Everything inside seems quite new (furnishings, carpets, paintwork, etc.) and has been well done. All the equipment worked well and we found the cottage very comfortable. There were some nice touches: lots of books about the area, a selection of games, milk in the fridge on our arrival, bickies on the table along with tea, coffee and hot chocolate. There were some nice touches: lots of books about the area, a selection of games, milk in the fridge on our arrival, bickies on the table along with tea, coffee and hot chocolate. Kitchen is well equipped with lots of pots, pans and utensils. Main bedroom is quite spacious, second bedroom is small but fine for kids. We had no problems during our stay so didn’t have to communicate with the property managers. The location is very nice: you can walk to Solva on the Pembroke Coast Path in about 30 minutes. (You can’t walk there safely on the road, which is more direct, because there are narrow sections with no pavement.) We also loved having the adjacent open field with gorgeous views along the coast. And of course this part of Pembrokeshire is full of beautiful scenery, fabulous coastal walks and lots of interesting places (St. David’s, Pembroke, Skomer Island, etc.) The local convenience store is only 5 minutes’ walk away and quite well stocked. There’s also a pizza van outside it which does very good Detroit-style pizza (thick base, loaded with ingredients). The only thing to be aware of, which we found unclear from the description, is that the cottage is part of a complex of holiday flats - about 10 in all - distributed between a main house just across a courtyard from the cottage and one or two other attached smaller buildings. So there are quite a few people sharing the same space around the cottage, including the open field, which is on the other side of the main house from the cottage. So although the Llanuwas estate is quite secluded, it’s also quite busy. The estate is being managed with a strong view towards sustainability, which is good to see. All in all, we had a lovely week in Solva and would highly recommend Wood Cottage as a base to explore from.
