“Although quite comfortable Cottage was very damp with lots of mould which you could smell.”
It was very cold downstairs and we did not wish to light the log fire as we have a small child and also its May. Quilts on beds were very hot so sweating at night and cold in the evenings downstairs! We bought blankets for the living room. We tried to cook 3 nights in a row but the oven was not adequate and the food took twice as long to cook than it should have and hob took a long time to warm. It was unclear what could be recycled in this county as no info provided. We would also have found some info on local places to eat useful. Awkward to watch tv due to placing of sofa’s and TV but unsure how this could be changed. My husband found the bed uncomfortable as he is very tall. Also door latches are tricky for smaller children.
Hard to find initially.
Owner was friendly and helped with problems - lights and sockets tripped by the toaster, they provided a new toaster and were helpful in resolving the power issue. Milk, tea, coffee and welsh cakes provided on arrival which was nice.
Nice field and play area with swings. Everything appeared to have been sanitised and covid measures were in place.
Central place and local to Haverfordwest, beaches and other areas.
Thank you for your feedback regarding your stay here in The Coach House
and I am really sorry you had problems, our prime concern is that our
guests have a lovely holiday, especially after the year we've all had!Â
but I would like to clarify the concerns you raised point by point.
Regarding the cottage being damp with mould I'd like to point out that
it is an old stone building but it has been treated for damp and does
not have mould anywhere, it is thoroughly cleaned, aired and everything
is either washed or steamed between rentals to eliminate the risk from
the virus.
It can get cold in the evenings even in the summer but the heating is
available all day if required along with the log burner and logs and
there are instructions in the information folder regarding turning
individual radiators off upstairs if necessary.
Unfortunately the quilts are a standard 10 tog although I understand
individual requirements vary.
We have now just had the oven and hob tested and they are working
properly and there are instruction books in the kitchen as we realise
not all appliances work the same.
There is a list of what can be recycled in the information folder as we
know it varies across the country, along with any changes caused by
Covid rules .
We did have a list of places to eat but the situation regarding openings
and bookings keeps changing so we send a link to the 2 main tourist
websites for up to date information in the e-mail we send before the
start dates.
I'm sorry your husband found the bed uncomfortable as he is very tall,
but it is a king sized bed with a headboard and footboard.
The doors are standard size wooden doors with metal latches in keeping
with the age of the cottage.
With regard to being hard to find, we are the only ones on the postcode
and directions are sent out with all the other information relevant to
the booking, I also tell guests to call if they have any problems
finding us.
Once again we're sorry you were disappointed with your holiday here and
didn't feel you could raise these issues with us at the time.
