The cottage is beautiful, with stunning scenery all around, and the owners are absolutely lovely and so welcoming. The kids especially loved seeing the cows which are right next to it, it became a bit of a daily highlight! The cottage has that lovely isolated, peaceful feel, but is still really close to all the amenities you need, so you get the best of both worlds. We also had a fab time sitting out looking at the stars in the evening, with hardly any light pollution around. We’ve had a brilliant stay and would definitely love to come back. Thank you for such a lovely week!

We were so pleased with the accommodation which gave us everything we needed.

The location was perfect, peaceful and quiet, and enabled us to meet up with family in Swansea, plus allowing us to visit local places of interest. The cottage was clean, well-equipped, spacious and comfortable.

The accommodation was excellent and in an attractive, convenient setting for exploring the area.

A brilliant time in Wales.

The accommodation was just what we expected with the added bonus of fresh flowers on the dining room table and a basket of goodies too. Dawn was really helpful and made us most welcome, can't wait to go again.

The cottage is modern and had everything we needed and all of a really high quality. The owners left a nice welcome pack and visited on arrival to be sure we had all we needed. It was the middle of winter and we were really warm. I would highly recommend this cottage.

A comfortable warm and cosy bungalow with ample space and the most comfortable beds. The Christmas decorations made it feel so festive and welcoming. Everything you could possibly need under one roof to make it a perfect place to spend time with family at Christmas time. Perfect in every way

Yr Hen Ffeld is a perfect base to explore the area, so easy to get to the main roads, but tucked away in a very peaceful location with great dark skies for star gazing, and very friendly cows in the neighbouring field!

The property is spacious, and has a lovely flow to it; we all felt we could happily live there and a bountiful welcome basket greeted us. Would happily stay there again.

Friendly hosts and a well equipped bungalow.

We had a fabulous week staying in this beautiful bungalow in the countryside.

It was lovely to wake up and look outside and see fields of cows, quite a novelty for the kids. The owner was very accommodating and met us on the first day to welcome us and on our final day. We had a very generous welcome basket which was a lovely touch. The rooms are very spacious and well equipped, it was nice to have a utility room and two bathrooms. The garden is huge with lots of pretty plants, seating at the front and the back of the property, and plenty of room for 2 cars. The fridge is quite small, but there are plenty of supermarkets quite nearby. Ideally situated in a quite village not far for visiting the Beacon Beacons, Tenby and The Mumbles all lovely days out.

Lovely quiet holiday home just 5 minutes from the M4.

Perfect for a small family. Plenty of space and facilities. Owner was lovely and accommodating, checking in to see how we were. Lots of board games, TV in the kitchen, lovely garden, comfy beds and seating, two bathrooms. Everything you need for a stay in the area. Just a few things to prevent a 5 star review. The fridge is small for a 6 person home, especially if staying a week. We had to do a few smaller shops throughout the week, rather than getting everything in one shop. Plenty of large supermarkets nearby though. The WIFI is an unsecured network, although the chance of a breach is very low given the location. Mobile signal was fine for us, if you're worried about that. The pool table is unusable - cloth tears, cue tips are very worn down, no chalk. Only suitable for very young kids who just want to hit balls. All in all the negatives are minor and are far outweighed by the positives. We would definitely consider staying here again if we come back to the area. Thanks for a lovely stay!

Description very accurate. Communication with owner first class. Accomodation sparklingly clean. No complaints at all. I would recommend this holiday accomodation as a place to stay.

What a beautiful bungalow, set in a stunning location.

The interior was modern, stylish, very well equipped and more than a home from home. It catered extremely well for my father who has limited walking mobility. There was absolutely nothing to fault and it was better than the pictures shown online. Dawn was a lovely host, thank you for letting out this superb property and also for the treat basket and tea bags, coffee, sugar and milk..lovely to make a cuppa on arrival. We shall definitely be back.

The cottage had a lovely cozy & welcoming atmosphere, we went the first week of December and it was nicely decorated for Christmas.

The welcome basket was a lovely touch. The owner Dawn was very helpful, we got stuck in traffic and later then expected to arrive, she was on hand to take in our Tesco delivery and put it away for us. The kitchen had everything you could need. We would definitely stay again

The cottage is bueatiful with everything you need and in working condition.

The only thing that bothered me was that the floors were not cleaned well to a good standard. The first thing we did was hoovered up. It needs a good mop. Otherwise everything was fine and once we did what was needed we really enjoyed our stay.

On arrival, very clean, lovely basket of treats, milk, fresh flowers and bowl of fruit awaiting us.

