What guests are saying
We had a wonderful break, from the second we walked through the door, a lovely welcome basket of cakes and essentials, well maintained and spotlessly clean, comfy beds, a safe garden for the dogs to run around, it house itself is cosy and a short (15 mins) walk to the town where we ate at The White Horse and would highly recommend if you’re visiting, if I had to be critical which is difficult the front bedroom would benefit from a blind or darker/blackout curtains due to the street lamp outside the window but would take an eye mask when staying in the future just in case, definitely one of those little nooks that are on my list of places to revisit-Thank you.
The cottage was very nice and the beds were so comfortable.
We had a lovely welcome hamper with Biscuit's, Tea, cake, coffee and milk. The heating worked well and the cottage was soon warm. The grass was very long and was in need of a mow on arrival but was done when we returned on Saturday. The garden is dog safe for large dogs only. We have two small dogs so we kept them on lead in the garden. The cottage is located next to a road so I was worried that’s they would either go under the gate or through the fence. Overall we had a great weekend stay with some lovely sunny weather.
The accommodation had two major issues.
1. It is not dog friendly. The garden isn't secure, and dogs are not allowed on furniture or upstairs, leaving them cold tiled floors, or one tiny jute rug. 2. The place was incredibly dirty. The soft seating had food, debris, beads (a choking hazard for kids, and dangerous for dogs) between the cushions. The cushions and arms of the soft seating was also black with dirt. Other seating and all knobs, including the dishwasher, were black with fingerprints and dirt. I spilt water on the floor and mopped it up with kitchen roll to find the kitchen roll was black. There were suspicious stains on the curtains, the radiators were really dirty, lights and lamps caked in dust. We washed our hands so much they were red raw, and threw away our brand new slippers. There were other more minor issues, like no blinds in the hall and landing, meaning the street lights made it very bright at night. It was also quite tired in places. There was simply nowhere to relax, given how uncomfortable and dirty the soft seating is. This is the first time we've ever left a holiday early, but we couldn't bare it any longer.
