Avalon

Absolutely fab as usual, back end of October, our third visit this year.

Our second visit to this property was sadly very disappointing.

Dirty underpants left in the wardrobe, numerous cobwebs, black mould on the blinds and windows in the bedroom and en suite is not acceptable. We raised this as a complaint and received a very dismissive reply from the owners. The least we expected was an apology but this was not forthcoming. We are very disappointed and will not return for a third time.

Our go to place was a property in penally which we have visited once or twice a year for the past 12 years, unfortunately the owners have now sold it,we have been searching for our new go to property since and finally we have found it at Avalon, already booked for next year.

The property was very well equipped and comfortable and was very clean, it was very close to a lovely beach.

We had a couple of minor problems which were quickly dealt with by the owners, the only thing that let the property down was the unkempt garden and the weeds in the drive and accumulation of leaves around the property

We, 4 adults and two small children, have had a lovely time staying here and the Xbox 360 was a great success.

Handy for the lovely beach and the simple solution to the problems of car park payment by phone with the app was to pay before you left Avalon where the signal was fine. The house was well appointed but why would anyone think it is a good idea to have an ensuite with no door and no privacy? The interior was spotless but the outside was not with weeds and collections of leaves by the front door and at the rear. A quick brush with a broom would have restored the appearance. This is a lovely area with castles, beaches, walks to ensure a wonderful holiday.

Lovely property with a really well equipped kitchen.

We loved the daylight from the bifold doors in the open plan downstairs area and the teenagers loved having an Xbox 360. The walks to the beach are beautiful and great for the leg muscles! Great location and lots to do in the area. Thank you

Lovely clean well equipped house.

Thank you for the things you left us and the milk was greatly received. Sue the cleaning lady left the house immaculate. You can only see the sea if you stand on tip toe over the hedge. There are woods next to the house with a public footpath which is steep and returning very steep to the beach! Large car park at the bottom of the hill which takes cash unless you have downloaded their app, which is impossible once there as there is no signal ! so take plenty of cash for the machine. Nearest shop at Lamphey petrol station a mile away which is well stocked. Jacks the beach cafe is about okay for food staff very welcoming. Previous clients had not put out the black bags which are only taken three at a time every three weeks!! Consequently six were already there and the birds had scattered rubbish everywhere three times while on our stay. I put all six out and one of mine when the bin men came but they only took three leaving once again a full load for the next clients. Owner should either make a bin box so the birds do not get in or employ someone once a week to take away the rubbish. We did not go away to clear up everyone else's I tried to get in touch with the owner but no reply. Sun goes behind the trees at 4pm leaving the garden in the shade. Micro wave blew up but apart from that we had a nice day returning one day early!

The weather was kind to us. Perfect in every way. This was our second time here, love it as its so close to the beach. I would like to mention that the fan in onsuite, was not working. Love the space of the cottage there were 4 adults and 2 children and our dog. Plenty of room. Thank you

Afallon is a perfectly located property in a beautiful, picturesque area.

Inside; the rooms are plentiful, the kitchen is extremely well equipped and the general finish is to a very high spec. The information booklet was very helpful and provided us with great day outs. Definitely worth a return!

Lovely well equipped cottage.

Superb location and very comfortable. The extractor and towel rail are not working in the bathroom. It wasn’t a problem but we thought the owners should know.

A beautiful house that really is like a home from home.

The owners have thought of everything that might be need even down to a little sewing kit ! We look forward to returning soon, perfect location for exploring the area. Can thoroughly recommend the Stackpole Inn but book a table so you aren't disappointed!

Really lovely week in Avalon.

Warm and comfortable with great kitchen and plenty of space. Super location. Owner easily contactable (had to report some minor damage caused by Storm Darrah). Highly recommended accommodation.

We loved being able to walk to the beach through the woods.