Very well equipped kitchen, dishwasher, washing machine. Owners very friendly and helpful. Great views, about half hour from Swansea.

We are just back from our holiday at Dawn and Brian’s beautiful cottage.

I’ve used Sykes for a number of years and this cottage does feel like a home from home. Such kindness and care for their guests. A very generous welcome basket which is a lovely touch. The village is central for getting out and about round this part of Wales. We have teenagers and the pool table in the garage was a great idea for keeping them off their phones and talking to each other. We absolutely loved our stay and will be back. Thank you Dawn and Brian for such a wonderful place to spend time together in. Highly recommend.

This is a fantastic place so clean, peaceful and beautiful area.

We have stayed here many times and will definitely be back. We have bern as a couple and with our two grandsons. They loved it thete as very comfortable beds ,has a pool table, bow and arrow set and could ride thier electric scooters there. Our hosts were amazing, no request small or large was turned down and thier knowledge of the area really helped. Very convenient area for camarthen, Ammonford, Swansea, llandilo, llandebie and many more places. Very warm welcome every time we have visited both at the Barn , thier other place or this one. Very high standard of cleaning and beautiful presented. Beds are very comfortable and views are amazing.

An absolutely wonderful, fantastic, amazing cottage with beautiful views all around.

Dawn, our host had left a lovely welcome hamper of goodies, which was just what we needed after a long stressful day on our arrival day. The cottage is by far the best I've ever been in. All furnishings were a very high standard. There was everything you could need, dishwasher tablets, cloths, condiments, tea, coffee, sugar etc. There were even some bath salts, bath cubes and antibacterial hand wash. Perfect for guests with limited mobility as it is all on one level. There are chairs in both the back and front gardens, so you can relax and take in the view. Highly recommended and would definitely return. If you're looking for a day trip out, I'd recommend a Dolphin spotting trip at Cardigan Bay.

The cottage is very well equipped, spotlessly clean and situated in a very quiet location. The welcome pack was a thoughtful add extra ( and much enjoyed). Dawn made herself available and nothing was to much trouble. We would definitely stay again if visiting South Wales and have already recommended it to family and friends.

One of the best holiday lets we have ever stayed at.

recently refurbished to a very high standard. Generous welcome pack. Guestbook indicates several people have stayed here multiple times, and I can understand why. Convenient for Welsh Botanical garden and the bird of prey centre there. The Fountain Inn at Pontarddulais is a great place for a meal. Very quiet location. Adequate & reliable speed on internet. Beds are comfortable. If we ever holiday in this area again this would be our first choice of accommodation.

A very comfortable house to stay in.

It had great facilities, plenty of parking. It was in the countryside but with easy access to nearby towns and shopping. The owners were very friendly and helpful and ensured our stay was enjoyable.

Cottage was very clean with everything provided for your holiday. Great welcome pack including milk, cookies, crisps and Easter treats. Very helpful owners nearby if there were any problems. We had a great week exploring this lovely part of Wales, our second visit to this cottage.

It had everything we needed and was in the perfect location for where we wished to visit during our short break. It is a credit to the owner who was friendly very welcoming on our arrival.

We really enjoyed our stay at this comfortable and well appointed single storey accommodation.

Situated in a rural location (car essential) it proved a good centre for exploring the wider Swansea area including the Gower, the Botanical Gardens and the Wetlands Centre. The welcome pack was so useful with the nearest store located a few miles away. We enjoyed meeting the owner who was very friendly and helpful with our questions.

Easy journeys to Gower beaches, Pembrokeshire, National Botanic Garden . Owners very friendly, nothing too much trouble. Nice touch with a welcome pack, much appreciated. Property well equipped with everything you'd need. Would definitely stay there again when in the area.

A lovely cottage in an excellent location.

A very good base for a wide range of attractions - the Gower beaches, castles , theme parks and much more.

We’ve used holiday cottages for years and I think this was our favourite for overall quality of fittings and provisions.

The beds were extremely comfortable and everything felt nice quality. We really enjoyed the addition of a pool table and had some lovely family fun in the garage. I really liked that Dawn was on hand and just a text away for queries. She text to let us know the property was ready early which was lovely. Zero complaints from us! Thank you guys

Dawn is such a genuine, warm and kind person who made us feel very welcome into this property.

She was very helpful with her knowledge of the local area. The property itself is very comfortable, we really enjoyed the special extras of the welcome back and luxury bath items. The cows in the background along with the rolling hills added to the rural tranquil. This is a gem of a property, location which is very clearly supported by all the love and effort from Dawn and her family. We will definitely return next time.

