Once a thriving village created around the Welsh mining works, this charming Welsh village of Tondu still offers a pub and general stores and is easily accessed from the M4 motorway. Parc Slip Nature Reserve is nearby and is well worth a visit, not only for the insightful visitor centre and lovely coffee shop but also the 300 acres of woodland, wetlands, meadows and birdhides to discover. Take a bike ride along the Celtic Trail East and National Cycle route 4, stroll through the countryside, enjoy a picnic or try some of the other incredible mountain bike trails on offer. The beautiful Bryngarw Park, with its 113 acres and Margam Park with a stunning orangery are well worth exploring. Nearby, Bridgend with its town shops plus the popular designer outlet village provide the chance for some good retail therapy or why not venture to the designer shops in Cowbridge for something a little more special?