We found the house too hot, mainly in the mornings, although it was unseasonably warm weather for November. We would have preferred to light the fire instead but there were no containers for wood or coal and we didn’t want to spoil the pristine white floor. As previous visitors have stated, we didn’t like the doorless en suite although it was beautifully appointed. Just as well there was a second bathroom. The large bed was extremely comfortable and there was plenty of storage. Outside needed some attention, rubbish was scattered around the garden (the local recycling system seems to be the problem as the containers are not fully enclosed) but it’s a shame this wasn’t cleared up by the gardener or housekeeper. There was an huge pile of leaves outside the front door. But all in all the house was well equipped and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and may well return.

Well we've already booked again for next year so shows how happy we were staying in Avalon.

Freshwater East is a fantastic place & the nearby Freshwater West is also stunning, Avalon was comfortable & perfectly clean, washing machine & tumble dryer were useful & being left a few cleaning products was helpful. The bedrooms were very comfortable with plenty of storage & kitchen had all appliances we needed. Would definitely recommend having a holiday at Avalon.

We enjoyed our stay at avalon first impressions being near woods out side looked a bit green at the end of the season but inside was spotless only moan think main room mattress is ready for a change

A bright and spacious open plan cottage, well furnished and clean.

Enclosed garden perfect for the dogs, and in the right position to get the sun. The only unusual thing was that the en suite does not have a door, which renders the loo a bit pointless for us reserved Brits. It's in a great location. A few minutes walk from the beautiful beach at Freshwater East (or a minute in the car if you don't fancy the hill), and 15-25 mins from an array if stunning unspoiled beaches. I'd also recommend Bosherton Lily Ponds which is 15-20 mins away.

We had a lovely week at Avalon, the property is positioned on the hill and with footpaths to the beach right on it's door step, on arrival we found the house to be very clean and comfortable, everything catered for inside and outside, and felt at home stright away, thank you for the little treats for us and socks, we all enjoyed our stay, and hope to come back.

Fabulous stay at Avalon We had a fabulous stay at Avalon and our party consisted of 4 adults, 2 young children and a large dog and there was plenty of space to accommodate us.

The driveway has enough space to park 2 cars easily and the enclosed garden was good for the dog. The property is furnished to a high standard and was lovely and clean. The booklet had lots of helpful information about the house, things to do and places to eat. The location provides easy access to the coastal path and beach down quite a steep path or along the road. I would be happy to stay again and would recommend this property.

It was a great downstairs area.

Lovely to have a downstairs toilet with a little one. Great to be able to walk to the beach. Everything we wanted was available in the house.

This is a beautiful house, open plan throughout with a distant view of Freshwater east where you can watch the sun setting from the garden.

The coastal path is accessed from the back garden and you can walk to the beach, although it is steep to return. Having older members we drove down and parked at the small car park which is free out of season. The open plan lounge, snug, dining room and kitchen provide a really excellent living area for families and adult parties alike. The kitchen is very well equipped and the owners are really helpful and quick to respond to any request for advice or help. We asked for oven gloves and they were sent to us within a day. The central heating was good and we kept us warm in January and we did try to light a fire in the log burner, but unfortunately the logs bought locally weren’t up to the job, but we did manage to light it once. If you do want to use it possibly take your own logs and kindling. The master bedroom has numerous floor to ceiling fitted wardrobes which would hold clothes for all the family, ideal for a family with children. The other two bedrooms didn’t have any storage facilities at all, a chest of drawers in the second bedroom would improve this. We were 5 adults and although we managed, the adults in the second and third bedroom had to live out of a suitcase all week. There is no storage at all and the third bedroom is decorated for children, although does have a double bed with a small ladder for access suitable for one adult. The master bedroom has a beautiful en-suite with a large walk in shower, the open plan en-suite (no door) isn’t for the shy or faint hearted, we did get used to it eventually. The open plan loo prohibited the use of the wardrobes by other party members. The master bedroom is large and luxurious with a very comfortable large double bed. The family bathroom is good with a bath and shower over. The owners allow two well behaved dogs and the outside space is fenced and with the drive gates closed is very safe and secure for the dogs. There is lots of information about the house and area provided, two sets of keys for access and cleaning equipment to use during your stay. We thoroughly enjoyed our holiday here and would definitely recommend it for one family. Jacks at the longhouse and The Freshwater Inn were both great to eat at and they made us all very welcome, both very dog friendly too.