The owner was very helpful and everything needed was provided. The cottage was very clean and a pleasure to stay in . Quiet garden to relax in at the end of the day. Lovely welcome pack even included Easter eggs. We had a great holiday and would certainly book this cottage again. I recommend this cottage to anyone wanting a home from home experience and a brilliant location to visit the Gower and Brecon Beacons.

We stayed at Yr Hen Ffald over the Christmas break, originally booking for 7 nights, which we increased to 12, then further to 16 nights as we just couldn't tear ourselves away!

From the moment we stepped in through the front door and met our host, Dawn, we could feel the warmth and welcome of this very special home. The cottage is cosy and comfortable, very spacious, and above all else, sparkling clean. The cupboards were filled with everything you could possibly need during your stay from clean towels and bedding, to having all the kitchen utensils you'd have in your own home. You're also guaranteed a good night's sleep in your tranquil surroundings; despite only being a stone's throw from the M4 there is no traffic noise whatsoever, you're just surrounded by lush green fields where mornings are welcomed with the most beautiful sunrises and the days close with sunsets befitting of oil paintings (should you of course be lucky with the weather). There was a beautiful welcome basket on arrival piled high with goodies and being Christmastime, every room had been tastefully decorated, oozing festive charm. We will definitely be booking ahead for Christmas next year with undoubtedly a good few trips in between as I'm sure it will be wonderful to experience the changing of the seasons in this stunning location. 5* go to Dawn and Brian for their hospitality; living not too far away themselves they were only too happy to help should we have needed anything, which we didn't during our stay as it was perfect, but even so it was just nice to see Dawn's smiling face now and again when she'd visit to prepare the neighbouring property, a converted barn which they also rent as a holiday let (Ysgubor Hir). There were probably three different families staying there during our stay, but there was no disturbance whatsoever and we still felt as though we were the only ones there. We stayed for a week at half term.

The bungalow was brilliant, we couldn’t fault it. Everything had been well thought out, everything was modern, clean and fresh. The owner came to see if we had everything we wanted and was very nice and welcoming. We would highly recommend to anyone needing a peaceful location if wanting to stay away from the town which wasn’t to far away if needed supplies, would be brilliant in the summer months with all the outdoor facilities needed to barbecue and to sit comfortably in the sunshine on a very nice patio set. Lovely place..

Quiet but very accessible location with wonderful views from the cottage. Helpful and welcoming owner, who called by to check all was OK. Easy to reach from the end of the M4 and excellent location for exploring this part of South Wales with easy access to Swansea and into Carmarthenshire. With family nearby, we know the area quite well but highly recommend National Botanic Garden which was new to us this visit and less than 20 minutes away. A very enjoyable and relaxing week.

A very enjoyable week in this lovely bungalow.

The facilities in the property were far exceeding any other property we have stayed at previously booked through Sykes. Dawn the owner was friendly and welcoming, leaving a lovely welcoming package of regional snacks. I would recommend anybody to stay here, as the views are stunning.

We enjoyed staying in this lovely cottage set in a very good location with fields in all directions.

The property was clean and very modern, tastefully decorated, beds were comfortable, all the rooms were a good size and i was surprised at how well the kitchen was equipped. The added welcome basket was a lovely touch too! Dawn was very nice and helpful and popped by to ask if everything was alright. We were able to get to many places in about an hour or so from the location. We were about a little over an hour away from the Brecon Beacons. Gower, The Mumbles and Swansea were only 30 mins away and we even went as far as the Pembrokeshire coast. Tesco superstore was only 10 mins away and had plenty of choice including for those who are vegan or gluten intolerant.

The property was very cleaned and cared for.

The owner made us feel very welcome, when we saw her she was very friendly. There was a welcome pack in the property and those small touches made us feel very comfortable. The property is very well set out and nicely decorated. Our children loved the mini pool table in the garage. The location is central to the Gower peninsular and Brecon Beacons, about an hour in either direction but easily doable. Locally there is a nice country park and National botanical gardens.

Facilities and equipment were all of a high quality.

The cottage is located in a lovely area within easy driving distance of the coast and other attractions. Plenty of room for everyone and the layout was good with a kitchen diner and separate lounge and utility room. Welcome pack with milk and food was very much appreciated and the owners were very friendly and helpful. The only improvements could be a more detailed welcome folder (eg what to do with rubbish etc and maybe some history of the building and area) and the appliance user manuals in clear view rather than in a cupboard covered with other items.

An absolute gem of a cottage.

