“Lovely historic property in a fantastic location on the edge of a great little town.”

Elevated, enclosed garden/paddock was ideal for the dog and nice walks straight out of the door were a bonus. Town and beach an easy walk as was access to the coastal path long distance walk. Kitchen was well appointed and living room and bedrooms were more than adequate for our needs. The bathroom was quite small with just a shower and could perhaps have been located in the third bedroom to give more space and perhaps a bath. What might be termed consumables were very much in short supply with only two toilet rolls, a third bottle of washing up liquid and four dishwasher tablets for a 7 night stay. Although just three of us, further supplies had to be bought. Given the history of the property it might be a nice touch to obtain some relevant prints or photographs to display on the walls. It may also be worth noting in description that access for larger vehicles may be difficult. Overall we had a great week and would certainly recommend.

Delighted you had a great week and enjoyed everything Delfryn and Newport has to offer - we love it! When we renovated Delfryn we debated shower room or bathroom and concluded shower room was best and all 5 beds are regularly used - we get very positive feedback on shower pressure! Local photos and prints and photos are already in the pipeline and should be there soon. Look forward to welcoming you back. Property Owner

The property

Delfryn is tucked away in the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park, on the edge of the picturesque coastal town of Newport.

This charming stone cottage was originally a Woollen Mill, built circa 1880 and converted into a domestic dwelling in 1920 and is located near Newport Castle.

It's perfect for families or groups of friends with its three bedrooms and original Victorian-style fireplaces, exposed stone walls and original doors and windows, in a convenient location near the coast, the Preseli Hills and the town's amenities.

Step inside where you can watch your favourite shows on the Smart TV while warming your toes by the woodburning stove in the living room while the designated cook takes care of dinner preparations.

Guests can enjoy a meal together in the dining room before making their way up the stone steps to the garden for drinks as the sun sets over Newport Sands and the sea.

After the sun has set, move back inside to use the first floor shower room, before retiring to the double, twin, or single bedrooms.

You can spend your days lounging on Newport Beach's golden sands while admiring the breath-taking views across the water or take a walk along the Pembrokeshire Coast Path, before taking in lunch at Blas at Fronlas or Tides Kitchen and Wine Bar, which are just a 2 minute walk from Delfryn.

Or for the more adventurous, just turn right out of Delfryn's front door and walk straight up Mill Lane onto the Preseli Hills and Caringli Mountain, which sits tantalisingly above your holiday base.

It's worth the short drive outside of Newport to visit Castell Henllys Iron Age Village and Pentre Ifan's remarkable 5,500 year old burial chamber.

Further north will bring you to Cardigan, the birthplace in 1176 of the Welsh Eisteddfod in Lord Rhys' Welsh castle.

From town, take up the unique opportunity of a trip out on the water to search for dolphins in Cardigan Bay.

On your return, visit the Welsh Wildlife Centre in Cilgerran which overlooks the Teifi wetland.

On your return from a busy day of exploring, finish off with a sumpuous meal at one of Newport's fine establishments such as the Golden Lion or Castle Inn.

Make cherished memories on your Pembrokeshire holiday at Delfryn.

Note: This property has a Good Housekeeping bond of £200.