A comfortable cottage close to the main tourist attractions and beaches.

There's a signposted path at the back of the property through a gate which is perfect for walking dogs and to get to the beach. There is a useful washing machine and tumble drier not mentioned in the write up. There aren't any heated towel rails as described. No storage in the 2nd and 3rd bedrooms but plenty in the main bedroom. The cottage could do with a thorough clean. Despite the instruction book telling guests to put out the rubbish daily we were only provided with 1 bin bag, so had to purchase some more. There were some useful kitchen utensils missing, including oven gloves. The heating wasn't working when we arrived, we discovered it was switched off! Note that the ensuite shower room in main bedroom does not have a door. Good free wi-fi which is needed as there is no mobile signal in the area. As described the path is very steep to the beach, anyone with mobility issues (or unfit like us!) will struggle. There is a car park though, with a great restaurant nearby (Jacks)! The beaches around the local area are stunning. Plenty of supermarkets in Pembroke but none within walking distance to property. Would recommend that you check Freshwater Inn opening times by phoning first as they don't have a website and they aren't open every day.

Avalon is a lovely bungalow in a beautiful part of Pembrokeshire.

Light and airy, with excellent facilities. We also enjoyed the complementary crackers!

Lovely cottage and a great holiday.

No complaints whatsoever. The only negative feedback I can give is that the bed in the master bedroom has an issue with the bedframe or mattress. The rhs as sleeping in the bed slopes to the right - and the code for the shed padlock isn't as listed in the booklet. Great that there was a smart TV so we didn't have to connect a laptop as we have in previous properties. Kitchen and dining area are great for families.

Avery nice cottage.

But thought you should know of a few unexplained events, we were Woking in the early hours of Saturday morning by loud banging on front door on investigating nobody there. Also on returning after the day out on Wednesday found kitchen utensils strewn over worktops and some items on floor ,as we had locked the doors and windows on leaving it would seem somebody had let themselves in. Also on following day on returning the electricity had been turned off in the consumer unit but this may have been a power cut. Look forward to your reply. Regards M Hopper

Beautiful house but needs a few tweaks to make it perfect.

Firstly the heating did not work and after getting soaked a cold house was not welcoming. My husband phoned the owner who was very helpful and told us how to reset the system. This was greatly appreciated There was no baskets of logs provided as per the description of the cottage so we did spend 2 cold evenings before we managed to reset the heating. We were disappointed to find that although there are 2 smart TVs they only show catch up channels or pay to view channels. There are no live channels at all as there is no aerial output. In the snug there is an xbox that children would enjoy. T towels were provided but no dishcloth or any type of scourer. This is not the standard we are used to, Also no milk or any sort of welcome pack. Again not what we are used to. We have been holidaying in cottages for 10 years and this is the first cottage that has not provided these items. So future guests need to be aware of this. We found watching the tv in the sitting room difficult as it is on the wall. Perhaps this could be moved to a table? We ended up sitting in the snug to watch tv which seemed a shame as the open plan lounge is so spacious and light. The ensuite is very well furnished but without a door!!! Overall the cottage is well situated and spotlessy clean. There are books and games provided and now has access to the Disney channel.

it would have been good to have some dishwasher tablets, as this is something we expect to be there, and has been an all other locations we have been to, a welcome pack would also have been good, if only for a pint of milk for tea upon arrival The standard of the accommodation was very good but there were a few things i think that were missing from the kitchen, a large frying pan, a spatula, some tin foil, the grill part of the grill pan good but these few simple missing items would have made it better.

Avalon is a gem!

Tastefully furnished with everything you need for an enjoyable holiday. It’s a home away from home. The owner’s manual which included great ideas of what to do and where to go was much appreciated. We will certainly be back!