Perfect location for Swansea, Mumbles and Gower area but still within easy reach of Carmarthen and Pembrokeshire with Tenby only 50 minutes away. We stayed as 3 couples including elderly parents and had plenty of space with everything we could possibly need. Lovely clean spacious bedrooms and bathrooms. We dined in most evenings and found the kitchen to be very well equipped with everything we needed with lots of pots, pans, utensils and gadgets to be able to cook with ease for 6 people. Wonderful welcome package with milk coffee welsh cakes, chocolate etc and a very friendly welcoming host. We will definitely be visiting again!

It's a well presented cottage in excellent condition with all the bits you need for a relaxing holiday.

The owner is friendly and helpful. Do note the accurate directions given as sat nav will try and take you through a farm which is not relaxing! Nothing says 'this cant be right' like reversing 1/2 mile down very single track road and you really don't need to! Guess who tried :) The cottage is well placed to visit the area with excellent road links and has a supermarket 5 mins away. Loved it!

Lovely home and peaceful area. Supermarket is 5 minutes away. Just 30 minutes from several beaches. Had a few rainy days, but just relaxed at home. Visited Swansea and Bridgend Retail Outlet. Cardiff and Tenby also not too far. The owner was very friendly and left some welcome treats to enjoy. Really enjoyed our break here.

Clean, comfortable and well stocked. Dawn, the owner, was very helpful and friendly and provided a range of goodies which was a lovely touch. The location was perfect for what we wanted and despite Covid-19 we had a lovely holiday. We would recommend this cottage and would definitely consider returning again.

Lovely well equipped cottage.

Weather wasnt amazing so we spent alot of time relaxing and the cottage was perfect for that. Very peaceful area, close to local amenities. Lovely host who told us about some local events during our stay. The cottage is also on a local bus route for a day out in Swansea without the car, was ideal! Would recommend.

On arrivel at the cottage their was a lovely welcome pack waiting for us even milk in the fridge and the bathroom was well stocked. The bungalow was lovely and clean . The nice surprise was the extras provided by Dawn - fresh flowers, lots of bathroom smellies and the best welcome pack we've had so far. There is also a beautiful private garden which we didn't realise from the property description.

We booked Yr Hen FFald for the Christmas period - five adults and a 6-year old boy.

Everything was spotless when we arrived, with everything that we would need for a wonderful Christmas holiday - there were ever Christmas decorations everywhere! Cooking facilities were ideal and there was plenty of space to store all our food in cupboards, a good sized refrigerator and a large freezer, plus the extra space in the utility room and garage. There were plenty of games of all sorts to entertain the 6-year old, including the pool table in the garage. The beds were comfortable and warm, there was plenty of seating in the living room and lots of space around the dining table. We don't have a dish washer at home, so it was lovely to have one to use at the cottage - saved a lot of time, of course, and much appreciated! A big 'thank you' to Dawn, our wonderful, friendly host who didin't bat en eyelid when she saw the mountain of re-cyclable things and the other refuse that we had managed to generate. We can thoroughly recommend Yr Hen Ffald for anyone who wants to stay in this beautiful part of Wales.

It was everything exactly as described, very well presented and a lovely hamper awaited us when we arrived. Great location with easy access to the Gower, Swansea and the Brecan Beacons. Would stay again no problem and would recommend the cottage and Sykes cottages to anyone.

Lovely home-from-home accommodation with excellent facilities, which made our stay very comfortable and enjoyable.

Very friendly and helpful owners. A fabulous welcome basket filled with goodies and fresh fruit awaited us on arrival and were enjoyed by all. The cottage is in a lovely rural, pastoral setting, but with excellent link roads to Swansea, Cardiff, the Gower Peninsula, Pembrokeshire and the Brecon Beacons. We particularly enjoyed visiting the National Showcaves, Pembrey Country Park, walking behind a waterfall on the Four Falls walking trail and a day in beautiful Tenby. The cottage was a great base for our holiday and we are happy to recommend it.

A lovely welcome pack on arrival. Possibly could do with a new washing line but everything else was perfect. We visited Tenby Caldey Island, Brecon and the canal. Swansea not so good would do Cardiff next time.

A fantastic week at this perfect holiday home which has met all our high expectations.

The great weather also made this a memorable and relaxing week with visits to many of the towns and points of interest. Yr Hen Ffald is the second holiday home we have had with Sykes and both have been very successful.

Wonderful and relaxing countryside break Great place to stay, clean and tidy with modern fittings, we’ve stayed here twice now and would happily stay again, it has all the comforts of your own home and it’s in a nice location.

From here it was easy for us to spend a day exploring the area, then come back and relax. It's an easy drive to the Gower Peninsular and Brecon Beacons. The garden at the side was a good size for our kids to run around in. Will definitely be recommending it to friends and family.
