“Mattress was collapsing- had to order a topper but for 2 nights I slept on the floor.”

“A lovely place to stay, if there are two of you.”

All utensils and bits and pieces are provided. Clean and comfortable and situated in the centre of the village. The owners were caring and helpful. Hopefully, we will return !

“We had no central heating because the controls are in the other house.”

We found the kitchen area was very cramped and limited. The rear door would not lock properly without using some force to shut it. The "relaxing "chairs were very low and not at all comfortable. It would have been nice to have a wardrobe instead of a hanging rail in the corner. However we found the bed was nice and comfortable. .

“We booked Ty Rhydd with Banc y Capel during October for a family holiday.”

It’s a lovely warm, well equipped and comfortably furnished hideaway in a very quiet spot, only 2 or 3 minutes walk to the centre of Newport where there are cafés, shops, galleries and pubs. It’s a 15 minute walk down to the beach at Parrog (with one of the loveliest views I know). A walk up Carningli behind the town is also rewarded with stunning views. The owner was great, responded quickly to any questions and was very ready to help. We had a really good week - thank you.

“We had a comfortable stay in this cosy little building in a lovely little town in a beautiful area.”

.. with free parking. We had a few (hum-drum but potentially frustrating) minor issues within our first couple of hours, but, the owners, once we were able to contact them [our signal was very very poor/patchy in the vicinity! :-( ] were very swift and efficient in sorting them out for us. Some of the previous reviews raise other issues, & the owners are clearly keen to take these comments on board & further improve guests' experience. They are very amenable & friendly. The TV offers Netflix & Amazon Prime as well as iPlayer & many stations...but we are low-tech, so couldn't get the former two to work as they required apps that we didn't have access to...so, advice regarding this for old duffers like us (no smart phones!) would be beneficial. The locality is full of super independent shops, pubs, cafes & restaurants, as well as wonderful walks in spectacular scenery. We had a lovely short break despite the predictable Feb'-like weather... :-/ ... and would recommend Ty Rydd, which is well on the way to being an exceptional little gem. :-)

“The cottage was well located, though, as we expected, extremely small but was fitted out in a quality way.”

We did feel that there were a few minor items which could have been improved on, as follows:- 1) There were no instructions, or at least we didn't find any regarding things like the TV and re-cycling (other than an outside box for glass). 2) The toilet seat worked loose during the week and kept slipping. We think this was reported by a previous occupant. 3) The kitchen would have benefited from a few additional utensils, such as kitchen scissors, tongs, a wooden spoon and cheese grater. 4) There was no mention of the regular (apparently every Monday) market nor the excellent butcher/greengrocer, which was a shame. 5) Whilst it didn't affect us (staying at the end of September) we felt that the lack of skylight blinds would be a serious problem in the May-August months so we would not consider staying there in this period. Other reviews have mentioned this. Having said this we would consider staying again (outside the months mentioned above).

Hi, thanks for your comments. We have installed electrically operated black out blinds for the roof lights and clients seem very happy with them and some additional items have been added to the Kitchen. As regards to instruction manuals, they are (and always have been) in a drawer next to the tv. Property Owner

“The property was clean and tidy and was in excellent condition through out.”

The property is in a quiet location and within easy access to the shops, pubs and restaurants. A small issue with the loose toilet seat was quickly resolved by the owner. Further observations like the loose soap tray would benefit from being fully tightened up. We got use to the lack of roof light blinds in the end but this might prove to be an irritation to some in high summer with the longer daylight hours.
