Beacon House
Description
Little Haven 6.5 miles.
Beacon House is a fine, detached traditional cottage resting in the village of Marloes, Pembrokeshire, offering off-road parking, open beams, an enclosed garden, and a woodburning stove, all set near the beach.
Step inside and you’ll quickly sense the character of this mid‑19th‑century cottage, where exposed beams and traditional touches shape a setting well suited to a relaxed coastal stay.
The kitchen provides a practical space for preparing meals at your own pace, while the dining room invites you to linger over supper after days spent outdoors.
As evening arrives, the sitting room becomes the heart of the home, with the woodburning stove adding a welcoming glow as you settle in with a book, a film, or a quiet conversation.
The cottage offers two bedrooms, including a double and a twin, making it a suitable choice for couples, friends, or a small family, while the ground-floor shower room with a walk-in shower is ideal after sandy walks and sea air.
Outside, the enclosed garden with lawn and furniture is a pleasant place to start the day with a coffee or enjoy a drink later on, with space for your well‑behaved dog to stretch out alongside you.
Marloes itself is well known for the world famous Puffins and a large sweeping beach and dramatic coastal scenery, with footpaths leading directly to the Pembrokeshire Coast Path and Nearby St Davids offers a rewarding day out, where you can explore the historic cathedral, browse independent shops, and enjoy cafés dotted around the city centre.
A short drive takes you to Dale, a waterside village popular for its harbour views, coastal walks, and opportunities for all kinds of watersports including kayaking, sailing or just wanting to jump off the pontoon!!
From the nearby mainland embarkation point, boat trips run out to Skomer Island, famed for Puffins, wildlife and seabird colonies during the season.
After full days discovering the coastline, return to Beacon House.

What guests are saying
The cottage looks cute from the outside.
It has a narrow winding staircase with steep steps. Stay close to the wall when descending otherwise you can fall. The cosy looking lounge is equipped with one two seater settee and a single chair, a tv (which sadly rarely works because of poor signal) and has a pretty fire place. The dining area adjacent is modern but lacks character. The patterned blind is nice though. Both shower room and kitchen are dated. There is no oven and the microwave doesn’t work well. The photos on Sykes website make the Cottage appear a lot bigger. Believe me, it’s TINY! We found every bed rather uncomfortable, although the quilts were okay. The first evening we arrived the lounge chair started leaning to one side. The chair leg appeared to be broken. We reported it the same evening. The owner arranged for a man to fix it the following day. Positives are, there is a large enclosed garden for dogs. A children’s play park is across the road. The bedding and towels appear to be good quality and seem new. The cottage was clean and tidy when we arrived. There is room to park a car within the grounds. There is a washing machine too. Beaches are close by and there is a bus stop opposite the pub next door.
Very good location for the boat trips and the beach.
Linen pillows and mattresses need upgrading. Otherwise adequately furnished. Could do with a deep clean. Otherwise comfortable enough for a couple of nights.
