of the property did not meet your expectations. As a family-run holiday home, we do take guest feedback seriously and appreciate issues being brought to our attention. Following your stay, many of the points raised have already been addressed, including replacing the pans, adding additional supplies such as hand soap and ,sponge, updating the house information folder and recycling guidance, cleaning the hot tub area, repairing the loose garden step, replacing the sofa, we had only received one complaint before this, (it’s a new sofa which we thought would soften overtime )and carrying out various maintenance and decorating jobs.
Some items raised are larger projects which we are continuing to plan for and improve over time, including the upstairs bath and future window replacements. The other issues, such as TV position, can naturally vary depending on personal preference, but we still value hearing guests’ opinions.
We do always encourage guests to contact us during their stay if anything needs attention, as we live nearby and will always do our best to resolve issues quickly wherever possible.
As a small family-run business, reviews do have a significant impact on us, so whilst it’s difficult to read negative comments, we do use feedback constructively to improve the experience for future guests. We always aim to provide a comfortable and affordable stay for families visiting the area, and we continuously reinvest in the property to improve the experience for future guests.
